You know that PC players can just go out and buy the best SSD on market and install it into their rig right? Even if their rig is not compatible or doesn't have a place to install an SSD, they can just respec their PC and modify it to be compatible.

Yea no my PC is specifically for music and id rather have a console because I prefer gaming from my couch or bed plus I have such a huge digital Xbox collection whats the point and I don't play online so I don't have any sub services and the only game I do play online you don't need a sub service

And you cant push a screen over its physical limits. He didnt even know how to use upscaling but used his jester knowledge to get cloud for ps5. Unless the reasons is that the game is ported badly like many before, i don't believe that mid to high PC hardwares is unable to handle any console game.
Even on cost to performance, PC still wins. PC: Buy game once, at often dirt cheap prices. Years later on new hardware, those games look better, they play better, and you have way more options for replayabilty. Handhelds such as the Steam Deck or ROG Ally can be used to play the same PC library in a portable form factor. PC's allow more options for controller support, meaning you have more options to save on controllers compared to consoles which each use their own controller and these controllers often have cheap analog sticks that increase the cost in the long run. Emulation keeps old games playable at better resolutions, more consistent framerates, and options such as texture packs and randomizers to increase the visuals and replayability respectively. Online is free, cloud saves are free. I could go on and on. When you upgrade hardware, you can sell old hardware without worry since very few games will not run on new hardware at all, most will run fine and some may require some tinkering, but in general there are games on pc that you can buy and play now that were released decades ago, and they play right away. Console: The 400 dollar price point for the PS5 is disingenuous because it lacks a disc drive. Console games are in general cheaper when bought used. To compete with PC on price for games you have to sell games and buy used, but unless you sell on ebay or the like you often won't get much for anything that is older than a couple years old. Games are also more like time capsules on consoles. Many consoles lack proper backwards compatibility, and the ones that do have it rarely do more than play it how it would have on the old console. On console 87% of retro games are unavailable commercially. Physical has the issue of limited availability and inflated prices. If you want some game that came out 2-3 decades ago you could be paying hundreds of dollars on them and not even know if the game is in good condition. That game will then require specific hardware to play, be it the console it was made for or one that can play that console's games (such as the a wii for gamecube games). Older consoles may require converters to connect them to a tv that only has hdmi inputs. Some of these converters are cheap but produce a picture that looks like ass, others cost hundreds of dollars for a picture that is halfway decent. Digital games on console have even more problems. If you bought anything on the Wii, it's gone. The same is true for the PSP, and pretty much every console will at some point have their store servers shut down. Even if a purchase is tied to an account, if you can't download and play it on the newer hardware then it is useless. When people have the debate over physical vs digital, it's almost always because console manufacturers and publishers cannot be trusted to preserve old games. But they miss the point because consoles themselves aren't designed for game preservation. The time capsule design of consoles and their games ensures that most games stay stuck on those platforms. For instance, see how many people are hoping that a MGS collection volume 2 comes out with MGS4 on it, because outside of emulation on a PC, the only way to play that game involves actual PS3 hardware. In the console space, this could just kick the can down the road, where 10 years from now the only way to play the game would be on what would be last gen hardware. If it got a PC release, then you could play it on PCs built that year using hardware that was newer. In 20 years, you would still be able to play it. Even if a game on PC is digital, it lacks the downsides of digital gaming on console because of the existence of piracy and emulation. Even modern games are treated poorly. The first TLOU game did not need a "remake". The original was made for the PS3, then users had to buy it again on the PS4 since that wasn't backwards compatible