To be fair NBC is the one who paid COCO 45 million to walk away. NBC wanted COCO gone for a while. If they really liked and or wanted him to stay they would not have offered him a big check to leave like that. Also he is doing so much better now anyways. Maybe NBC getting rid of him was the best thing to happen to him.

It's not like they got rid of Conan for Fallon, Conan left (understandably so) and Fallon came in, not Fallon's fault. Conan & Fallon are my two favourite talk show hosts.

@@nalie6754 If they're talking about Jay Leno, they have it backward. NBC replaced Jay Leno with Conan O'Brien and moved Jay Leno to 10:00 Monday through Friday. When that idea failed miserably is when they jettisoned Conan O'Brien and moved Jay Leon back behind the Tonight Show's desk.

well, lets say you work somewhere for 20 years, very well known in your field and a hot commodity. You are on top. There is someone under you whose been around not quite as long, but shows promise. Your bosses tell you in 5 years, that person will get your job, and you are done. (Leno told that in 2004). So that happened and he really didn't have a choice. But what NBC didn't is Leno is mainstream tonight show and Conan is much better suited to a niche market (cable TBS for example). So they say well Conan, this isn't working out, we want Leno back. Should Leno have said, no I'm done with NBC and gone to Fox or something, I'm not sure. But the Team Coco people should really point the finger at NBC execs for screwing up royally. Should Letterman have gotten the Tonight Show, he was good so maybe, but over the years the biggest numbers showed Leno on top, so the people spoke. Does that make him a better comedian, no, but that's the way it is. I personally don't like Conans standup, his filmed bits are where he truly shines and there is nothing better.

+Andrew Moser you need to take a chill pill. It's conflict of interest which side are you on? broken promise or greedy executives? there is such a thing as ethics for a reason.

Putting Leno beside Carson is a mistake. There is not comparison. Carson's Tonight Show was something people made a point of watching and celebrities made sure to go to. Leno was background noise. Leno profited off the Tonight Show brand. If Leno and Letterman's roles had been reversed, Leno wouldn't have been on TV for very long.

The Tonight Show died when Carson retired. It came back to life for awhile when the magical lepricon Conan took charge, but it died after his exit.

Fallon & the entire production team have been begging Leno to come on the show... for a VERY LONG time. Leno has turned them down repeatedly. I for one, am glad he finally gave in.

Conan rating stunk wasn't jays fault.

Actually, it was. Before Jay started his 30-min show, Conan's rating was good. After Jay's show started, it got bad rating, which led to the local news getting bad rating. Because the local news was the lead-in for The Tonight Show, Conan started getting bad rating.
