This was just a perfect little bit of improvisation, from the guitar tone to the lines.

I did not realize that this solo was a bit of a example for using melodic cells. I think this is a characteristic of solos that I really like. These cells you have seem to utilize enclosures often. I am starting to see what you mean by Jazz patterns and have wanted to try this approach. The next sale you have, I am jumping on that ebook.

He uses it in a broader way; these are things that are repeated in many licks or solos, but it's not what usually comes up when you're looking for melodic cells

Very nice Dirk👏! Do you prefer the tone of your 175 to a semi hollow body guitar such as the 330 or Heritage hollow body 575? I have a Gibson es 137 which is midway between the 335 and 175 but semi- hollow.

Thanks Rick, I prefer the ES-175. I have a Heritage H-575 as well, but I never grew fond of it. It's been a long time since I played an ES-335, I should try that again. Cheers!

So, which book do I order of the JGO Website to be able to get these patterns and more? I saw the "Patterns and Phrases, volume 1" book. Is this where this lesson came from? I finally have a couple of bucks to spare and purchase it. Thanks.

Hey, you can find the patterns of this video here: www.jazzguitar.be/blog/jazz-blues-guitar-patterns/ Jazz Guitar Patterns & Phrases Vol 1 has a lot of similar patterns: www.jazzguitar.be/courses/product/jazz-guitar-patterns-volume-1/

@@JazzGuitarOnline That is all that I needed to know. Thank you. Going to order that e-book right now and give this thinking in terms of small patterns a try. Cheers!

@@JazzGuitarOnline This course is unlike any I have seen. I remember reading commentary on how Grant Green "morphs" pet licks into full and beautiful solos. This course reminds me of that. What is really special is that I love the various patterns and phrases that you folks came up with and how the instruction is helping me see how they are laid out on the fretboard. Maybe THIS time, I will be able to remember the various licks, as well as some of my own, using the practicing techniques outlined, and Lord knows there is a lot of information in this course that is immediately useable.