and the game would have ran at 720p30fps if it was. The PS5 can play PS4 games so you could theoretically play the game on the PS5, but then Sony wouldn't have been able to charge another 70 dollars for the game. Now there is the rumor they are remastering TLOU2 and Horizon Zero Dawn, games that came out 3 and 6 years ago respectively that don't need remasters or remakes because they are cheap to produce and Sony can charrge 70 dollars again for them. Whatever benefit resolution or framerate is negated by the fact that on PC, there is not supposed to be a hard cap, games that run at 60 on console at best can be ran uncapped on pc, or you can set the resolution as you see fit. Then there are the subscription fees. On PC, there is no cost to play online or have cloud saves, but on console each one has their own cost. At 60 a year, for 5 years that is 300 dollars. Many console gamers have more than one console, so you can add even more. If you have both PS plus and XBox gamepass ultimate, that's 300 a year. NSO can add another 50 if you want n64 games and such. Modern controllers are filled with features, but they often seem to break much more often and don't last as long. The switch is often synonymous with Joycon Drift but pretty much every modern controller suffers drift and since they aren't designed to be easily repaired, this means users more often than not will just buy a new one for another 70 dollars. There are at least some options, but each console has different controller APIs meaning you can't easily just buy one good controller and have it work on all consoles. My 8-bitdo controller with hall effect sticks can't be used on a playstation or xbox, only on pc, mac, android, and switch. Basically, consoles mainly exist to wring out as much money as possible out of the consumer. Which is how Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo make money. Because while the hardware itself might be cheaper, there are all sorts of predatory things about consoles that may even seem innocuous on the surface, but it builds up. Even considering for a second that if you have a Series X and a PS5, you paid 1000 already for those. Since PC tends to get most games from both, it makes sense to build a better pc to play those games with a better performace than to buy both and get locked into mostly 30fps gaming. Whatever you save up front on the hardware comes back ten fold over time. It always costs more on console. Despite them being designed for mainly gaming, they only seem cheaper before you actually add in the games.
I find it hilarious I can play R&C on a GTX 970 between 45 and 65fps. It's on 1366x668 with FSR on low settings, but it's possible. It's even more impressive if you know the card is almost 10 years old.
Turns out, it works nearly the same on steam deck with an SSD, so duck it ponies, I can play it without buying into a completely different system and wasting a ton of money on hardware for like three games.
They always want to bring up the price points when it comes to PC. Fact is during it's lifetime, I had more PS2s die on my than any other console, when I went through five of them. Second most would be Xbox 360, when I went through three of them. And it's not like I don't take care of my hardware. My current PC is ten years old and still has no issues other than the hardware obviously getting old and current games expecting more these days. I've spent much less on it than I did during that period when I was on console, having to get multiple consoles for exclusives, etc. But I guess part of that is because I'm not a one-platform fanboy desperate to pretend my chosen platform is just "superior" because it's the one I picked.
I think Jaytech doesn’t realize that you don’t even need an $800 PC to play ratchet and clank, and most AAA games at 1080p, over 60 FPS. You could do it with $400 or 500, and get a PC that can run most every game at 60 FPS or higher, at 1080 P. Sure, it won’t necessarily be equivalent in terms of power to the console, but it most certainly will be a better purchase, judging that all the benefits of PC gaming are right at your hands, and you save money on the PC compared to the console. Personally, I would recommend spending a little bit more on the PC upfront, because I already mentioned you save money on the PC.
People always say consoles are best "price to performance" but it's not even that anymore. 60+ a year to play online, games being 70 dollars new and sometimes still 50+ used, controllers that are 60-75+ dollars. Also hearing people say "the games are made for consoles" is hilarious, the games are literally made on PC's and tested on PC's, so the fact that PC get's bad ports is just corporate greed and ineptitude.

