Probably my favorite 2015 Top 10 list this year. Jason offered a variety, with some titles that were off the beaten path of many other reviewers. What Jason lacks in showmanship he certainly makes up for in offering us an eclectic mix of games. I agree with some other commentors that Tom's interaction with Jason was helpful. It loosened Jason up as the video progressed. And Tom helped draw out some additional discussion from Jason about why he did or didn't include a game on his list.
+TheGreatHamEl I get that though, sometimes people just don't seem to talk about the games they really love in the spirit you'd expect for one of their favourite games.Even in my group it's not until people ask to replay a game that you realise how much they liked a game. Why because most people say yer I liked or disliked a game, but knowing how much is hard to know and or communicate.
I hardly ever comment on any videos, but I just wanted you to know that I thought that this was one of the best videos you have done all year. I normally stay away from Jason videos, but he has really come into his own and the dynamic between he and Tom was excellent here. Well done guys!
Jason... the NEW "Voice of the People"!!!! Love his Top Ten and most agrees with the games that I enjoy. I mean, if you don't have "Codenames" in your Top Ten, how can you be "Voice of the People"? Love it!
+Trent Bear I'm assuming you are referring to Zee having it as #11. I was just having some fun with Jason, Zee and the guys. Love all the guys - they are great and just so enjoyable. Great men.
This is an exceptional list. Jason personally recommended Food Chain Magnate to me at BGG Con and I'm glad he did. The fact that none of the other dice tower lists had Code Names was baffling to say the least. I agree with everything on Jason's list that I have played and will be looking for the ones on this list that I haven't played yet.
+The Dice Tower I didn't mean for you to take it personally. I love the game, everyone in my gaming group loves the game, everyone in my family loves the game, everyone I saw playing it at BGG Con loved the game... In the video Sam and Zee said they didn't like it, if it was your #11 I must have missed you saying it. Still shocking to me that it's only on 1 of the 4 lists, I think it will have more staying power than almost every game ranked ahead of it.
+James Kane I think some people seem to miss the magic. I've played it several times and I think it's just an okay game, I honestly don't know what everyone loves about it. I'm not saying that to be a nay-sayer, I feel like I'm missing out on something. I know I'm not the only one though. Maybe it's just better in big groups?
"the not Tom group" - love it, haha Thanks Jason, I love the passion and enthusiasm that you bring to boardgaming, The Dice Tower, and singing. Looking forward to more, next year
Nice list, Jason. I feel like you're really hitting your stride with your videos. You were concise, focused, and all around engaging in this video. You seem to have found a way to channel your enthusiasm for games into clear points. Good job, dude. I'll be checking these games out, and I sincerely hope we'll be seeing more videos from you in 2016. :-)
Nice list. Guess Splotter Games don't typically get U.S. distribution, so we won't be seeing it at Coolstuff? One game that wasn't mentioned was Automania. Seemed to be a bit of a sleeper hit with Dice Tower (and Rahdo).
Glad to see the Voyages of Marco Polo getting some love. It's been a very well received game for my wife and me, and our gaming group loves it as well.
Voyages of Marco Polo just arrived to Yucata system, so i'm trying it out now :) Last Will was interesting (own it), but mostly because of its theme. And i thought some of the mechanisms are not useful in game. But Prodigals Club sounds more interesting with that "Knizia scoring", so you won't be able to concentrate just on one thing.
wow I actually have a few of these games.voyages of marco polo is amazing and has such replayability. your tactics depend greatly on your character and which city cards are in play.blood rage is still sealed but hoping to get it played over the Christmas period.Mombasa is in the post, really looking forward to this arriving.roll for the galaxy is awesome too.codenames is my least favourite game i've played this year. its jut not for me. I'm not slating the game, i just don't enjoy it.keep up the good work guys and look forward to seeing you at uk expo next june tom.
I was surprised The Gallerist didn't make your list. Any reason why? I've been enjoying Food Chain Magnate myself, but feel the first few turns are a bit scripted and the "first to $100" milestone (to get the free CFO) is overpowered. Besides that I've been enjoying the game a lot.
I bought around 36 games that came out in 2015 and i mostly play with my wife and daughter. So the games aren't that heavy but fun to play with my family. 1: Pandemic Legacy 2: Time stories3: 7 wonders : Dual 4: Elysium 5: Champions of Midagard 6: Among the stars : Revival 7: New York 1901 8: The voyages of marco polo 9: Dice City 10: The grizzeld
If there is not an expansion for Elysium, I will be so disappointed. So many more Gods and it's a great game. My game group likes it and it is easily on our Top 10 lists for the year. (My personal #1 for the year followed by 7 Wonders Duel at #2).
