Great video. I'm going to pick up a 166 next week and I've been thinking about all the alterations I want to make. I never could see the space under the couch from any other videos but I knew I wanted to put stuff under there from the start. I also hate how the fold up table sits behind the couch (I want to put a spare sleeping pad behind there) so now I'm thinking about making it fit under the mattress if it is as thick as a 2x4 I think it would work pretty well (just need to change up the framing). I'm also going to make custom shelfs that hold the cup holder tables flush up against both side walls of the slide, or maybe they can go under the couch . I appreciate your videos and hopefully I can make some of my 166 soon!

I have been scouring researching small rv's. I want to upgrade from my tent trailer. You convinced me on the jayco you have. I drive a 2019 Ford Ranger and wanted a light trailer. I am also a B.C. resident. Lol Keep up the great content. 👍🏻🤘

Thanks for watching! Nice to see other BC people here. We had a Tacoma before we got our f150 and going to a half ton was a big difference in towing! However I’m guessing the turbo engine in the ranger would be pretty great too

@@LetsJustGoTravel the tow capacity for ranger in 7500lbs. So I want to keep it 5000lbs gvwr. Sounds like Jayco 166fbs is perfect. Keep up the great content. I plan on a cross country tour next year. If my crypto investments do well. 😄

Great videos! Looks like you guys upgraded your mattress. We recently got a 10 inch gel to fit our 54 x 80 front bed mattress. Any helpful hints on tucking in the back corners of the Beddy? Thank you!

I see yourselves and many commentators are in BC, any chance you or others have reliable deadlier suggestions for the Virginia or Central Virginia area? I think you have convinced me to get a 166FBS, my husband will be grumbly soon. Lolz

Great video and awesome upgrades! Have been eyeballing that storage space in our 166FBS for some time. Had considered spring-actuated hinges, but like the gas struts better. Would you be able to post a link to the struts you used? Thanks for your great videos!

It is interesting that the highland ridge 16fbs (Jayco clone) has cabinets under there and Jayco doesn’t.

I actually have the HR Range Lite Air 16FBS. You are correct. But, the HR does not have the cabinets above the sofa.

I'm digging this camper. I want to build a cargo trailer camper 7x16 V nose with mini split AC/Heat (propane backup heat), but if not - this is looking about right for me. I want more Solar tho - 400 Amp hours lithium batteries and 800 watts in panels and don't like noisy rooftop ac.

What happened with the slide repair? Curious about response time from Jayco as I’ve been reading some scary reviews about build quality and support from builders. Great review as always. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for watching! Our slide motor is held onto a mount via a quarter-inch bolt. The threading that the bolt sits into has become stripped (not the bolt itself. it is the receiving end that has become stripped). Requires replacement of the mounting point for the motor. The thing with most RVs is that they are generally all hand-built and are subject to human error with construction. That coupled with the fact that we're towing them down the road with the equivalent of non-stop earthquakes all the time, means some things will rattle loose. I would say most RV manufacturers have the same susceptibility of breaking down or having problems (although Jayco has longer warranty than most other companies which helps a lot). It comes down the the dealership that sold it to you and how reliable they are with service and consistent quality of service. So far this issue is the only one i've faced where I've had to take it back to the dealer to get work done. We tow a lot and go down plenty of less-than-ideal roads so to me these issues are to be expected. Just a matter of when. It also helps to have a general knowledge of handyman type stuff so you can fix minor things yourself.

I had the left roller fall off the azdel wall. So I built a frame out of 2x4's and installed four more rollers. Now it slides on the new frame and not the wall. Then I used brackets that are normally used to secure bed slats on bed frames to hold the couch fascia on. It slides up and off easily. I really like your hamper idea, I may do the same thing myself. 1. Instead of the having the black piece up top creating the gap, could the upholstered part be up higher where the black piece is? 2. Has this modification changed the structural integrity of the front cushion support so they don’t sink over time?

Unfortunately if we moved the upholstered piece up then it won’t have enough room to do the hinging action of opening with the gas struts. Where we placed it was the highest position it can be in without affecting the hinge. No difference in cushion support as they were not dependent on that piece before . Thanks for watching!

Thanks! The bypass is under the bed. Just lift up the mattress and there’s a small panel you need to unscrew to get at the water heater

Hi, Great videos! I’m interested in Jayco 166FBS. However, I have a Highlander SUV with tow package and 5000 lb tow capacity and 500 lb hitch weight capacity. Although the specs say these trailers are within the Highlander’s capacity, the hitch weight worries me since I read it can be over 600 lbs with propane and battery. Do you know your (loaded) hitch weight, or can you advise what trailer will work for me? Thanks!

Thanks for watching! You will be over your hitch weight for sure once you add batteries. I’d say if it was just a trailer that you’re using for short trips, few times a year during summer etc. then you would probably be fine. But any sort of extended towing or living fulltime in it, I would consider another tow vehicle or a smaller trailer. You can look into Jayco’s smaller Jay Flight SLX trailers. They will be within your capacities. Sorry I don’t know the exact weight of mine as I’ve never weighed it.

Jayco forgot a wardrobe closet for hanging clothes. Any thoughts on how to add one and where? Perhaps above the toilet, or modifying the top pantry closet?

Hey love the video, we are replicating some of the storage ideas y’all did. Quick question, how did you attach the shelve support on the right side of the pantry (near the refrigerator)? I don’t want to put a screw through there and damage the refrigerator.

Thanks for watching! Don’t worry about hitting the fridge just get a small enough screws. I believe we used 3/4 inch screws for that part. No danger of hitting the fridge

@@GrapeApeJLU we love it! Before we had a 4 inch foam topper on the factory mattress but it still wasn’t great. This new one feels like a real residential mattress. However I do notice that my head is quite a bit closer to the cabinets when I sit on the bed so there is a trade off. But the comfort totally outweighs that so no problem !