I have seen and used PCs built for like 1500 bucks that run CIRCLES around consoles. Also to add onto your point about PCs, PCs are completely unlocked, which also allows you to SO MUCH MORE than you ever will be able to on console. It's literally like buying a dev license on xbox to be able to run other types of games that aren't natively supported by the software, so that almost 1K you got for that build, it actually cheaper in the long run because you don't have to upgrade hardware every year to stay on top of things.

I guess around $600 USD in America? Going for a build that will give you a much better experience than a PS5, in 2023, is actually better than trying to go for one that can give you a similar experience, just because of how things are in the PC gaming market right now. In my country (Argentina), this build is barely more expensive than a PS5, and it performs a lot better, when you take into consideration it gives you access to Frame Generation. Also, you'll make that money back pretty quickly, probably just by not having to pay for online access and then buying a game for much cheaper, specially if you have access to regional pricing, just because then you have the deals you only get on PC, with really good discounts, on top of the regional pricing. I saved so much money by ignoring consoles that I got a 4080. Hell, yesterday I pre-ordered S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 for $10 USD, and that game didn't even have a discount. You don't believe me? Go check the price for that game in Argentina using SteamDB. If it changes, then you can still see what the previous price was. Getting a game like DOOM 2016 for $0.32 USD is just an option I don't have on consoles. It's a no brainer. Like, even if you're not from my country, not so long ago, Ratchet & Clank was for around $34 USD on Instant Gaming, and that was like a day or two after it came out (right now it's more expensive, and it's $40.34, which was the price for the pre-order in that same page). People who claim they only play on consoles because it's cheaper, if they play different videogames regularly, then they NEED to do a little more research, because they're spending way to much money. Like, unless you're only playing the titles you can find on Game Pass, with an Xbox (I know the store has regional pricing to), you're basically getting scammed. The price argument falls apart EVEN MORE when you take into consideration that everyone needs a computer.
I have been loving it. At this point, I just need to fight the final boss and hop into challenge mode for the final weapon to get the Platinum equivalent. One thing to note is that on Steam Deck, if the game suddenly starts chugging/goes down to single digit frames/is completely unplayable, just restart the Deck and it will fix your problem. Playing with Proton Experimental might also help.
I live on a fixed income... That being said, you will pry my pc from my cold dead hands before I go to console. My pc is my entertainment system and how I am able to keep contact with the outside world since I am mostly housebound. I will never be able to afford a High end pc but I always have had a pc that can do decently on games and keep up with the other things I need to do like voice to text, educational, health and other things. You cant do that in a walled garden that the consoles provide. All the games I play go to console but start on pc first and the prices for those games on console are atrocious.

Which with how the SSD Market is, Its not hard to get an SSD Faster than a PS5 for a decent price now. No, it's the decompression hardware on it, that's not been a thing on PC until now with RTX IO and Direct Storage, it's not just an SSD, it has hardware decompression which takes away the need for the CPU to do it
Home slice. Before making things up make sure Google wasn't invented. Direct storage came out at the end of 2022. We're mid 2023 which is available for NVME PCIe 3.0 or higher. Available on windows 10 and 11. This info legit took me 15 seconds to find. Which means, Most SSDs are supported for the tech to run at the same level or better than the PS5 SSD.

Starfield is likely to be a very wellcrafted product. It's a product that Microsoft has loomed over like a hawk. They spent so much money on Starfield alone. Fallout 76 for all of its shortcomings wasn't plagued with the usual hard crashes and years of destruction that other Bethesda Games have received. Now, this isn't to say that there isn't a chance of this, but ya know. Bethesda took the criticism from Skyrim, Falout 4, and Fallout 76 to heart and it is obvious from the new trailers that they have truly understood the criticisms however Starfield most likely need to avoid constant asset loading while writing down the state of the universe on an HDD. It is too much for games to read that much information nowadays on an HDD but a whole other thing to then have to write instructions afterwards.
the PC version of R&C loads slower than the PS5 version due to code restriction it means that no matter if your SSD is 10 times faster than the one of the PS5 it will run "slower" due to said restriction TBF knowing how Sony is probably the restriction was made on purpose
Considering that whole situation with Last of us SONY needed a win for this port. I say they got that win. I also agree this year has been a struggle for optimizing i will admit. Fortunately this mess with optimized games this year got me to start playing some older stuff

yes HDDs will not low as fast as a ssd or the ps5 ssd but people testing ratchet and clank on pc showed that sony and these fanboys overhyped the ps5 ssd there was a less than 10 sec difference. Cannot wait until they expose the ps5 ssd again when spiderman 2 comes to pc. Man I've always been a console player and I got a gaming laptop not too long ago cuz I don't have room for a whole computer setup and it cost over $1800 and it was worth it. I think it's pretty good. It's got an i7-12700h Intel core, a GeForce rtx 3060, 32 gb of ram, it's got 1 TB, it's got an SSD, and it's 2560x1440.

