The dying song and album name ".. The End For Now" is apparently an analogy to living "in the end times" rather than being the last studio album from what we've heard so far. That wouldn't be too much of reach considering lyrics in the first verse; "The middle of a nuclear winter Is a modern achievement of the retro apocalyptic horde"

There was another vocalist before Corey Taylor. It was Anders Colsefni from 1991 to 1997. He left the band before the band put out their debut album. So Colsefni was there for the creation of the band and demo era but not the debut. So yes and no to Corey being the original singer

@@am45_001 It's actually because 8 is his lucky number, he explained why he chose 8 in an interwiew. The 99' one if I remember correctly. Everyone chose a number from 1 to 8, when Sid joined he choose 0 instead of 9 because that was the number he wanted.

Also, Slipknot dropped their self titled album in 1995 with Corey as the lead vocalist. The album "Mate Feed Kill Repeat" features the vocalist that came before Corey, if I'm not mistaken that is the only album that has a different vocalist. Side Note: M.F.K.R. was before they signed with Roadrunner.

Always love your Slipknot reactions. I discovered them when they were playing Harry Mary’s bar for all ages shows. Numetal never sat well with me because to me Slipknot was Metal Jazz. 9 people going crazy but still in a contained harmony is essentially jazz.

So this next album, which this track is off of, is the last album that Slipknot will be releasing with Roadrunner Records. It wouldn't surprise me if this fact is reflected in the album in some way. Not sure of the details, because I never bothered to look into it too much, but Slipknot has issues with how Roadrunner was doing things.
