i think javier should do more solo work. Tosin is incomparable, but I can't get enough of the way Javier writes.

It's crazy to think that Tosin gets all the credit for Animals as Leaders, but Javier contributes to their sound greatly! His work on the 8 string is incredible.

what people dont understand is that animals as leaders started as a solo project by Tosin. This is why the first album is so different the the rest of the stuff they've put out.its becauseTosin WANTED to be in a band and allowed javier to add his own stuff, and the result is pretty unique. In fact, Tosin admited that he learned a lot from Javier, who is more of a classical then a heavy metal guitarrist. So Tosin is probably faster but javier is the soul of the band. He's not a second class piece in AAL, and i'd say that while Tosin has an incredible mind and is very humble to accept being in a band, he's also lucky to have found such a great partner. And dont get me started on Matt, he's on a league of his own.

Tosin makes music for the brain. Which I love. But Javier makes music for the heart. Not a single word but this song says so much Mestís is easily the best couple of bucks ever spent for me. Thank you, Javier.

I won’t say who’s better(each has his strengths), but I really enjoy Javier’s playing. There’s a big difference between those who play fingerstyle and those who play with classical technique. Reyes pedigree as a classical guitarists really brings another dimension to what he does in combining jazz and metal. Beautiful playing.

Met this guy after the AAL concert in Austin, TX. He's such a nice guy and a total inspiration to me! Keep doing your thing, Javier!

You know, people say look at Animals as Leaders and think it's all about Tosin, but Javier plays such an important part as well, and is a brilliant guitarist in his own right... props to the unsung hero!

This is superb production work, the stage, lighting, cameras, and the sound is really, excellent! We watched some of the other video on this channel too, consistent sound and picture, top notch all the way around!!!!

Animals As Leaders began as Tosin's solo project, and he wrote, recorded, produced, etc. the first album with Misha. Javier and Navine joined when AAL began to play live, and then a couple of years later recorded weightless as the full trio. (With Matt Gartska having replaced Navene last year)

I love the emg x series pickups. Put a set of 707x in my Schecter Loomis, and I was amazed at how they bring out the sonic qualities of the wood choices of the instrument's build. I just ordered a Carvin 8 string, and if their stock active pickups aren't too scooped like the Blackouts or too harsh like dimarzio d activator, I will be putting in a set of 808x's.

Both are amazing musicians and have known and learned from each other for much longer than Animals as Leaders was formed. I prefer Tosin's technical progressive stuff but Javier's latin/classical/jazz compositions are beautiful and very soothing to the ear.

This is why AAL is amazing. They got Tosin on lead, with his metal and jazz style that he plays. Then they got Javier on rhythm with his awesome Latin/classical style.

It's so hard to get some of my friends to understand how amazing this is from both audio and visual perspectives.

I know, I watched those :) It has also been played live on AAL tours. The question confused me though, since it is on the album, albeit not Weightless :) The answer to the original question would be: Because it's a Javier solo piece and because Javier and/or the band didn't want it on the AAL release.