Dude... your parts list is a RIP OFF! I know you were showing him up, but I BUILT better for less. That CPU is not worth it. It's only so expensive because it's old and hard to come by. A Ryzen 7 5700X will rip it apart, and if you want to have a cooler come with it, you will probably get better with a 5600 (6 cores, but a generation or two more)... and in either case the cooler is for a 65 watt processor.. it doesnt have to be overkill (like I chose to do). Also, price to performance isn't really much better on console, just much more front-loaded. Online fees over time bring things pretty even over a few years. What you buy with a console is convenience. You can't setup anything special because you don't have to setup anything.
For me, this is the worst Sony port till date. In every other Sony game released on PC, I didn't have a single issue from start to finish but this game is just a struggle from improper frame pacing to broken vsync to more than 12 GB vram usage even on 1440p to random stutters. Half an hour is the limit I can play this game smoothly after that my GPU usage goes from 50% to 100% and frame drops from locked 60 to 20 fps.

ListenJayTwoBraincells, The reason console games don't need optimizations is because the bar is so low (30fps/low res) you don't have to put in much work to reach that.
if you want to play this game at 4k ultra setting with raytracing, then yes you will need a PC that is worth thousands of dollars. im not sure what settings the PS5 uses. but thats just a fact
4:08 that's also cap, outside of the intial hardware for playing the newest games, consoles are a terrible value. (they won't even let you use the controllers you own) a steamdeck could probably beat a series X in many older games and is a much better overall value.
Why isn't anyone talking about the hardware depression on the PS5 SSD, your normal PC SSD hasn't got it, RTX IO get's the GPU to do that rather than the CPU, people seemed to have missed this or just selectively missed it and it is a fact.
It is quite clear that whatever technology is being used was vastly overhyped. Microsoft Directstorage is similar technology and offers the same experience without a specialized SSD. Sony paid billions for 2 seconds less. It isn't worth going over.
I've just build a PC with 5700x (this one is way faster than Series X and PS5s CPU) and RX 5700 XT 12 GB. 32GB DDR4 16 18 18 18 from Kingston, 1TB SN850x for around 950 USD (this is converted price, but I've done something similar recently on pcpartpicker too).
How can you deny that pcs are better.....sure you need to spend more money but higher resolution and fps ARE possible.....I'm a series x owner and I know we get a lot of shit.....particularly from PlayStation fanboys....not all owners just the fanboys....but its affordable to me and I've managed with 30fps for years so it doesn't bother me.....pc can have 4k 60fps so obviously its better and I don't mind exclusives coming to pc at all
I play on my PC and my consoles, each has its advantages and draws but honestly "PC master race" is less true today than it was five years ago (even though we get more ports ) because of awful optimisation. While PC can and should give best performance, in the last two years especially that has not been the case so I can't honestly take a blanket statement like "PC has better performance". Hopefully as we get a little deeper into this gen that will be true but soooo many awful ports since 2020. Also worth pointing out that ratchet and clank does look a little bit better on PS5.

So much misinformation over how this game actually works 🤦 On PC it uses direct storage and RTX IO to send compressed data from the SSD/HDD to RAM>Vram>GPU The Ps5 SSD is using a hardware decompression block to send it directly to the GPU RTX IO didn't exist until last month The problem with the slower time is because compressed data is still going into RAM then into Vram and finally the GPU Nvidea have stated themselves RTX IO still needs work to reduce that latency You seriously don't understand any of this do you 😂 When this game was announced nothing on pc existed to handle asset streaming at the same level as the ps5 One last thing direct storage was literally updated and released last month to enable the use of sata drives It's running on a HDD because the HDD is literally getting help from direct storage 1.2 Also the ps5 SSD controller was made by Marvell technologies And what are they responsible for on pc? Only most of the highest end PCIe tech
