Jayco Class C Motorhome Factory Tour!! 

10:30pm on a Saturday night, Netflix is on the TV, but I'm instead watching a 40 minute video on how Jayco class C's are built 😆. Excellent video.

Yes on the 12 volt refrigerator option. With the prices of all fuels going up. Putting together solar packages, is going to become more important.

Great video as always Josh. The factory has been closed for tours for the past two years so this was a great opportunity to see one built. We just took delivery of our 2022 Greyhawk 29MVP with full body paint. Would love to see you do a video of the painting process.

All electrical, structural, plumbing built by unqualified cheap labor. As detailed by the shit welds shown and the hand wrapped cable terminations. T&G plywood is better than glued chipboard - Chipboard get wet and off gasses the adhesive - toxic. The cabinetry will probably be superior build quality due to the skills of the Amish, however, then get the hell beat out of them as they slide down the dirty abrasive chute. The roof is still being built to leak - the best roofs have heat sealed raised flanged openings with secondary gussets. Carlyle TPO 60mil thick. no pour on self leveling crap sealant. The manufacturers don't care because they just need a year to get rid of the warranty and the rest is on you - I wish they would build a quality product.

Nice to see the little things that make the difference between the different models / $ - difference.

I'd like to see the finished product of that rear lounge with the Murphy bed. Leisure travel vans and Sonic Travel trailers do a great job with similar floor plans. What would be the price of a C like that?

Another terrific info packed factory tour Josh! I was very impressed with that 30 amp power management system. The ability to do whatever you want to do without having to go drag Dad off the fishing dock to come find which breaker tripped. What a valuable feature!

Fascinating tour - very fun to see how motor homes are built. I wasn’t aware that RV manufacturers modified the OEM frames. The nose cap - all should do it this way to avoid leaks! The Melbourne floor plan looks really good

Thanks for the very insightful look at the building blocks, and the assembly process for our Greyhawk 29mv. Most of those things become just out of sight speculation to the eventual RV owners like us.

Thanks for the tour! Got my first RV in 1992, a 45’ Spacecraft built to my specifications, full timed in it for 3 years in the Mojave. No 12vdc fridge on anything unless there is more than enough solar to run it for at least 2 days, thank you. Also prefer the old 3 way fridge that you can run on 12vdc while driving, switch to gas for boon docking, 110vac with hookups. No emphasis on the way the exterior walls are built. Some nice people think there are no studs in them. There are studs, aluminum ones, more difficult to locate on your own. Next tour? How about Gulf Stream BT Cruiser?

I am so excited for Melbourne new floor plan. I love the leisure but interior height is to short, am glad there more companies starting to use a similar floor plan.

I've got a 2020 Greyhawk 30XP Prestige and that large wall slide looks the same on the driver's side. Great video, learned a lot about how it was made.

12 volt compressor refrigerator is more efficient than a 2/3 way. With battery and generator technology today, no need for propane refrigerator.

Yes definitely on the 12 volt option and compressor refrigerators. Also get rid of that tan interior chassis and go with the gray

I would like to get into this world so glad to have found the channel yesterday! To get in into this market and to pull anything I also need the vehicle to do so. It makes me wonder if Class C might be a good break-in for me since I get it all in one package.

I have always loved Jaycos but now even more! From their attention to detail for these models to how they run their factory, including the recycling. I have so much more respect for the brand, if that's possible, and now it's confirmed that I will focus on Jayco's line. My only question is: Is this how their other factories are run for their other lines of class Cs? Attention to detail with the other models? Thanks so much for bringing us into the factory, Josh. Can't wait until I can get out there and make my purchase!

We have a 2018 gray hawk with a duel gas and electric refrigerator that was a pain in the butt to operate, because it was hard to get level because not all campgrounds site are level. So if we couldn’t get the camper level the refrigerator wouldn’t work properly. So we converted it over to a 12 volts system and are glad we did. I have one question for you now that we have a 12 volt refrigerator should we install some solar panels?

Oh that was a very awesome tour very enlightening I did like the new Melbourne floor plan/style that was pretty cool. I would like to see a Winnebago tour and a Fleetwood tour. Thanks for being your wonderful self and showing us all the different stuff that we had no clue existed.

Entrega Class C's are also built there we toured the factory and saw Entrega Odyssey 31F being built that day. The tour was good enjoyed seeing some of the production being completed.

This is fascinating how these manufacturers bring all these parts together to complete a product, nice work Josh, and thanks to Jayco for making this possible. I find these factory tours incredibly helpful, quality and methods of construction are most important to me when deciding on a product. Thank you.

The Melbourne prototype: WOW! The Leisure Van Wonder Rear Lounge is one of the most epic small rv's out there. So popular they have a 1 year backlog on orders the last I heard. I couldn't believe nobody else was smart enough to copy it. AH! Somebody is! I do prefer it being built on the Ford Transit chassis like Leisure does (MUCH more powerful twin turbo engine, All Wheel Drive! Gas mileage is close to what the diesel Mercedes chassis gets, yet fuel cost is much lower as is maintenance). -------- THANK YOU for showing how the Greyhawk front cap works! IMO, that design is a huge reason to go with this vs other brands due to the lack of seams on edges to leak. I always wondered how it was designed/installed. Also, the fiberglass roof is a much have because campgrounds typically have low hanging trees, and those branches do a number on those rubber roofs. Great job as always Josh. Thank you for all you do for the community.

