What’s happening in this Jaws 2 movie clip?
The teenagers have swam to the edge of Cable Junction; Jackie and Sean remain on the boats. Using an inflatable raft, Brody (Roy Scheider from The French Connection) taps the power cable with an oar to lure the shark toward him. The shark bites the cable, electrocuting it.

What’s the Jaws 2 movie about?
The day after the inauguration of a luxurious hotel complex, Martin Brody (Roy Scheider from The French Connection), the chief of police of Amity, learns of the disappearance of a team of divers. He fears the worst. A shark had already come to swim in the waters of Amity a few years earlier. His worries are soon confirmed. Another accident occurs and the corpse of a whale bearing the bites of a giant shark washes up on the beach. Martin Brody immediately alerted the mayor and asked him to ban swimming. But the city council refused to take such precautions. The season looks promising and the financial stakes are too high. Brody, who had become too much of a nuisance, was removed from his position. He is reduced to waiting for the worst...

Roy is the reason why Jaws 2 is a decent follow up. His performance alone (not to say there aren't other decent things like John Williams' music) is the reason this movie works, even if he had a bad attitude on set and didn't want to return due to contractual obligations, he turned in a great performance.

@@nobshistoryengineering4421 Dude, I love it that you guys commenting here all love it, that's very cool. I wasn't comparing it to other films today (you're right, there are some stinkers), but as a stand-alone movie, it just felt a bit flat and paint-by-numbers and really didn't do it for me.. Just had a look and IMDB has it as a 5.8/10, with 61,000 having voted. I'd say that's about right. Definitely nothing special but it's all about opinions. Jaws 3, however, really IS a stinker! Jaws: The Revenge is one of the worst movies ever made. How the shots of the shark with a clear revelation of the mechanical components under the shark made it past the director and editor is clear indication of just how bad they knew it was and didnt care to edit it out. Awful acting, lousy writing, and terrible art direction ( the shark seems to grow in size and looks like paper mache) add to this disaster of filmmaking.

I love it when animals can try and out think human beings. They usually end up dead. And Roy is a good actor. Just like watching anything to do with the actor Tom Hanks, in Sully, based on a true story, crashing in the East River. I like singers, like Brittons got talent, Susan Boyle, came out of nowhere, to win,she also won,now she's is on a World tour .I love entertainment, like most Americans .

Jaws 2 was exactly what Jaws set out to be. A well done B-movie that was entertaining to watch. Of course, Jaws had to go off and surpass every expectation, but the sequel is still a good flick and lived up to the essence of what it should have been.

From this scene one thing I always wondered about is just how much voltage was coursing through that cable that Brody used to kill the shark it must've been a lot considering hearing it and seeing it when the shark bit down on that cable it must've been insane.

Jaws 2 is really not a bad film.. I might say it's pretty good.. but it had the unfortunate side effect of following a masterpiece which is why people trash Jaws 2 and say it's bad.. Jaws 2 certainly doesn't deserve to be trashed.. 3 and 4 are horrible though.. Jaws 2 was close to being a great movie in certain aspects.. but John Williams composed back to back masterpiece soundtracks for the Jaws franchise.. Jaws 2 soundtrack is actually pretty underrated one of John Williams more underrated scores probably just as good as he's soundtrack for the original film.. John Williams was a master..
