Very lively and fun rendition! The ornamentation is so playful and effective.

That is part of the baroque practice when performing repeats. It ads variety and give room to the performer's ability to improvise.

I just love this video containing a small story of victory, where Jason at one point makes a small mistake and when repeating, he not only plays the same place correctly, but to show his mastery, also plays an amazing melodic ornament that knocks down all his and our doubts about who's the main man here - Jason Vieaux!!! As if he said: "I was just testing if were even listening" ;)

@ArturoL2009 He's making a recording, its not a performance. Therefore theres no problem if he uses music, its doesnt create a barrier to the listener in the way it can when its a live performance.

@stevi1998 He is playing from Koonce's edition of the complete bach lute works. I have this edition, and the gigue is two pages long. but he does play it well...who cares if he has a score?

How did you vibrato the open D string at 0:05 ? Did you press down on the string on the headstock?

That's a Neil A KJOS Music Company Edition, prepared by Frank Koonce. It includes the manuscripts and very good notes on performance practice. On top of that, the price is a bargain!

This would look great on my giant flat screen tv. Hint Hint. Why aren't more classical performanced released on DVD/Blue Ray?
