The Bugatti 37 with 1500 cc + supercharger some how was the founder car of the prewar "formula 2". The motorsport organisation in Paris decided to have a smaller sportive class below the 750 kilo - class where privateers and yound talents could get better into the sports. In France it was called the Voiturette Class in Italy it was Vettura- Class and until WW 2 Maserati 4CL and Alfa Romeo 158 have been developed for this class.

This car, and Jay's 65' Lambo Gt...my favorite rides in his garage. By the way, anyone notice the oil leak on the floor and then being mysteriously cleaned up without a break in the conversation? Go to 7:36 if you missed it. Then it goes back to not being cleaned, then cleaned again...who knows, maybe it leaked after Jay brought it back..it's all show biz...Oh god, there's a thumbnail of his Cord on the right...I might have to change my first statement....

8 years ago no one called em foreign cars anymore - now in 2022 the most up-to-date hip slang for them is "Foreigns"

Some of the most underrated cars of their era, Maserati’s are just as good as any other foreign car (they may not sound as sexy) without the gizmos of other car makers. Better get one soon as people are starting to wake up to these. Unfortunately for Maserati, they couldn’t keep pace with Lambo’s or Ferrari and their cars suffered in the 70’s. But I’d take a 60’s Mas any day of the week!!

The Maserati 3500 G.T. Iniezone, is a delicious piece with Aluminium tube coachwork from "Touring " in Milano. It is supposed to have 235 net HP and 235 km/h topspeed (147 m/h)

What does Jay say, Pierre Veyron was executed ?! I guess he confuses him with Robert Benoist he was member of the resistance movement too and was unfortunately caught from Gestapo and executed. Veyron had a construction company and died of natural cause in the late sixties I believe. He won the 24 hours of Le Mans 1939 in a 57 C Tank car. Robert Benoist won also the the 24 hours of Le Mans 1937 in the 57 SC Tank Car together with Jean Pierre Wimille.

I love that maserati.. I know it is incorrect to think, an offy with two more cylinders, injection, 2 years ahead of rochester, and a body ferrari could only miminck as a gto later. That is a seriously Special car.

Let us face it! That Maserati or the Aston Martin they talk of, or the Bugattis shown; these are just not even close to any Mercedes you could buy at the time these came about. They are just lame compromises, but not the real thing. A Mercedes has always been perfect, no other manufacturer has ever achieved or will ever achieve that status.
