Jayalalitha came to politics because of the lust of MGR. She became CM because Tamilians don’t want a fellow Tamilian become CM because caste infighting. But she also knew that Tamilians are highly opertunistic and pull her leg at anytime. So she kept them away throwing some bones. many regionsl new year are celebrated from February, starting lunar new year for Chinese, and Sokran in Thailand which falls around this time.. it starts with Lunar calender and Solar calender in our culture.. so, new year around april is ideal form to follow the solar calender... not based on Harvest, Harvest is closer to end of Solar year
As far as i know, new year is celebrated when sun comes to exact 90 degree [ center of sky ]. I tamilnadu it comes in chitirai 1 [ Apr 14 ]...So, why to change ?.........probably there might be some logic for 60 calendar years as well......But for sure all politicians are changing and reclaiming it for their own fame...non sense

This guy is totally wrong in stating that Adi Sankaracharya called jnana sambadar as dravida sisu!!! Acharya used dravida sisu to describe himself and dravida is not a race but simply means south India.. I think he should read little more to get his facts right.

Any true Tamilian listening to this will laugh at the way he twisted the story, he is totally half baked and no clue about what has happened during saiva/vaishnava and baudha samayam. and Bhakthi margam which was needed at that time. Dravida word was first used by Azswars and Azwars called Nalayira Divyaprabhandam, as Drivada Vedam. Dravidam is not necessarily meant Tamil speaking clan, but region of Bharatha.
