These two USC QBs are pushing (compete) each other to be the best QBs they can be. Jaden will definitely be used as a USC secret weapon type of QB in case the game or MM gets out of control. MM needs to be consistent in every game or LR has no issues with pulling QB out of the game, LR not playing games anymore, LR wants to win NOW and the best consistent QB will be playing. If the QB is not consistent in every game, LR is pulling him out of the game. ✌️✌️✌️
I'm sure Coach Lincoln Riley is fully aware of the 8 TDs *and* the 8 INTs. Since turnovers have to be minimal in order to play winning football, its a primary consideration. The good thing for USC is... Coach LR is a for-real quarterback whisperer. He'll get the best QB play out of all the QBs he has, and he will start the QB that is best for the team to win.
Jayden had a lot of playing Experience, 4.65 40s vs Moss' 4.85. Maybe his mobility fits best with LR's scheme as his past QBs are scramblers. But Moss' Holiday Bowl 6 TDs vs a full strength #16 ranked Louisville defense was Fantastic. ✌✌
Having an open QB competition sends a message to any QB already at USC or considering coming there. There's going to an open competition until you separate yourself from the pack.
I see Miller starting every game this year, with Maiva coming in for some RPO short yardage or red zone sets, especially in games with good leads. MM really knows the system, and players say he's like having another coach on the field, plus can make things happen. JM starts in 2025 after Moss moves to the NFL. Miller will have probably finished his Masters Degree program by then too, as he got his undergrad degree before last season started. The kid is smart.
I think both QBs get a substantial amount of play time this year. The goal is to play in the CFP and play for the national title, so that means a longer season and it is important to have depth and preserve your QB as well. Miller starts LSU game and Jayden gets in for 4th quarter, after USC is ahead by 21. Jayden gets half the playing time in the second game. Then who knows against Michigan and after that. Maiva might be the starter next year or even by the end of the year, so Miller might have one year and then needs to move on. Its good to have two QBs that can play. Actually Jensen is good too, so three QBs. 3-0 after three games and the word on USC will be much different
Jayden has always had a higher upside - I hope we just let the best man play when it matters. Miller deserves to prove himself though. He's the leader in that locker room. Leadership by itself can win you a few extra games.

Just talking about perceived potential from my POV (which is always subjective.) I love both our QBs - it's a great problem to have btw. Who would I start right now? Miller. Who would I start next year? I don't know yet...

Just look at the holiday bowl… if they were willing to roll Jensen out there for a tough 4th down, they will definitely have some plays for Maiava, if only to throw off the defense. I think if they do use Maiava in certain packages that he better be ready. It’s hard to come in cold and hit big plays. We have a tough schedule but I’d love to see Maiava get reps in garbage time too. Maybe we see a full half of Maiava with Utah St. if Miller’s already got 4-5 TDs and we are up big. No use risking him getting hurt. I don’t want it to be like last year and Caleb’s thumb being messed up all season.
Yeah i really want to see Miller Time Moss get the start. Some QBs practice all right but on game day they take over. Than there are some players who practice really well and than on game day they throw 4 tds but also 3ints,. I say its Miller Time and if he has a poor showing during the LSU game then you try out Maiava. Tom Brady isnt a duel threat but you dont have to be a duel threat if you know how to move in the Pocket, know how to read your reads and take what the defense gives you. Eventually those big plays will open up. Fight On lets beat those kitty kats✌🏽⚔️
That's a good point. If Coach Riley pulls the rug out from underneath Miller Moss now, then he becomes another in a long line of highly rated QBs who never panned out at USC. They almost have to stick with him. The Trojans are in pretty good shape at QB. JM has 3 yrs & MM has 2. If I'm Juju, i'm thinking it'll be a few years before I'll have that QB1 job secured. Even then, they're going to bring in another 5SQB every year to beat me out. That's a risky proposition.
@@cartersports1 Yeah, he should say that publicly, but these kids are still human. They don't owe any school anything, and they're not going to go compete for a job if they don't have to. Before Peyton Manning signed with Denver (in 2012), he said they had to get rid of Tim Tebow. He didn't want to have a backup with a cult following. He was smart. He saved himself some unnecessary distractions.
Moss is green. He had one game. In a series of three games he could tank and lose his confidence. Nobody knows. Having a vet ready to go steadies the ship
Miller Moss can definitely lose job quickly, especially if he struggles early and is a sitting duck taking sacks. He needs to be efficient. I think he can do it, but he will be on a short leash
I agree with this breakdown. It’s moss’s job to lose, unless Jayden is the second coming of Caleb. With that being said, that kid is so damn physically gifted, it’s hard to see how he isn’t the best qb in that room by the time mid season comes.

this reminds of i think 2013 or 2014 when sam darnold was clearly QB1 but dumb F, Helton started Browne. Maiava...he has tremendous upside and moss is so overrated based on one game 🎯
