This movie gave me strength to make a decision that prevent my life from turning like that of Jaya. I'm still scared of him but I'm glad things ended with him. Abuse is NEVER okay. I can't believe I put up with it for SIX months. Please if you are in such a relationship and want to escape, GET HELP. Not from someone who might support him. They're gonna force you to put up with all that shit. No matter how much your mind tells you it's all wrong. They force you to believe that something's wrong with you. They blame you for their faults. Please, you know something's off with your partner, LEAVE. You don't need a reason. It's YOUR life decision. Your happiness should always be your priority.

I was an arrogant husband... Hit my wife in only once in 4 yrs of my marriage till 2018, but was always constantly comparing her with other woman, throwing stuff etc etc.... i was an IT professional and she did not have a job eventhough she was an IT graduate. My parents were also toxic because dowry was less and she did not have a job. In 2018 we emigrated to Canada by me getting onsite. The life here, rules supporting woman, lack of any social pressure, all friends supporting wifes in their jobs, govt support for training woman, no ageism (means if you are 30 and going to work under a manager of 25 as a fresher, that is quite ok and people change careers in midlife). My wife took up the upskilling opportunity from the money she got as child benefit... She landed a job as a software deceloper with 85k salary. I changed myself and it is awesome to lead a mutually respected, financially independent couple. I blame my grandmother, my mother and my aunts for stupid Male chauvinism they forced into my head. Life in the west of gender equality, zero care for society's opinion, strict laws, lack of any moral policing etc makes life very good for all including our children. Marriage is not eternal unless mutual respect, equality and financial independence is guaranteed. Otherwise it is a jail.

This movie is trying to portray women as vulnerable victims of the society if they aren't independent and men as usual despotic husband who tries to control their wives. In reality men being quite imperious and manly at home is something that keeps their home secured while they always love and respect their women folk. But these days movies are emerging in such a way that all stereotypes of women being subservient are to be smashed and they should revolt against traditional system of Husband wife bond.
