I think a lot of people will regret passing on this guy. He was ranked 2nd in the nation with 21.9 yds per catch and led the Big 12 with 1,139 receiving yards. He's always a deep ball threat as he had a 65, 71 and 86 yard TD in 2023.
UCF Season ticket holder and I loved watching this kid play at the collegiate level. What a steal! The connection between Baker and Maye will be something to watch in Foxboro!
Start Joe Milton at QB and let Drake sit and watch and learn behind Brissett. I want them to suck for a few years until they roll out the future of the team.
@@BostonsF1nest bro that will never happen😂 they aren’t gonna start their 6th round pick and let there 1st sit. You fucking delusional. Brisket over there will most likely start, and if he sucks a fatty then drake will come in😂 cmon get with it kehd
Baker reminds of a taller and overall bigger version of Steve Smith. The previous regime would have never drafted him for having too much "nasty baller character" and not enough "goodie two shoes, high character". About time for some things to change and evolve.
Look I love this new regime under MAYO & WOLFE but no coach or GM in NFL history has given 2nd chances to players with character issues like BILL BELICHICK did... I.E. RANDY MOSS, ALBERT HAYNESWORTH, & ANTONIO BROWN...
@@raymondwashington9456It's true that BB brought in quite a few proven vets, some with a few question marks in terms of character fit with the Pats. Those were mostly proven vets who were free-agent, low-cost trade opportunities on the cheap. When it came to drafting, however, he virtually always went for these high-character guys who could coax a sinful blush out of a choir boy. It was as if high character mattered more to BB than actual talent. And you could see this in the staggering number of failures drafted at WR. You do this enough times over the course of 20+ years with the Pats and it becomes a pattern. What I do know for sure is that BB would have never drafted J. Baker, so I am happy to see a different approach applied to drafting the position.
@@raymondwashington9456 And Aaron Hernandez, who was completely off the board of some other teams due to character concerns. And it was nowhere near the same degree, but Jack Jones had legal problems (burglary) in college.
@@milanmilanov348 you must've forgot JACK JONES had a burglary charge coming out of college or AARON HERNANDEZ for that matter... All bill cared about was can you play football and he gave second chances like GOD did for mankind...
This dude's draft combine results are the exact same as Antonio Brown! 😱 If Patriots develop this dude right and he put in the hardwork, this dude will be a monster!
The delusion is thinking Maye will work. Same way majority of Pats fans believe in McCorkle.. we should've gotten Penix. I'm just trolling. Keyboard warriors I'll tell ya..
Looks really good. Went lower cuz cuz he doesn’t seem super physical or have super good RAC ability but his route running and catching abilities clearly look above 4th round caliber.
Between Drake Maye saying, "You want to gameplan with me, not against me" Jay'Lin Polks comments after being drafted, and Javon Baker coming in with a chip on his shoulder immediately counting the number of WRs taken before him, I'm ready to run through a wall this season! I think Maye will sit this year, maybe he will get a few starts at the end of the year just to speed him up a little, but 1 more off season with a bunch of cap space and another draft next year and I'm guaranteeing this team will be in the playoffs in the 2025-26 season
A lot of body catches and unnecessary jumping at the catch point however so many of those passes are low and high and off target even the screen passes lol he def looks electric
Speed - Javon Baker ran a 4.54 second 40-yard dash at the combine. Arizona Cardinals: Michael Wilson, 4.58-second 40-yard dash, Dallas Cowboys: Dez Bryant, 4.52-second 40-yard dash, Pittsburgh Steelers: Hines Ward, 4.55-second 40-yard dash. Javon Baker will be fine.
Speed - Javon Baker ran a 4.54 second 40-yard dash at the combine. Speed - Ja'Lynn Polk ran a 4.52 second 40-yard dash at the combine. Philadelphia Eagles: Devonta Smith, 4.54-second 40-yard dash.
Size - Ja'Lynn Polk is coming into the NFL listed at 6'1" tall, weighing 203 pounds. Chris Godwin, 6'1" 208 lbs, Jerry Jeudy, 6'1" 195 lbs, DeAndre Hopkins, 6'1" 218 lbs. Speed - Ja'Lynn Polk ran a 4.52 second 40-yard dash at the combine. CeeDee Lamb, 4.51-second 40-yard dash, Davante Adams, 4.56-second 40-yard dash, Devonta Smith, 4.54-second 40-yard dash. This gives you an idea of the type of athlete that Ja'Lynn Polk is.
Polk also had 1K+ Yards and 9 TD's playing across from Rome Odunze whom had 1600 Yards and 13 TD's and went #9 Overall. Polk flew under the radar in the draft process due to Odunze being so good.
@@jonathanwatson5818 You just named a bunch NFL receivers and their 40 times lol. Are you trying to say a time in the mid 4.5’s is “elite”? None of these guys are good comps to Polk.
@@jonathanwatson5818 He was also the WR3 on Washington when Odunze and Jalen McMillian were both healthy. Look at the stats from 2022. McMillian had over 1000 yards and 8 tds. Polk had 650 and 6 tds.. McMillian was hurt most of this year which gave Polk more opportunity. But he played in an offense that threw almost every play. So I wouldn’t say 1000 yards and 9 TDs is groundbreaking. Oregon had 2 guys at 1180 yards and 1400 yards and double digits TD’s and they played one game less. Franklin actually played 2 less games. So I don’t really see your point.
They picked two receivers that pair well with the QB, both have REALLY good numbers on deep throws which Maye is known for and Alex Van Pelt has mostly worked with rosters that run a West Coast Offense. Seems they have a strategy
2 guys with great hands 6'1 200lb 37" verticals 4.5 40's but they have their slight differences. Polk can block well Baker looks like he can run a route better. Both can switch into slot if they want to run Thornton outside to drag out a fast cornerback or maybe we draft a faster guy next year. It's a good fit if they make it in the nfl level
