Another history says that sringeri mutt had a branch at Kumbakonam,but this branch mutt broke away from main sringeri mutt and formed its own name as kanchi kamakoti mutt and acquired special rights to administer kamakshi temples also! And adi Sankara disappeared in the high mountains of kedarnath after his final visit! The claim of kanchi mutt of unbroken peetadhiathis for 2500 yrs is doubtable!!!!!!!!!!!!! And subsequent certain animosities between sringeri and kanchi mutts are also known!

Hilarious 🤣 thing is that you mentioned Kudli Sringeri as established mutt if Adi Shankaracharya... Sringeri is town name. Its not mutt name. Sharada Peetam is mutt name. Sringeri is the town where Vibhandaka and his son Rushyasrunga did Penance. That malahanikeswara temple is 100 km + far from so called kudli Sringeri. There is only one Sringeri., that ks Dakshinamnaya Sharada Peetam adorned by Jagathgurus like Sacchidanada Shivabhinava Nrusimha Bharati Swami ( Who revived Kalady), Chandrasekhara Bharati Swami, Abhinava Vidhyatirtha Swami, Bharati Tirtha MahaSwami and Vidhushekhara Bharati Swami (uttharadikari)...
