Saw him open for the Black Keys. Had no idea who he was before the show. Man, they just plowed through their songs really fast with no breaks and it was a lot more "angsty" than most of the recordings. I like the melodic side and the Ramones-paced garage punk they played live. I paid to see the Black Keys, because I was heavily inspired by Dan Auerbach's guitar-playing, but I think I found someone better as an unknown mentor that night. He's giving angels bloody noses now. R.I.P.
@@chocolates182 The Pixies, Lips, Milkmen, hell Jawbreaker? About 40 Gen Z English pop bands? 25% of the 90's SoCal punk scene? Is this a decent song? Sure. But is it's already been written to death. Ask a real question. Ask the OP about "all" these musicians who tried to emulate a kid who broke out in 2006 that hadn't already "done it" retroactively? Hell I've got CASSETTE-TAPES off local bands that nobody has, or ever will hear of that sound like this. The only person who possibly MAY be "trying" to sound like Jay Reatard is the who wrote the so-ridiculous-its-not-even-bold statement you see above us.
Yeah, my friend who recently intro'd me to Jay's stuff did something similar; decided not to go to his show because he thought there would be another time. Goes to show that you gotta see the musicians you love at every chance cuz you never know what might happen to people. RIP Jay.
Every time i listen to a song of his i have the urge to pick up a guitar and start writing. I usually waffle and end up doing fuck all but it's beautiful
In all of the interviews I saw Jay in, he seemed like a swell guy, and when I discovered his music during the pandemic, then learning that Jay passed ten years prior to me discovering his music... Rest in Peace Jay (James Lee Lindsey 1980-2010).
he came to me in a dream and showed me the meaning of his suffering and why I shouldn't trip myself out so hard. I have it good!! unlike Jay, but his music will live on. R.I.P
A see-saw, I've had it walked again A see-saw, I've had it walked again You don't like what you see You must not care for me There's really nothin' to it And that is all I know There's really nothin' to it And that is all that I will show, to you A see-saw, I've had it walked again A see-saw, I've had it walked again You don't like what you see You must not care for me There's really nothin' to it And that is all I know There's really nothin' to it And that is all that I will show, to you She creeps me out She cranks me in again She creeps me out She cranks me in again She creeps me out She cranks me in again She creeps me out She cranks me in again She creeps me out She cranks me in again She creeps me out She cranks me in again She creeps me out She creeps me out
Does anyone know what this song is about? I think it's about how jay feels really emotionally unstable and doubts if his loved ones actually care about him at all. That's what I think at least
