This may be the best one of these Sunday Conversations yet. Interesting perspectives on media and the black community that I hadn't really thought a lot about.
This is a Sunday conversation that most Americans can understand. This made it great. I love the high level talks, but this one was the one for the people and it rocked! Great job!
Whitlock referenced Thomas Sowell to a house slave. People are giving him a pass I won’t. Don’t champion Whitlock until he gives reason as to why he would say such an idiotic thing.
Yeah Whitlock’s not bad, but Ben should get Glenn Loury on. He’s a black economics professor at Brown and has his own small podcast, but he’s done episodes with Sam Harris, Bret Weinstein, and some others in the supposed IDW. He has some of the best rants I’ve ever heard on race and politics. The Sam Harris episode was genius, but every episode of his podcast is golden.
Jason needs to get in better shape so he can stick around longer. The black community needs him. I'm sure this will come off as mean but I really like his views.
2024 Ben is elected POTUS. His inaugural speech sounds like this... "Today, we Americans stand together. Not as memebers of groups, but as individuals. United as one to fight the forces of evil, tyranny, and oppression. Our ancestors fought and died to give us individual liberties. Those same principals which allow us to be individuals, also brings us together as a nation. The founding fathers drafted a perfect document known as the US constitution. More on the constitution in a minute, but first, I would like to say thank you to our sponsers over at policy genius..."
48:30 Mark My 3 Rules of Trump 1. Pay little attention to what he tweets 2. Pay some attention to what he says 3. Pay a lot of attention to what he does. If you follow these 3 rules, I believe you'll find your (political) life will be much better.
Logan Waltz I do?...Why? Trump has turned out to be a much better President than I thought he would be. During the GOP primaries I was ABT (Anyone But Trump), when he won the GOP nomination I was dragged kicking and screaming into voting for him (well actually voting Against Hillary), Who knew he would govern as what center right Republicans have wanted for decades. Remember Donald Trump is not a conservative, he is not a leftist/liberal, he is a party of one....and I don't have to vote for him, I probably will, assuming he runs...but I don't have to.
Honestly was not a huge fan of Whitlock before this (grew up in KC reading his columns) but he’s showed me a different side of him that I really like and respect
I also grew up reading Whitlock in the Star. Two things you can always say about him: 1. He thinks way outside the box 2. He makes you think And yeah he says a lot of crazy things but imo it's somewhat forgivable.
Anthony Carpio I never said I endorse every aspect of him, but he is no doubt a free thinker. That in the very least should be admired. I would love to see Sowell on this new series from Ben as well. I know he has appeared on the show, but he deserves more time.
I've seen every one of the Sunday specials so far. I was honestly expecting this to be the least interesting one, but it was by far the best one. I'm actually late for work now because I didn't want to stop watching.
DSJ_ oakinW Maybe conservative should know that this guy. Is playing a crowd he’s finding his niche. He’s not intelligent. Nobody says that and is intelligent.
Eric Massey Thomas Sowell is living isolated now, he has said that he just doesn’t want anything to do with the political world or just all the attention. But Ben did an Interview with him before
Black people are conservative and working class overwhelmingly. Yet, about 95% of the voices of black people are progressive. There's a disconnect here that people are just now beginning to see. It's refreshing. And I was a progressive black man.
The feminine emotion is in vogue right now. The pendulum swings back and forth...no worries. Dyson emotes and is facinated with empty 4 syllable words. Guys like Whitlock speak logic.
I have listened to the Ruben Report and watched a few of his videos. He is a very skilled interviewer, he remains calm and listens to the view of his guest. It does not turn into a Jerry Springer episode, which is a personal requirement of mine. Thank you for the reply.
Wow. This resonated to me on so many levels. Mostly the part of making politics our God. I have become more and more aware of this in my own life and it's extremely toxic.
Ok, I'm only 20 minutes in, but I'd like to make one comment. Ben, I love these interviews, but there has got to be a better way to do the advertisements. I know your company wants to make its money, but it throws off the flow of the conversation. Just feels unnatural and clunky.
Ross Robertson yeah. Twice they have been in a great part of a conversation, then cut to the ads. I'm cool with them wanting to make their money, but there is probably better way to make it all flow together.
Love all of these conversations, but it was refreshing to get someone who isn't a hyper-intellectual this time. Just much more relatable. Awesome again, keep it up!
Sounds like the blame game to me. Everyone is self-righteous. Including Shapiro and Whitlock. Just sayin' people are not as simple as these two make them out to be. Life does not fit into their boiled down takes. Bias in the police is real. Systemic racism is real. AND many of Whitlock's views are legitimate. I think more perspectives would have helped this interview between two like-minded people. It is of some value that they are superficially different, but have the same socio-political standpoint, though.
Even though this conversation was heavily about politics, it really didn't feel all that political. It felt like a normal, nuanced one-on-one conversation that I got to be privy to. It was wonderful.
