Hi again, how are you? A couple of months later your arrangement became a fixed part of my own standard repertoire. Thanks again for sharing it! I really like it. Coming back to your video I see two differences to my own play: D sus2 needs no thump, and, imho more relevant: Having recently consciously changed this, I think it is far easier by (4:23), when returning to G from the stretch, to directly come back to middle finger on 6th and ring finger on 1st string. For one that is a more natural G grip, for two the index practically falls on the 'a' on the 3rd string - - as needed one measure later, and finally, the hand already relaxes into a shape that is more compatible with the C melody coming after that.
Hey Markus! I'm with you - this is a great piece and it remains firmly in my repertoire. I'm glad you have modified it to suit your playing style, I hope everyone does...finger placement, accents, tempo, key, everything! The tradeoff with swapping to a more natural G shape after the big stretch is losing the ringing on the low G...I do repluck that note (unlike the tab shows...I really should update that) so you aren't losing much. So I agree! Rock on, keep changing it! You posted a video of it somewhere yet? :-)
@@jawmunji Thanks for your thoughts. Didn't think of sustain at this G. Video of my own? You are sending me a challenge! Ecstasy is yours. Besides you play it far better than me. However, I have lately done the 2nd part of an arrangement I began more than 20 years ago for a simple piece that is close to my heart, and am thinking of doing a youtube upload once in my life of that. But youtube is hostile for the most part and the thing still needs both practicing and optimization on my part before I'll dare such an endeavor.
@@markus-hermannkoch1740 ha, yeah, RU-vid is hostile, but you gotta stay above that. The important thing is everything else you need to do to "perform" a video on RU-vid. Plenty play this song better than me... that's another issue, let go of perfectionism and just post! I can't stand nearly all my videos, ha ha, but I post anyway. I try not to compare myself to others playing, and I celebrate astounding guitarists, there are some amazing kids out there that make my jaw drop! If I compared I'd give up. Strive to get better, be happy where I'm at. So... I look forward to you submission :-)
