Jalen was completely out of line for making that Emmett Till joke and his reaction shows how much he lacks awareness on race issues. It’s common knowledge that Emmett Till jokes are off limits and even most comedians don’t ever make jokes about the lynching of black people. But as someone who lives in Canada, I’m not surprised Jalen thought that joke was cool as anti-blackness is very common in the Indian community of Canada.
To add fuel to the fire Jalen has also said that Megan Thee Stallion looks like a man which a lot of people that aren’t black will use to describe black women
Firstly the Emmet till joke was clearly to far for some people and I apologize if it offended you. But we cannot be selective on which jokes to get offended by and which not to. I've had many racist jokes thrown my way and never got offended not once, because it's all in fun a laughter. Now obviously some jokes are darker and have historical context to them which people may take differently. A deportation joke can have those similar layers as someone who's family immigrated to canada leaving a deadly civil war, a deportation joke can mean being killed, rapped etc once you return to that country. I however did not choose to take it that way and never would because i understand who it came from and the context, it was all in fun. So this idea that one joke was severely darker then the other is simply due to a lack of education within members of the chat. Now ones personal experience will obviously effect how certain jokes are taken and not everyone can handle jokes touching on sensitive topics, But the selective outrage and gross accusations based on a joke is simply misguided and shows a lack of education on these topics. ......imma just leave this here

As someone who grew up in America and moved to Canada, American history and ESPECIALLY Black American history is really missing here. Context, figures, all of it. They were jokingly talking about calling ICE on Embiid because of how he's been playing which lead to Ron asking the Panel who they'd want to replace Embiid. Jalen's turn comes and Chill asks why Jalen is picking for us on the basis of him being Canadian and says they should call ICE on Jalen. Jalen then replies that he'll call the same people that did what they did to Emmett Till on Chill.

The joke I made today was incredibly insensitive and I am truly sorry. My intent was never to be malicious or ignorant of the historical context of the Emmett Till situation. My intention was to make a racial joke to combat another one that was meant to be funny, but I clearly went to far. Once again i am truly sorry, and I will strive to do better in the future.
To elaborate. I mean when white people tell black people “go back to Africa” its racism because we wasnt born in Africa we was born in America and people only say “go back” because of the color of our skin.
