Z Review - JAMO S803 [Amazeballs Returns!!] 

I've do the same, take The S 830 HCS kit for my home theater, based on Andrew Robinson & Zeos reviews, and they are awesome, that's my first home theater installation & i love it !!

Hello good sir, I'm planning to get these for desk use as well, do you notice any kind of hum or static noise from these when listening them close?

I would be careful mixing speakers like that, if you use a sub it might be okay.

@@ericthomas2388 Cans are a necessary evil. The best cans will be put to shame by even a cheap set of properly driven speakers. Every time. Count me as another one who has passed on the past 10 or so Z reviews of headphones. Zero interest in spending big money on dedicated phone amps and cans just to replicate speakers.

They are great for a dude like me who likes variety but no place for a bunch of speakers laying around.

@@AllThingsTechSC you only need one set. One set of headphones/ one set of speakers. People who have more usually are just addicted to spending money.

I bought the kef q100 because of him and I don't regret it a single bit over the 2 years. They're beyond excellent desktop speakers. I payed 250 for them and they are worth every penny.

I've spent so much money trying to keep up with Zeos but I'm going broke.!!! I've got the 803s, 801s, pm801s, JBL studio 530s, Fluance sx6, parts express mk bookshelf, and on & on. Yamaha 100wpc, amp. Had to take a second mortgage out for that, lol. But oh my god what an amp, clean & clear. No his!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, Crutchfield is awesome!

I have been buying from Crutchfield since the early 90s. High school. They are now a sorry shell of what they once were. Namely, the Colors of Benetton social theme in their catalogs. I need less of the modern social statement version of Crutchfield and more of the old, all the products and all the info right there at your fingertips Crutchfield that made them who they are. Seems lifestyle and detailed interviews of the dude who sweeps the floors in the back have taken precedent over product info and even advertising. I only give them business when I have to these days.

The Crushgroove , that's understandable. I do have to say that they carry more of a variety of color and finishes on speakers than most other places do .

Very first home theater products I ever bought (mid 90's, Frankenstein system delux, and I LOVED it. lol) plus butt loads of car stereo stuff over the years, came from Crutchfield. Can't even fathom how many hrs I've lost to ogling their catalogs. I will always have a soft spot for Crutchfield.💞

Was considering the towers. How is the sound signature on those?

Nick Martinez The 807 towers sound great. They each have have a tweeter and two 5" woofers. One woofer is for mids and the other is for lows only. I would say the highs are not bright, they are just right to my taste, a tad notch above flat. The bass is just low enough but not too deep so you will need a subwoofer according to the room size since the woofers on the towers are only 5". Im very curious about these bookshelves because he made it sound like no woofers are necessary. That's not the case with the 807 towers. Or maybe i really like bass. Dont get me wrong, they sounds great without subs. But i like me some low frequencies lol. They are sensitive enough at 90db. I have a Denon 3400H avr which has an output upto 105watts rms on 2 channels. About 85-90 on all channels driven. And let me tell you, that is enough power to drive these towers. They go loud without distortion to the point where you have to be close to have a conversation with someone at a party. I had a party last week and didn't need to put them that loud because i didnt want people to have to yell at each other. Like this guy said, they dont neet alot of power. He's right, they aren't power hungry. I can only imagine if i had an amp with more power (120-200w). Im not an audiophile and these are only my second set of towers so I have nothing to compare them to. I bought them for 3 reasons. 1. I wanted some speakers with alot of WAF (wife approval factor) I searched online specifically for white towers. They are seldom. Which leads me to my next point, these were the most affordable white towers i found. 2. Price. They are my first speakers as a married man so they needed to have WAF concerning price. I found these to be the most affordable without compromising too much quality. For some reason white speakers are seldom and usually more expensive. These were a great price at the time ($479 sale for the pair, regular is $599 still worth it). 3. Quality. We all want the best bang for our buck. What attracted me to Jamo after the first 2 points was that Jamo was bought by Klipsch and i believe it was because they believe in the product and based on some research, it was good competition in Europe for their price range. I bought them in white and they look beautiful. My wife not only liked the look of them, she loves surround sound now and called me a genius for buying speakers. All in all i am very satisfied with my purchase. And now i will jump on these bookshelves for my surround speakers. Hope this helps. I might do a youtube review. Maggies? NOTHING sounds as open, fast, detailed , and uncolored as budget little maggies, like what Steve Guttenburg owns! (Forgot the models). What the maggies DON'T do is high level macro dynamics and base! .. even crossed over to a subwoofer, gives you a lean sound. Play Bob Marley heavy percussion or dynamic rock music and you'll be disappointed with Maggies. Pain and simple. These little jamos i briefly heard at Frys electronics today. WOW! I heard some promise! MAY be bright, but not sure, cause of the rest of electronics connected, but ill need to tinker w em. Imma buy a pair n see what i can get from the c803s. Fer $300US, , might be keepers!

​@@alexanderscott3790 Sound is subjective and relative to every individual based on what they listen to, etc. While I do agree with you that Magnapans do sound superior in many aspects, they're not perfect. Some prefer their speakers more bright, or neutral, or warmer. The out-of-phase issue with the room size and placement can be a concern for some with electrostatic speakers. Less expensive speakers can sometimes impress when paired with the appropriate amp. Expensive speakers can sometimes impress when paired with a super cheap amp. I think Elac's Debut series is the best bang for the buck out there, but that's based on my taste and the fact that I have a hi-fi store near me that allows me to test speakers with many types of electronics at will. If you have a store near you like this, then please take advantage of it at will. I think speakers are the most critical factor for a system, with the amp coming well behind it.

Any further opinion on these vs 305's? Just ordered a pair and making sure I'm not being dumb as I own 305's already.

@@PlenumGaming i am still breaking them in. However, my current opinion is that the Jbls play a hair lower, but the S803 tweeter does not cause any ear fatigue at all. If I want to master a track in Logic, I will use the JBLs. If I want to listen to music all day long for the joy of music, it will be the S803s all day long.

@@dafretz this is good news as that is going to be my exact use of both my sets of speakers.

Fair warning, the S803s like a bit of power. I'm powering the S803s with a SMSL AD18 that puts out 60w/channel and running these on my desk. Snarky Puppy at volume loud enough to be "too much" does not distort on the desk, but if I were going to use these for music in a larger room, I'd use a bigger amp.

@@dafretz hmm... I was planning on using an ad18 too. I have a small ish room, maybe 11x10ft.

@1badhorsie The speakers were delayed but finally arrived. Got to say I am very pleased with them for the money. At present I am still waiting for the center speaker which should hopefully arrive this month so will post an update after I have been using them for at least a week.

Cuentos de la Cripta Use Crutchfield whenever they have something you need for a good price. Give them a shot. They surpass Amazon. Im an Amazon prime member and i admit their customer service is good though. But man i have spoken to advisors/sales reps at Crutchfield and wow. They have 60 day price guarantee. I just got a $50 refund for an item that i bought 2 weeks ago because they dropped in price within 60 days! They also have a 60 day return policy. Dont like an item after 30 days? @@BigDavos They are quite good for the price! Definitely have a brighter, more forward sound but that does not mean its bad. They weren't my preference so I returned them.

These are definitely an upgrade over the kef. I hear so much more detail out of these jamos than the q100 it's insane. I was blown away at the difference and how instantly noticeable it was. Why don't you consider them an upgrade?

david nguyen I got the 8” compact sub. Quite surprised with how much punch it has. Center channel has been great too.
