I think Jay Z is like cilantro, some people taste a beautiful herb, and some of us taste soap! Jay Z rapping gives me anxiety. I feel like he is one sec from falling off the beat. My ears hear him like a half count behind the beat and it makes my teeth itch! I’m from NY, black and a woman. I listened to Jay-Z a lot, and evolved into listening to Eminem. Jay-z has become completely overrated, he wins all those awards just “because” and even his daughter got a Grammy! What about Hallie?! 😂 Em is definitely a better lyricist and artist in every way.
I'm from the UK and I'm white. When it comes to Eminem and Jay Z I really like and respect both of them a lot. In most categories I would have Em apart from album consistency, Jay's run from Reasonable Doubt to The Black Album was amazing like Em's 3 album run was from SSLP to Eminem Show but he dropped more in that period. As for what they've dropped since they've been both pretty up and down tbh.

Strictly lyrical, only Black Though is close to him and he doesn’t have enough material. His word play, flow, cadence etc. is on a whole other level. He’s just the best period. I didn’t give him a chance until the Eminem Show came out and he had Soldier and Til’ I collapse. Then I listened to everything prior and everything since. Guy is unbelievable and writes everything himself, which takes Wayne and Drake off the list automatically.
