I will never forget one of the first "challenges" I set for myself. I bought the June 2000 (was it July issue? I don't remember. Pretty sure it was June) issue of OPM that had the Tony Hawk 2 demo. I personally had not played THPS, but the hype for the demo sold me. My challenge was to complete the full 2 minute demo without wiping out when doing a 900. I failed. And failed. And failed again. On my very last run I thought I had it, did a 900 and.... Wiped out with 11 seconds to go. I had been getting pissed before this, but this time I SNAPPED and threw my precious Emerald Green Dual Shock at the pole just mere inches from me. My Emerald Green Dual Shock was forever fucked after that, and everytime I see my Blue Dual Shock to this day I got with it in October 1999, I always think "I miss your Green Brother". I think I finally tossed my Emerald Green Dual Shock around 2018 or so (I still held onto it for sentimental sake).
Thanks! The intro is actually a homage to the very first thing in my Adobe Premiere class back in college. Only it wasn't as dynamic and Blanka scrolled across the screen. And that is indeed why it's called a challenge. :D
I'm always happy to see old franchises make a try at something new. I don't have much nostalgia for early Sega stuff (I was a Nintendo kid), but of what they showed I think I'm most interested in Shinobi for the art style and Streets of Rage / Golden Axe. @@timculhane625
