Prophesies that I made way back in the Ville Fulfilled, listen even back when we was broke my team illMartin Luther King would have been on Dreamville Talk to a nigga
The biggest disappointment was that there were no more diva momments within the sisters since the new aunt viv came. Only vy and helen had their usual chemistry.
@@Wijikata lol i know, i noticed it in the video when I saw the comment, but what i meant was i didn't hear it in the show while i was watching (before, a long while ago) so yeah lmaoo but thx for tryna help out
I always feel bad for an actor who has to step into beloved shoes. This lady did well with what she was given. Problem is, she wasn't given squat. Her character got flattened out, made into a nice little wifey instead of the powerful woman she was before. It's a hard situation to be in, navigating waters that someone else has charted, with the crew that originally sailed them.
John M Smythe wtf you’re talking about? The original aunt Viv wasn’t a stay home mom. She was a college professor with a PhD that specialized in black history. In many chapters, specially the first two seasons, he taught the children their historical pride. It’s not even nostalgia speaking, me and my wife just did a binge watch last week.
Isiac Artison maybe she was the best actress they could get...its all about performance...nobody gives a fuck if the actress looks like her or not...she was great in the show, it wasn’t her fault that the character took a dive after she took the role, it’s the Writers fault...
*kudos to the new aunt Viv for taking such a tough role when the show was half way through* Yes, old Viv was better, however, lets appreciate new Viv for her bravery for taking on a difficult task.
Yes. She Is Overly-Hated And Overly-Criticized. And The Writers Wrote Her The Way She Was. What If They Wrote Aunt Viv Differently Because She Left The Show And They Were Angry. Family Matters After Firing Judy Refused To Recast Her Because They Were So Angry At Her Mom For Demanding More Screentime And Money For Her.
And to think, the original Aunt Viv wanted Carlton fired, Will Smith replaced, and for the show to be more centered around her. Yea, couldn't imagine why they would replace her?🤔
@Heidenriech still doesn't matter, some people accuse Michael Jackson of being a pedophile but that still doesn't take away the fact that he was the king. Why keep pushing this narrative? You seem to be the jealous one here. 😂 😂 Just let it go. 😂 😂 😂
QUEEN OF ZION! If he wasn’t touching little boys why did he keep putting himself in a position to be accused of it? After the first time you woulda thought he would avoid those situations.
@@jorge3224 well he had no choice, actress was self centered bitch. She wanted to fire Carlton, replace Will and make this show being about her. Geez wonder why she was fired
@@yendaaaa are you kidding me she was sassy, she bossed the others around and remember when carlton was hanging out with Will and his Friends and she all like "carlton get your ass in the car and none of you all are going to MacArthur park and remember the big guy was like "wait a minute" she pointed her finger in his face saying "boy do not test me"
@@christinasavannah7992 you don't know the difference between "Sass" and "Ghetto", do you? What you described is a sassy, stern persona, not a ghetto one.
Christina Savannah Its kinda sad that you said that with so much confidence...ghetto and sassy are not the same. Also she didnt boss them around, she was literally a regular mother lol like...what kind of mother did you have? (ABSOLUTELY NO SHADE). I even found Daphne more stern than the old aunt viv.
Janet Hubert (1st aunt viv) was such a great actor and portrayed Viv perfectly. I feel like the chemistry between her and James Avery was incredible. I would have loved to see how the show would turn out if she continued through the last three seasons.
My favorite 1st aunt viv moment was when she took that dance class and showed those uppity girls how to work it!! Never saw the 2nd aunt viv do anything remotely close to that.
Haha, when Will looked at the camera after Jazz mentioning how different Mrs Banks looks now. Lol. P.S: Janet Hurbert was obviously a better Aunt Vivian than this one.
Now its stupid. The media pressures shows to add minorities and if they dont they get called racist. Im all for minorities being shown (as I am asian) but its dumb how shows/movies feel like they have to include minorities or they will get backlash. An actor shouldnt only be appointed to a role if they suit it not bc they need minorities to keep the media happy
Amber Mck “Breaking the fourth wall” is a term in TV and cinema that refers to breaking character or breaking from the script, or even acknowledging something the viewer sees that the characters aren’t meant to acknowledge, I.e. the change of cast to fill a role previously filled by a different actor. Jazz referenced that Viv was different because the actor had changed, and Will looked at the camera directly at the viewer with a look as if to say “he wasn’t meant to acknowledge that” hence breaking the fourth wall.
