Islam was 13 pounds overweight the Wednesday before his Friday weigh in vs Volkanovski. He had a bad weight cut, and he didn't rehydrate. To Javier Mendez's credit & all of their credit, they didn't use it as an excuse. I will bet this is a reason Khabib decided to get more involved this time, because he knows things went wrong & Islam almost lost his belt. This time, Islam will be what he is: bigger, faster, stronger, and younger than Volkanovski. Lastly, Volkanovski is absolutely fantastic. There is nothing to disrespect about him.

Dana White has revealed that he has asked UFC staff to get this Islam Makhachev quote put up inside the Apex and the P.I. “What does this title represent? Islam was 5 pounds lighter in that fight which is all water weight. I think it for sure had a lot to do with his power and stamina. If he comes in fuller he will be much stronger which volk is not expecting.

Cant wait to see the true p4p #1 islam and am glad coach javier told that story when he came from mexico we need to hear those stories too as a mix cuban african and spaniard i known exactly how that feels.

Chimaev was the goat even before he was conceived! He's the greatest fighter of all time! He's gonna take 2 or 3 belts and retire undefeated! He's unbeatable!

Not even Gordon Ryan submitted Dillon. On all the matches I’ve seen them do it was super competitive and Gordon would barely squeak out the win.

Looking forward to next weekend. Inshall and still. Edit: What concerns me a bit is how well Volk was able to neutralize Islam's grappling last time. It'll be much more difficult for Islam to beat Volk without being able to execute Father's plan.

I agree with Javier, but it doesn't change the fact that 2 weeks ago Volk was relaxing and not preparing for a 5 round battle. It's not an excuse that Volks' lack of training and preparation benefits Islam... Who else was willing to take on a beast like Islam on such short notice??? Gamrot? What if they had NO ONE and had to pull Islam from the card? I think Islam wins comfortably in this rematch but the credit goes to Volk here for potentially saving the main event.
