absolute treat to hear this guy talk. my girlfriend and I just finished listening and we both came out of it really blown away. I really appreciated his perspective on the creative process, how it's natural for every step of the process to change from the script. loved hearing about what directing work was like too. feels like he really knows his stuff

him talking about how season 1 of spongebob looks so different not just because of cels but because of how they drew it really opened my eyes! Wonderfull episode!

Jay Lender is by far the best guest this show has had yet! This episode was so informative; I might just watch it twice! Jay needs to come back on here just to talk about more of his experience in the animation industry.

It’d be really cool if you guys could get Derek Drymon on the podcast! He had a huge part in seasons 1-3 of SpongeBob and the 1st movie, wrote on Adventure time, worked on Hotel Transylvania 4 and so much more!

Now, as someone who is a SpongeBob fan, I wonder if Brian Robbins can pardon Jay Lender. Because a Nickelodeon President who was known for major blacklisting (and even illegal blacklisting) was Cyma Zarghami, another one known for that might’ve been Herb Schannel, especially when Mitch Schauer was blacklisted from animation by him and Cyma after the Bye Bye Beavers incident. Nickelodeon has been known for doing stupid decisions, but if it is possible, I would’ve been surprised if Nickelodeon pardoned Jay Lender. Whether it be from Robbins or Iger or Coleman, if Paramount Global and Nickelodeon get bought by Disney.

Honestly this might be my favorite episode. I like hearing people talk about animation and Jay Lender's voice is pretty relaxing man it's just so cool to hear what he has to say about his time in the industry.

Such a great episode! Jay provided so many interesting stories, some of which managed to change my own perspective on certain topics. Great work as usual for sure! :)

Man, I could listen to Jay share stories and anecdotes from working in the animation biz all day. He brought up Sherm Cohen when talking about the early days of SpongeBob. If he's not too busy, you should try to get him onto the podcast some time.

You know what this made me want? New fresh cartoony cartoons. Everything these days looks too nice, too polished and too "perfect". I want some zany, wonky, artistic cartoons. We need people like Jay to run their own new shows. We need a cartoon revival!

damn man, as much as i fuckin try i just can’t watch it comfortably. jays such a huge part of my childhood and i love mark ofc, but i’ve been with a serial cheater like veronica before man and its so painful dude, that shit left such a sour taste in my mouth, i hate that i cant fuckin listen to this podcast anymore without feeling unreasonably pissed, i really hate it, im sorry if this is out of place :(

Jay leaving SpongeBob is one of the worst things to have happened in TV History! The show went abysmal after he left, Jay always wrote the best episodes he is consistently a better writer than Paul Tibbitt or Aaron Springer who have written some abysmal episodes. Jay will always be my favourite writer on SpongeBob!
