Yes! I love love love Mary, but the runs B did on the end murk everyone!!!!🏃🏾♀️🏃🏾♀️🏃🏾♀️ ijs...maybe jazmine could do it, but Bey bae!!! She worked them vocals O-u-T!!!!!
@@djonez4864 Facts The runs B did at the end...Whew Whee! One can not sleep on runs like 'dem. And...yes, Jazmine clearly could do those distinctive 'runs'....and the way that the instruments went to that place with her....whew whee....this was like a symphony! Total musicianship. Live band laced it!
Mary did a swell job on this song. She gives you that pain and soul that we all experience. BUT Beyonce also delivers as well. Her voice is strong, clear, and undeniable. Hey vocal ability and control is beyond greatness! They both get an A+. At the end of day its all about who you better receive the message from...Bey does it for me. ESPECIALLY the end! She took us str8 to church! Their chemistry together is like no other. Theyy know how to bring out the best in each other. Real Love!
The other day...I thought I need to hear that specific flute and that band again...the power of music! Goodness Gracious! Much credit to the keys....the changes; the pauses....great rendition!
This is so mellow! So smooth! Beyonce sings it her way; and Mary touches it her way. All signatures are star-riders....Sounds like The Roots had something to do with this arrangement. And...The flute is so meditative...This is totally the chill version.....
Mary shows her emotion her soulful voice I feel if it’s pitchy I love it because it’s her style everyone gets pitchy at times and Mary raspy voice in 96 is every thing!!
And Jaguar blows this out the park , well for me anyway. Beyoncé has a most beautiful voice, it just can never get to my soul like others who are considered inferior singers by some. Fantasia over Bey for me anyday people never expect.expect because I am a dancer, not professional , but a dancer still, when my body allows it to..so I love the dance performance, but the vocals just always seem to fall short lately except Her early work where she was still singing can’t seem to get in my soul. Everyone experiences music differently, I feel it like it possessed my body, I was very sensitive to it as a child, very sensitive to it. It taught me that I better respect the music and the power it can hold on me, so I learned to listen closer as I got older. Push and pull away to protect my energy, my soul ultimately.
Axel Desir Yeah they forgot ALL about the band who is repeatedly slept on. I thought it was a pleasant surprise discovering this Beyoncé version on the Kingdom Come bonus disc. I had the Mary J. featured version too. They're both great in their own way.
I love Jay-Z & that he revived the song Fool's Paradise & created his own rap around it. There's been arguments on which female did better on Jay's track but both Beyonce & Mary need to bow down the original female who did this song Me'lisa Morgan
Its always great when B switches back to R&B styled vocals. I like that B more than the current poptart B. ... but even still, overall, "Sorry B! Know one can sing this song alongside Jay better than MJB". It's a classic duet, and that's that. She didn't even recieve alotta applause or audience feedback. This is just a Jay Z/MJB thing... period.
I never said that Mary was not mainstream, just not as mainstream as Bey was and is now. Mary never had the mainstream love that say, Mariah or Janet or Whitney. Even she herself said that since her music is so organic that she would never crossover the way Mariah and Bey does. And she said it with no malice or hating when she did. I am a music fan first, as I said. If you are really a fan of MJB, you should know all this.
In fact, to say Beyonce is a gimmick is to say MJB is too because Bey is very much influenced by her. The only difference is that Bey/DC made Urban more mainstream. Mary didn't have that luxury because Urban music was not as popular. BBC Soul was talking about Mary and Bey, the video give a progression of Rhythmic music down the years(From Ruth Brown) and Mary AND Bey(as well as Kelly) gave mad love to each other. I mean, if you are going to be a Mary fan, at least know that...
Again, no argument. But think of this: Look at how big Urban Music has become. Never been this big in terms of the impact in the industry and Bey is a part of that because that's part of her sound and she brought it out there. Especially with DC. I know some Urban Music fans don't want to agree with this, but MJB fans should be actually proud that with artists like Bey did actually helped Urban Music to get to that point.
Thank you. This is what I was trying to tell this "poster", in fact, she called Bey a A+ singer and another time that she's a great entertainer and can really sing. Not to mention, Bey was influenced by Mary. I have love for both of them but only because we aren't saying that MARY is the best, he loses his mind. And I don't even think he is even a Mary fan. He just uses her to promote his trollism. Because the stuff you're saying, he should KNOW if he was really a Mary fan.
That's probably why people who prefer MJB's version, prefer. Plus it does fit her voice, her sound and her image as an artist. Bey is not as Urban, though this is part of her sound too. I also think people just don't want to believe this is sincere from her either.
Alayjia Stone it’s was from 2006 the 10th anniversary of reasonable doubt he performed the song from back to front with this being the last song he performed that night ..Mary j was on tour so he used Beyoncé
I see some people are knocking the vocals and as i listen she did the damn thing. Beyonce is pop but just like most singers from the church and might i add the south their voices can adjust to most generes and Bey is no different. I felt every word she sang: it was very soulful but of course people are going to feel indifferent b/c Mary was the original and they feel she should be the only one singing but give props were they are due. besides this is BLACK LOVE!!!
This is from the Reasonable Doubt 10th year anniversary show when he brought out sauce money I wonder why there’s no footage floating around that’s weird
I am not arguing with that but what I was saying is that New Jack Swing was the foundation for what Mary did. I am not saying she's not an innovator or trend setter. But I was saying is that Hip Hop and R&B had merged long before Mary did it. New Jack Swing was part of that and that set the stage for What's the 411. I personally that album is the most impactful album done by a female artist in the last 20 years.
@unbreakablekat - Exactly. I dont know what these people are talking about. In the original studio version Mary did her vocals were weak. I think some of these kats need to have a repeat listen
