I have 800 watts of Sunfire solid State power for mids a side and 400 Watts of tube power a side for the tweeters courtesy of Mesa Boogie. That's not including the 400 watts of Sunfire solid state power for my Center channel mids and 300 watts of tube power for the center channel tweeters brought to you by the Mesa Baron. That's a grand total of 3100 watts at 8 Ohms for my front end.

I would completely disagree with the reviewer stating he would probably go with the smaller Arena 120 over the 130. The 120 has a frequency response of 100Hz to 40kHz, while the 130 has a frequency response of 55Hz to 40kHz. So with the 130's and a sub, you could comfortably use a XO of 80Hz, while the 120's with a sub you'll have to most likely use a XO of 120Hz. That's a really high XO and introduces problems like bass localization. The 120 is designed as a surround speaker internally and externally.

The measured response doesn't show a dropoff until 70Hz so they should be fine.

Thanks Z Reviews ! you absolutly convinced me with the Video you made with 2 microphones on the Arena 120 .. i have 32bit 384khz NuAudio soundcard and Onkyo A800, Headphones, i would want to say that the quality in the video with good headphones. is as near to real life as it can get, way beyond any Review i have ever seen and ofc heard, Absolutly amazing work, with sound, music selection, Everything Thanks again,

These Loudspeakers are phenomenal in its price range. I own 2 pairs of the JBL Arena 130 and they don't disappoint they are a great option for 2 channel stereo or home theater options I use mine for rear channel effect speakers .Ialso own 2 pairs of the JBL Arena #170 which is the "Bigger Brother" of the Arena 130 in this video it's the floorstanding model with the same drivers with more bass response.

I own these and they are a real gem of a speaker. I am not a JBL fan either. They are genuinely good by any standards. JBL had these on a fire sale last year for $99... watch their website because they also sell B stock and refurbs from time to time really cheap.

i've got the white 120's on my desk with a 15ish year old 12 inch velodyne powered sub on the floor beside it and it will not only rock the entire house but i hear things i haven't herd on other speakers . i'm just a audiophile wanna be , but i'm very happy with this setup .

Would you reccomend these over the dali zensor 1/3? Also, do you reccomend the Arena 170 or 180 similarly as you like this one? And does this hold in general for towers/bookshelfs of the same series?

Sensitivity is wholly dependent on how well the speaker is designed. If there are wild impedance dips, it isn’t going to be nearly as efficient as it’s spec reflects.

my front speakers are custom towers with 2 18's, a 12, an 8, and a compression driver per tower. 4500 watts rms a pop, seperate power for subs, woofers, mids, and highs. i have to put them on seperate breakers, and can still trip both at about 3/4 volume.

Which one has the best sound, JBL Arena 130 or JBL Studio 230 or ELAC debut 2.0 B6.2 ? Medium/large room. I have JBL lsr 305 and like them a lot, but now need something for my Yamaha rn303 receiver. On paper Elac wins the competition, but how is in reality?

Get the JBL STAGE A130 they’re better than the 3 speakers you’ve listed. I’ve owned the Studio 230’s and still have the B6.2’s(which I love) and the STAGE A130 is superior IMO the only thing thats better is the amount of bass the Studio 230’s produce

Ralferator the STAGE A130. I haven’t heart the ARENA 130. I can tell you that I still love the STAGE A130’s. In fact I was so impressed with them I built a whole system out of the STAGE series

@@Bloodmoon1985 Thank you! Nice to hear, because here in Brazil the Stage A130 is one of the very few speakers you can get for a reasonable price. How big is the room you are using them in and how far from the back wall and the side walls are you placing them? Do you use them in the shelf or on speaker stands? Do they produce enough bass without a subwoofer?

Ralferator my room is H10x12x12 they sit on top of my A190 floorstanding speakers. They sit approximately 15inches from the wall. Their Bass is very good but not very deep so you would probably want a subwoofer for real deep bass

What's the difference with the JBL Studio 230?

The JBL studio 230 is the model up from the Arena 130 in this video. It has a higher end woofer and tweeter setup than the Arena 130 in this video. I have heard them in person and they are worth the extra money$$ they are high end on a budget.

Lovely review! I have a little question for you, would you be interested in reviewing some cheap cheap Philips headphones, besides the build quality (although they do last) I am very satisfied with my shp2500's. It has a 6m wire but there is also a 2m version, the shp2000. They are still made and sold on amazon. They are in my opinion more comfortable then beyerdynamic dt770 headphones :)

so yeah, they have lasted me for 2-3 years now, sadly I dropped them and the depth adjustment plastic part has broken wich makes it loose. oh well, nothing a piece of tape can't fix But I actualy just got my shp9500's in the mail today, I bought them because I have been satisfied with philips audio products in the past (for example the shp2500) and parcialy because of your review. but I'm sorry for what I will tell you next, in my case the shp 2500's are just a tad more comfortable than the 9500's.... don't sue me :-) but I am however very satisfied with it's sound, I have figured out now that the 2500's have a lot of sibilance which is less of a problem with the 9500's

Picked up a pair of the arena 180 and imagine jbl awesome sauce dual 7 inch woofers with that tweeter in a tower! They're so good! My only complaint is that the speaker grill fits so tight in the peg holes that taking the grills off results in pulling the entire plug housings out of the speaker box. Decided to just keep the grills on... But they get loud as fuck and sound so great! Rated down to 39 hz on the low end which is lower than our last sub.

So for an apartment what would be better these or the studio 230s? I was building a 5.0 system of the studio 230,225C and the 220 in the rears. Should I go to the arena line instead? I rather have detail, imaging and sound refinement over Boom and SPL... Thoughts please thx

Zeos, please look in to reviewing the Polk Signature Series S20 and Chane A1.4. The Polks will compete with the Arena 130. The Chanes pump out impressive bass and volume for their size, but their real strengths are near-field and imaging.

The Arena 130 in this video are a step down from the Studio 230. I've listened to the Studio 230's a lot and they do sound better than the Arena 130. Both are good choices though.

Ram5ey , agreed, when I get mine I'm gonna Dremel off the pegs on the grills. take out the plugs on the front off the receiver. Bondo, sand, paint holes. repaint white. buy some 1/4 inch super strong neodium round magnets off of Amazon and some super glue and bingo. no more black dots on the front of the speakers.

Yes Living room Duty would be fine. I own 2 pairs of the Arena 170 and they are very capable even in large rooms as long as you have decent clean amplifier power.

I saw the Studio 230's on sale for $150 at Newegg the other day. I almost picked up a set, but I have an extra set of C103's and the matching center in my closet. I couldn't justify another set of speakers.

The JBL Arena 130 would be a better choice overall output is higher in quality but the Arenas are bigger than the Fluances I own 2 pairs of the Arena 130 they are pretty big .

I tried them on a desk and they have too much highs, I think because of the wave guide you have to be a bit farther back in the dispersion to bet a ballanced sound. Although, while I had them on my desk I did dsp correction for them with a measurement mic to get a flat response and then they sounded amazing so idk

I would personally stick with the JBL Arena series center channel model line. I believe they have 3 different models that way all of your speakers are "Voice Matched" it's very important in the front 3 speakers of any setup.

How much do u lose in a surround setup without the rears? If I ran these, 125 center and a sub? My current setup would be a bitch to get the 120s for the rear.

You would lose roughly 25-30% or a third. Rear channel effect speakers make a huge dimensional difference in sound not so much in music but a lot in surround sound. It all comes down to your personal preference in the end.

The JBL Arena 130 is the better choice as long as you have decent clean amplifier power. The KEF has a different tone than the JBLs but they still sound good.
