Black hippy, A$ap Mob, Pro era, funk volume, young money and odd future... what a time this was for hiphop. Our gen was definitely the last to see this kind of impact on hip hop culture 😢❤ gone but never forgotten.
@@Meetwad hopsin is a cornball but funk volume was putting out bangers dizzy n swizzz deserved better atleast dj hoppa is still producing for alot of people
+paco suarez yeah, ab-soul has Steven Johnson syndrome when he was a kid his eyes were shut for like 3 months and now his eyes are extremely sensitive to light because of it
You been peepin’ Coast Contra around RU-vid? They showed up on the radar about a year ago and the whole goddamn group is on FIRE anytime they open their mouths.
2011 this feels like a lifetime ago. I was obsessed with these guys around the time good kid, control system and habits & contradictions released. so like 2012. they were all i listened to and reinvested my interest in rap after i lost it long before then. hard to believe it's been a decade!
Good times for rap music. Those albums along with live love asap, long live asap, watching movies and born sinner. Felt almost like a peak or a 2nd golden era.
@@zayotru Pro Era too, having Joey drop 1999 and Pro Era's PEEP the Aprocalypse was such a legendary time in rap. I wish we knew how good it was when we were living in it
The cole/k dot collab already happened it just hasnt been released. I think it will be released when rappers are being told theyre falling off. Cuase at the time it was done it could be said they were in their prime.
WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE ?! I remember vividly rocking this freshman year in highschool. I was the only person I knew who was this deep in rap. Everybody else was on pop or radio hit raps. Me and my crew were so underground with the music we listened to. In blessed to have gravitated towards this music by myself , no influence. Just what I love. I remember we would get off the school bus and all meet up at my friends Lovely’s house and sit on his back porch steps and just freestyle for hours. Great times. Simple times.
lol that's funny i just checked this because i just read something on facebook about people who correct others spelling, they suffer from a form of OCD and are the main people who think they're perfect.. which you do considering your profile picture.
Michael Rodriques Q recently said they're all focused on improving their solo careers and that a Black Hippy album is not a possibility. I tried not to cry, but I cried alot.
Jay Rock is just about to drop, apparently followed by ScHoolboy Q, and then it looks like the whole crew is going on a world tour. Not saying that the project is already in the works, but the crew did come together to lay something down for Jay Rock's album. Take whatever other ideas that were looked at, and then have the whole cliq (Black Hippy, SZA, Isaiah, production team, Punch, etc) together for a year long world for, and you might have something to run with
+Melan Zligga No its coming. Rock hinted it might have been recorded. Well a lot of it. Watch the hot 97 interview. plus they have a joint on rocks album.
+Meemin Channelz people forget that despite all the influence they had on hip-hop, N.W.A. never even charted on billboard back when they were still together. black hippy are still in their early years, in time, who knows what they'll accomplish.
Darren Katomski once they come out with a new album I will agree with you.... until then this black hippy is a thing of the past, sure they come out with a new song but that's all I've seen in the past few years
***** If it's not a masterpiece, why does it have 2 million views? IN comparison to lil weeny's kindergarden this is truly a new breath for hip hop culture!!! peace
Sainted187 "shabba" by asap ferg has like 17 million views,so according to your logic, a shit song like shabba can be a masterpiece. views don't mean anything. the song is good, just not a masterpiece
The whole song is fire but the fifth verse when they're all trading lines and playing off each other and finishing each other's sentences on some Beastie Boys shit is so pure. I wish we got a whole album like that from them back in the day, when they were all in the studio and touring together constantly.
Individually these dudes are all GREAT but together they are unstoppable. Each one compliments the other in their own way. It's crazy bc when you look at who they are as seperate people, they're styles, personal upbringings and souls are all different. That's what I think makes Black Hippy as a group so fuckin dope. The fact that they aren't all from the same hood wearing the same flags, but all individuals with their own meaning. Keep preaching my bros.
I have listened to this song so many times but this is the first time ive watched the actual footage and it makes so much sense now 😂😂 especially the part about the egg rolls 🤣 Kendrick looked so sad walking away
The creative side to make this is genius. It goes to show why they deserve everything that theyre getting. All it took to make this video is an average video camara and creative. If you you really want something theres no excusees, go get it! You dont need the best production or the video camaras. One of my favorite music videos of all time. Top 10.
mario rojas this is the reason i love hip hop, i love watching these guys with so much talent that come up from nothing and express themselves, so much style and flow, and they all have unique voices and styles and make it mesh perfectly one of my fave songs for sure
+mario rojas if you think there wasn't hella production value and budget money that went into this, you're wrong. I agree that it's a great creative video, but something like this would still be impressive to get out without a production company.
Remember hearing this track 10 years ago and blew my mind. Brought tears to my eyes seeing how far they've all come. Saw Kendrick Lamar live in Glastonbury for the first time ever. 🤯Here's to another 10 years of insane Black Hippy music 🎶
God damn the nostalgia, listening to this again 10 years later and Kendrick announced his upcoming album will be his last TDE album. Hiiipower Black Hippy✊🏽
Feezy Hussle that was all in 2011, rock ain't done shit since then and compared to kendrick, he didn't blow up lol he's gonna blow up this year guaranteed, along with soulo
This video is absolute Hip Hop legendary archival shit. This was just the start to the realest hip hop we all got to experience for the past 10+ years. Look at the clothes they're wearing, filming ETC. They didn't have any money, just talent! HOMIES STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM! I will show my kids this video one day. RIP BLACK HIPPY / TDE
What? Kendrick was on Ab-Souls latest Album. Jay Rock did Wow Freestyle with Kendrick. Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and ScHoolboy Q were together in the studio some weeks ago. Unless this is a reference to the "Oh, why R&B bitches don't feature on each other songs then?" Line you are way off. Sure they don't collab as much as they used too, but they certainly are still in decent contact.
Damn TDE has really come a long way. They are about to rise up to the top. Kendrick and Schoolboy Q won't be the only ones from TDE that everyone knows. Isaiah Rashad, Ab-Soul and even SZA too are all about to shine real soon. Can't wait for that Isaiah project dropping this year! Gonna be a good year for music.
Alzando Etcitty Unfortunately I didn't fuck with Jay Rock back when I wrote this comment. Since then I've listened to his album and I've got to say, he is talented for sure!
2024, don't see the people i used to listen to this with, they are all living their own lives, yet here I stay, in 2014, reminiscing about the times i thought were the best, never knowing the best is/has yet to come. god bless all of you
I miss this era so much, All of Top Dawg was popping off. Pro Era, FBZ, UA, A$AP Mob even the UK with artist like Ocean Wisdom I mean the list go's on and on. There was for sure a shift going on in the late 2000's to early 2010's to say the least.