YES to 12 volt fridge! Coupled with appropriately sized solar panels and battery bank, in what way is that inferior to a lower performance propane powered absorption fridge? I’d save the propane for the furnace and run the fridge from the sun (with backup power provided by generator charging batteries periodically, if/when necessary). I recently contacted Jayco suggesting they should consider offering this option on their class Cs, but received a more or less canned response of “We don’t offer that option”. Love to see that in a Redhawk 26M (one of my favorite floorplans). Thanks for the tour.

Jayco needs to start offering 12v fridges! We have had ours for awhile and it is great. Bigger inside, cools faster, no wholes in the skin and we can run it on the road off the battery with the propane shut off. Not sure why they are "waiting"

12 volt refrigerator. yes. and get rid of the 3 piece glass sliding shower door. they are heavy, noisy , and leak water every where. I replaced mine with a nautilus sliding shower door. reduced the weight by fifty pounds, and no leaks.

Josh the way they stretch the chassis I would like to see them not stretch it the way they do cause it creates a failure point in multiple areas when a big tow truck gets built if they can’t find the right chassis they will stretch the frame in a Z cut then they will box the section of the frame before and after and fish plate over all the welds for safety the way jayco does it is not safe cause you see where ford has all there pre drilled holes for different configurations in the frame jayco has now made that a failure point and also de rates the towing capacity from what they claim of 5000 pounds to 3500 pounds safely

Two drink spills on OSB floor cracks and you have a soft spot👎🏻 Plywood not so. Shower support is nice, as well as front cap. Fiberglass roof is great, but can’t get past any OSB in an RV.

YES I absolutely want a 12v fridge!!!! I plan to have the two way fridge removed and replaced with a 12 volt fridge on a brand new unit!!! Why? They get so much colder, they cool down so much faster, they are so much larger!, no fire concerns.

I’m surprised that they don’t offer a diesel option on the E450 chassis. I would think more power and fuel economy would be a want.

I definitely want a compressor fridge.

Seeing how they're made gives a great indication on the quality of the final product. Love being able to see the bones of the rig and how it all goes together. It's like a giant RV CT Scan. Please keep doing these tours as time allows! Would love you to do an Alliance factory tour in the future! From watching and enjoying the hours and hours of content you have given us, I do think I'm now a Certified RV Nerdling Second Class...

I would like to see how grand design 5th wheels are made, and a review of the reflection 31mb.

I would ONLY consider a 12-volt DC fridge because camp hosting it gets to be a pain to drive 27 miles for propane every week. I would install enough solar to charge my LIFEPO4 lithium batteries 90% by solar and 10% by a generator. Then I only have to switch out the portable propane bottle in my STAY A WHILE one per month or two, etc.

yes moving away from gas and being able to use solar to run as much of the rv as possible is ideal and self sufficient

I saw a used 2006 Grey hawk that was a turned in at the dealership to be cleaned up before being re-sold. It had all the tires replaced. It had less than 26K miles. I was the first customer to get a walk thru while it was parked in the service area of the dealership. The attention to detail was outstanding. I asked the salesperson questions and I know that if I need to find out a true answer to my questions, I need to find them in the specs. As far as the question you asked about the refrigerator, I believe 12VDC is the way to go. I also have to say that the 30Amp is better than having to try and find a 50Amp site. I want to thank Josh for making this video.

I had one of these. Jayco greyhawk. Horribly built. All these wires exposed under the rig with connections that weren’t weather proof. I spent a day zip tying a lot up from being able to get caught because they were just stuffed in places hanging. All water pipe exposed to elements so winter camping a no go. Chassis is way too under rated for our unit the 31f. You literally ride on the hockey pucks he’s talking about because the spring aren’t strong enough to support the unit. I ended up having to add another helper leaf. Then the generator design is bad, it absorbed all the heat from the engine and would not run going down the road. I could over come everything but that. Once Jayco didn’t care, and wouldn’t even call me back and ignored all calls about it I gave up and sold the unit. There’s better options else where and if your looking for a bigger rig don’t get the e450 ford chassis.

I’ve delivered tons of jayco motorhomes as an rv transport. There is no plastic on the seats ever. That must come off at some point between finish and bringing to the transport yards

I’m more or less 5 years away from retirement and I’m lining up to set my choice on a 29 MV [can’t sell the wife yet on a Murphy bed approach :-) ]. Darn, I wish I could do business with you (but being from Canada (Montreal)) I’m not so sure it could be doable. Bummer! Truly!! Always good to see things being well built by our neighbours south of the border !!! I like Jayco’s commitment on their environmental foot print (98% away from landfill and recycling water from water testing). Kudos go to Jayco. Tks y’all. Pierre

The problem with getting rid of propane, is NOT the fridge.. It really uses the value of a pilot light.. The Gas Hogs are the water heater and the furnace.. If you could remove those you might have something..
