Matty Harris is a music producer, mixing, and mastering engineer from Boston. As a young musician, he won several awards, most notably, the best drummer in New England. He toured with jazz, blues, and calypso bands, playing bars and clubs at the young age of 14. After High School, he attended Berklee College of Music where he studied Music Production and Engineering. Learning from some of the most accomplished producers and engineers in the industry. Since then, he has worked on countless records with such artist as; Atlantic Records, RCA Records, WB Records, Kelly Clarkson, Sammy Adams, A$AP Rocky, Logic, Lil Yachty, Cam Meekins, Just Juice, Action Bronson, Danny Brown, Fat Joe, Styles P, La Coka Nostra, and many more. He worked on the Grammy Award-winning song “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson and won the 2008 Boston Music Award for Best Hip-Hop/R&B Producer. He now lives in Los Angeles where he works with artists from all over the world helping them to realize their dreams.
Matty started his online mixing and mastering company, mixandmastermysong.com, with the vision of helping new artists get the same quality mixes and masters as the major label artists he works with. After realizing the advancements of technology, he knew it was time to launch his online mixing and mastering company when he no longer needed the effects of a “big room” studio to achieve high-end mixing and mastering.

As I like Jaycen's mixes and as I followed the plugin developpement through his socials (he started teasing it 1.5 years ago I think), this was an instant demo for me. And well, I can safely say that after thoroughly testing it, feeding it multiple types of materials... that this is one of the most useless pieces of junk I have ever installed on my computer. And I've installed MAAT FiDef. It's just a mediocre multiband processor preset, with a very restricted amount of control.

I was sold as soon as heading the bypass/active demo on the website ON AN IPAD. First couple tests… there’s definitely some secret sauce in this. Subtle. But magical. I appreciate the tip for trying to hit that level going in. Had no idea and couldn’t find a manual for it, so great to hear this. Sounded fantastic without even touching anything, so curious to explore working with these extra target levels. ⭐️🙏

@@Seathasky Paying $80 for a PROFESSIONAL tool one of the top experts in a field has put a lifetime of work into that produces results that’d cost THOUSANDS if contracting that same expert for to manually do that one APPRECIATES and is fully satisfied with the purchase is the complete OPPOSITE of a scam. (And not everyone is THAT cheap so as to misproject in such a way). 🧠

hey! Are those green targets for the multiband similar to the input in that we should aim to be in there? I LOVE this plugin - I did free trial and bought within SECONDS - saved time and massively simplified my mix and mastering process and love the sound of it and the limiter is amazing at adding gain without sounding squashed.

yup the green targets are ballpark where jay hits it. But you don't have to follow. Use your ears. :)

It's not exactly just the preset in plugin form, but probably based on the same processing chain. It's more than a fixed preset, since you can control the parameters. His original Ozone processing chain also has some stereo widening in the upper mids going on. Don't know whether the plugin does it too under the hood, but there seems to be no dedicated control (maybe it's one of the parameters that are affected by the big particle rotary knob?). I would buy this plugin for 30 bucks, not more.

Hi Matty, This plugin is soo good! I was wondering about do you still need the Bettermaker limiter? Are they gonna complement each other in a good way? Did you try them?

The bettermaker is so much more versitile than this plugin. It does pretty much all that the plugin does except for eq, but can be tweaked A LOT more

Hi, Is it enough to send my mix as a premaster to max -5dB through the god particle on the master and have my finished mastered song? Do I need the headroom of the mix? Sounds great! Thank you!

Yes just turn off the limiter (the power button right above it) and export.

Thanks Matty. Well done. The "high" part of the gain reduction section seems dead. Moving the high eq has no effect and most RU-vid videos on the GP show nothing happening in the top high indicator. Thoughts anyone?

Thats not a bad thing at all, jaycen said that just means you have a ''darker mix'', if the high end target doesnt light up thats fine. You just want the mids and lows to light up (thats most important).

Yah. You would put it on your master channel at the beginning of a mix.

I never looked to see if it has presets but I don’t think there are any. The point is it’s set already. You just need to hit the indicators.

Its funny seeing these god particle reviews. All of the people I think are good at mixing likes it and the rest hate it. I like it in both mastering and mixing. I don't like how it add gain tho when the limiters disabled. Makes me feel like Im clipping into the limiter.

Hi I dont get why using this plugin since we don't know what is the process inside ( i've heard this is a sort of izotope plugin chain) so we dont learn anything to improve our mixing skills and you better be careful with the limiter coz i think you were distorting the kick and bass a lot

Nothing impressive .. Just a basic EQ, that adds few dbs to make the music louder and a basic limiter.

I don't think you're paying attention to the stereo width. And even if its just an eq, that eq curve is calculated. Very impressive if used right; not impressive if you don't know what you're doing.

It's mixed. Definitely not mastered. He used it exactly the way it's supposed to. To add the little bit of mid range boost and stereo width needed before mastering.

Hey @mixmastermatty I have a bit of a different question if you're willing to share some info. I saw that you were a part of the first MWTM with JJ (21snaps). Did you also have to go through a selection process to join? And beyond that how did it have an effect on your career? I'm sure it was well worth the investment. What was the one thing you took with you that impacted you the most? Would really appreciate some insight. I applied for the masterclass in June :)

This plugin lies. You can't call a plugin a pro plugin until the volume does not rise when you activate it. It sounds like 2db louder, that's a joke

Then don't use it. But if you ever used an 1176 compressor they usually are louder or softer unless you adjust it.

@@manuchalud7455 I don't think it's fooling anyone. It has a limiter built into it. That's what limiters are used for 99% of the time on master channels....to make music louder. All of UAD plugins and waves plugins make things a bit louder. Turn the gain down and listen to what this plugin does. I use it on every single mix. It adds a width and weight that is fantastic. I don't use the limiter. Also, sometimes you can bypass the sidechain and not use the compression if the compression is too much for a song. Have fun with these tools man. They can do a lot of cool things.