New Aunt viv says "there are a lot of sick, demented perverts out there," and at that moment Jazz walks right in, breaking the 4rth wall when he sees New Aunt Viv with a pillow he stole from some other baby. 😆😆. This show was gold!
Darcy Brummett You're confused. Jazz didn't try to break the 4th wall. What Jazz did was make a meta reference to the recasting of a character. What Will (didn't try to but actually) did was break the 4th wall to acknowledge Jazz's observation/meta reference and sort of nod and wink to the audience conveying the show is aware of the huge change.
Jazz: *confused face* “You know Mrs. Banks, since you had that baby…there’s something different about you.” Will: *Awkwardly stares at audience* Gotta give them credit for being self-aware that they changed Vivian’s actress. XD
Jay Anderson No because she was funnier and a better actress. In fact they needed a daughter who looked like her mother, just like Junior looked like his father. Now Katie looked like her mom and dad. But the first Claire looked like nobody and her real-life mother pulled her out of the show anyway. Black people always making a damn complexion excuse. Insecure asses.
+LifeIsNotorious Exactly! They need to stop being so focused on skin color. They are the main ones that do that now. Other ethnicities don't do that to each other as much. Like for example Mexicans we have dark skinned Mexicans and light skinned Mexicans, we don't care about colors, we barely even mention the color of our skin.
You can't blame the actor for the role and moreover if he/she has to replace a beloved character. Usually if a sitcom is successful the audience loves the original character. But if for some reason the second aunt Viv was the first one, the people would be like, "oh this new aunt Viv is so aggressive and trying to cover the presence of the other characters".
Yep, I remember the preview for the near divorce of Phil and the new Vivian, they said "America's couple" or something like that.. I was thinking "They don't even seem to like each other" LOL
The best part is that they didn’t try to pretend nothing happened and they just acknowledged it with jazz noticing and will looking at the camera, then they moved on.
+Will M-Venom Perfect way to put Daphne. She was just THERE to fill the void of being a mother. Dry and not entertaining. Unlike Janet who was ALL OF THAT!!
I loved this show🤗 I wished they could've worked out their issues. I preferred the original Aunt Viv’s character. She was a college professor and had a close relationship with her sisters. The new Aunt Viv was a housewife and rarely had anything going on. Second Aunt Viv seemed more like a friend than a Mom. Still was a fan of the show😁
Maybe they should've had an episode of an accident happening in the hospital and she died. So this new actress can in fact be a friend to help raise the baby.
I like both of them. They did the best they could without slowing up production. Janet did a very good job for being thrown in and having to take on a character she didn’t develop. She brought her own uniqueness to the show and that’s all we can ask for.
They changed her personality, the way she dressed, her attitude, and apparently her occupation bec the second Aunt Viv no longer worked as a college professor. What a waste of a character.
this was a great moment in tv.. we never saw brute honesty lol ill never forget seeing it as a kid. I still LOL at it.. i loved how savage the show was at times...
@Adam Craig how is it racist for saying that aunt viv could hve at least been the same skin tone? (Also u rlly gonna compare an animated mermaid to this? Ayttt)
When I watched this as a kid, I never realized that aunt viv had an actress change so this joke flew right over my head. Watching this show as an adult and Im cackling on how clever the joke was
She was super bitter that a she had been trying to become a big star in Hollywood for years and never found success whilst Will Smith came out of nowhere and suddenly had a big show all about him and tried to get them to make it The Aunt Viv Show instead
Mr Critical she also had an issue with all of the cast, they described her as talented but she always had an attitude off stage and she was very rude and hard to work with.
@@andromedax7576 That truly shows because she is a grown woman that will come out and attack anyone even remotely criticising her - like, this one dude made a YT video just stating facts and why she left and she got all salty that he stole her content and she will sue for copyright - he only showed her pictures that are available on google btw.
@Jeremy Dixon I don't think one was necessecarily better than the other. The two Viv's were just written differently. The new Viv did the best with what she was given. It made sense for them to write her different though. If she were just doing an "original Viv impersonation" it would just end up beiing weird and I guess she would get criticism for that too.
You can definitely tell that while she wasn’t the same in characterization, the cast had more spring in their step when the 2nd actress came along. Especially after hearing some of the stories about the first actress.
