I love love love Luke Perry!!! seems like all they need to mention Shannen Doherty every now and then. Jason Priestley can't stop sarcastically bad mouthing Shannen Doherty. Luke Perry is very respectful towards shannen Doherty. we need a full original 90210 reunion .
He never really saved it it was trash from season 5 onwards he only came back because he needed the money everybody knows that that show should have been cancelled at the end of season 8 when Jason left
@@stasia448The only reason that Luke asked to work with Jennie Garth was because the producers started combining stories with Melrose Place and Luke absolutely resented that. So he requested a drama story exclusively for their show. That's why Dylan and Kelly got involved but it was not meant to last and that's why most of the scenes in season 4 was between Luke and Shannen because Dylan and Brenda were going to end up together anyway and now be quiet for a lifetime

Dang I love and miss Luke so much. I love Jason too, but Luke was a kind and respectful person. Not one person had something negative to say about him after he passed. Miss you Luke!
Absolutely loved watching this and seeing the great dynamics between Jason and Luke. Had me laughing so much. I have a lot of respect for these actors and how down to earth they are considering the level of fame they achieved.

As a hardcore Brenda/Shannen fan. I NEVER wanted her off 90210. So I don’t know where the interviewer/Jason got that from. I actually lost interest after she left. The show got less interesting. Brenda was one of if not the most complex characters on the show. Jason comes across really jealous and bitter here.

Well, what do they say “those who can, do, and those who can’t, criticize. This goes to show that the critics aren’t the be all, end all. Aaron Spelling didn’t create for the critics, he created for the people. He cleverly marketed his shows to a very specific audience. The dialogue in BH 90210 was clearly not written with Shakespeare in mind, but was created to appeal to a teen audience. Goal accomplished. Job well done. While the critics tore him apart, he was living the life in the Manor with a room dedicated to wrapping gifts. Well played, sir.
I literally just watched an interview from the mid 90's where Luke Perry said that there weren't problems, at least w/ he and Shannon Doherty, and in this interview he says the exact opposite. Not that it matters, I just found it kind of funny, and thought I'd point it out. Loved 90210 when I was a kid!
He probably was being coy at the time through the context of that interview because Shannen, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan were all like that with Alyssa Milano until it was time to let loose on their issues with her.

i lost interest when brandon, and valerie left. thats when everyone new was introduced. it wasnt the same but at the same time, i could not have imagined brandon or valerie or even claire, fitting into the storyline when gina, matt and janet were all introduced.

Very unprofessional starting the Interview off with hating on shannen. I dont think Luke was too impressed with that. Looks like he tried to defend her a bit but had to go with the flow of the interview.
Luke is very respectful now, as many years have passed, but he had the most issues with Shannen while filming. It was his idea to end B/D and he asked producers to make Kelly and Dylan a thing. Luke was more invested in Kelly and Dylan than anyone, and given the chance, I don't think he would ever have tried to put Brenda and Dylan back together. He and Jennie were incredibly close. I'm a bit surprised at how much dislike Jason still has for her - it's palpable.
@@thesupremediva Jason's dislike surprised me too, especially since this interview is nearly 20 years after Shannen left. I've always heard stories about Shannen and Jennie, but don't remember any about her and Jason (other than the general she didn't get along with the cast stories). I've been watching interviews this past week since Luke died, and anytime Shannen is brought up it's pretty apparent Jason doesn't like her. Even in the 90s interviews, the rest of the cast is pretty diplomatic in talking about her. I wonder what the story is behind her and Jason.
I have never heard Luke wants to end BD. Most of it comes from the girls cast jealousy. And Shannen marriage at young age she was getting divorce at that time and also her father was sick she had to provide for her family. She was a young star from a young age.

Okay, LOL, not sure who this speaker is and where he got his facts but EVERYONE did NOT want Brenda off the show. Seriously. Her popularity within the actual online message board fandom, couple polls, and character polls attests to that, not to mention, the online petition that brought attention and got her guest-starring with Jennie Garth on the 90210 spin-off. Shannen was not even originally asked to be on it, probably due to this widespread myth that Brenda was soooo hated and dispelled from the minds of viewers everywhere. Not true. I think poor Shannen even believed it for a long time, probably why she never bothered with the original show ever again and chose doing Charmed as opposed to returning to it in s9. I was surprised she agreed to do it for her fans on the remake. That awful gossip rag, The I Hate Brenda Newsletter, was actually a diatribe against Shannen but people and media began meshing that together with the fictional character. And it was started by a minority, it was not even a majority representation, that is what is absurd about it. Lastly, I just have to point out, I wonder if interviews like this and joking around about Shannen being a bitch is helping matters at all. It has been addressed repeatedly that Shannen was going through alot of personal turmoil on set at the time and it was a mutual decision for her to leave. I am sure they all had their days, the only difference, Shannen got the spotlight cast on hers because she left the show. Shannen and Jennie have since made amends and both admitted to growing up since those days, which is pretty indicative to me it was not always one-sided. Do not get me wrong, I love these guys, and they handled themselves pretty well, especially Luke. But the constant hammering on the negative stigma against Shannen is old and needs to be put to rest. Laughing and kind of joking about Shannen being a bitch in one breath, but admitting to working with her still and loving her seems ... counterproductive and weird to me. If she was such a horrible bitch and so hard to work with, why continue to do so in the future? That does not jive very well which is why I firmly believe this bad rap of hers got way over embellished and used for hype. I believe Shannen probably went through a rough patch but in which some of the others were no saints either, but it hardly defines who she really is as a person. So sad and I believe unfair to Shannen, especially when Charmed gets brought into it. Two incidents, only 2 that were spread out, that were different and unrelated and which does not automatically mean Shannen is at 100% fault.
you're so right. but, Luke said that Brenda/Dylan was his favorite couple on the show. and he had no problems with her when they worked together. and o also see how he cut Jason off from saying something negative about her by talking about a different scene on the show.

Luke passed away this morning from the stroke he had. Condolences go out his family, former 90210 castmates, and the cast of Riverdale. He will be missed.

Jason seems to have almost a sutter or an unusual tendency to repeat things and is less friendly than his character whereas Luke is very different from his character i.e. very humble and friendly.

Brenda's actual popularity on the internet & within fandom & fandom polls says otherwise, though, lol. Many have expressed how they either got bored or stopped watching the show when Brenda left. I was one of them and only stuck it out for Luke|Dylan until s6. Then I was gone, watched again when he returned. The ones who started that "I Hate Brenda" newsletter were a minority representation back in the day blown up to sound like a majority. Today's more sophisticated internet puts it to rest, the fandom speaks for itself. They didn't have clear access to that back then.

Val just doesn't have the same level of memorability at all possibly because she's not an original. In pop culture Valerie just flies under the radar Brenda however is an icon like Rachel in Friends. That's just the way it is.

I absolutely agree, wasn’t much of a fan of Brenda but loved Val. She was so well written, her backstory set the tone for her character and made you understand her on a deeper level, made you understand why she was the way she was.
I never liked Brenda. Shannen is a great actress I just hated her character. I loved Dylan more than Brandon but I have to say Jason is cooler than Luke.