I have lived in KCMO my entire life and have followed Jason's career, we love him here, he's been speaking the truth for many decades, wonderful interview Ben.
I was never a fan of Jason based on his past work. I wrote him off after a few articles I read. This interview has changed my mind. Great guy with an incredible message.
This may have been the best interview I have ever heard. Your guest was right on the money. And Ben, your interview was a breath of fresh air. No yelling, screaming, or fists pounding just good questions and insightful answers.
These are the types of conversations that need to be shown on TV. Not a Whitlock fan but not a hater either but it is great to listen to his perspectives on all the subjects discussed. I'll admit this has been my favorite thus far. Keep them coming Ben.
Jason Whitlock, MAGNIFICENT. What A Interview One intelligent man. Thank goodness a fantastic role model for our young people. Jason has earned the success praise & recognition he is receiving. Just a inspiring life story for young American males. Determination, Perspiration, Self Respect, Integrity. Are just a few descriptive words that come to mind regarding Jason! Cruzer In CT
Let's not go crazy, here. It's different, but there be a lot of holes in his thinking. At least he seems like he would be game to being challenged. He is part of the media and there are values in that ecosystem that are not as pure as the ethics of sportsmanship. That is a good place to start before anointing him as the guy with the answers.
I really enjoyed this conversation. I think this one is my favorite at this point. Jason's views and points/arguments have caused me to rethink some of my own views. I love being challenged in this way because it can only make me a better person. Thank you Ben and Jason for having such a great conversation.
Kapernick means well but has no idea. As a white person, who grew up in the "ghetto", Jason says it perfect..Colin is creating conversation about the Anthem not the issues. He grew up privileged and has no idea the struggle of poverty and then add race and there are added issues. Tired of him to be honest
Mr. Shapiro , im a huge fan of what you do. Another huge fan of what you do that I'd love to see you speak with is John Lovell. He's a retired army ranger, man of god, poet/ philosopher, and firearms instructor. I think their could be a lot of good information and opinions shared between you two.
Really respect Jason's calmness and willingness to simply talk. I didn't like Obamas policies, but I respect the position and his right to have his own opinions. This is what we need more of. People need to stop searching for the furthest extreme to go to.
Jason has an excellent and accurate world view. This was an excellent episode of Sunday Special and as a sports fan, a welcome addition to the lineup. I am now convinced that one of the biggest issues we are facing as a nation is single motherhood, regardless of race. The democratic party in the 60's sought to dissolve the black family as divorce rates have skyrocketed and unmarried pregnancies has as well. The Church body has failed miserably at this.
An hour goes by pretty fast in this one. Thanks for coming on Ben's show Jason. We need more mature prominent figures like yourself out there fighting the good fight for our moral compass.
This guy is spot on. Responsibility. Tired of anytime someone gives advice with that in mind they are called racist. There is nothing more I could want then to see the black community and individuals in general forge themselves forward and upward with that in mind. Any rational person knows responsibility is the ONLY thing you can depend on. Seeing the media saying they need OTHERS to do certain changes and actions to bring the individual a chance is a recipe for failure. Stop looking for someone to save you or make things easier for you. Like the above man...If you want to get ahead there are no shortcuts. If you want to take control of your life then that is on your shoulders. The only person holding you back is YOU. Despite what media may say that goes for any color, yes white included. GROW UP AND MAN UP.
I love listening to people who actually get whats really going on in this country. I love his distrust in politicians, distrust in the media, and the fact that he sees through the BS w/ what's going on w/ the Black Lives Matter movement. He has a very open mind and is able to think for himself and he sees the world a lot like I do. The world needs more people like us. Thanks for doing this interview, Jason Whitlock!
I really enjoy this format. So far all great choices for interviewees. Some people I would like to see; Michael Eric Dyson, Bill Maher, Jason Chaffetz, James Woods, and just for shits and gigs Zoey Turr.
26:43 "...you have to take ownership of your own destiny in life. And if an America has a track record of, that if you're willing, you'll find some success here. There's just too many examples of it..." BOOM!
This conversation hits on so many issues and facets of those issues, it was really well done. One of the best ones, yet, Ben. Thank you for your insight, Jason
I love this format of intellectual and open discussion. I would have never thought Jason is so articulate, logical, patient, and understands the social engineering that is going on from the radical left. flat out impressed with his intellect. I basically got to know him as a person today. Good job Ben!
I'm a sports troglodyte and never heard of this gentleman but I could listen to him for hours. How much more civil political discourse would be if were all had his amazing outlook
I mean, if they have something intellectually to add to America's current political state than sure. I don't think the Daily Wire cares about which gender is featured.
this was a great interview ... specially the very last part when he speaks about how people can be bigots and yet not let that get in the way of attempting to be a good person. In striving to treat everyone with respect despite ones bigotry..
