Very good and short video. Hopefully i'll demo this JBL in a guest room and compare to the old Vizio 5.1. I am a basshead with multiple 140lb subs in my main system 👍. I still believe full HT setups can't be defeated by soundbars but we all know about the WAF 😂😁
@freshtowels3917 It's Wife acceptance/approval factor. I also have an update on the JBL soundbars. Since this post I settled with the older discontinued JBL 3.1 and JBL Bar 5.1 with detachable speakers. These two had much better deeper bass compared to the JBL Bar 500.
I heard it in store and liked the way it pays music. I could hear the mids and lows with good base. Any recommendations for soundbars which are good for both music and movies.
Hey Dave, thanks for your review. I'm looking at this sound bar and the LG SM5Y. The JBL500 is on special where I live and is about $104 USD more expensive than the LG. What would you recommend?
Hey, thank you! If this soundbar will be in a smaller space and punchy bass is very important to you then I would go with the JBL, if punchy bass is not as important I can't see the JBL Bar 500 being worth the extra $104. I have an old LG soundbar, and it's still going strong 💪🏾
What do you recommend for a patio. Im looking for something that’s a bit louder than the JBL 500 sound bar?! Need it mainly for music but I want that clean look
I found listening to music really good BUT tv audio via eArc sucks. My old Marshall Stanmore II is better when watching TV. Any recommended set up or EQ settings that will make it better?
I live at the basement and my floor is high standard Rock surface and i bought this jbl bar 500 and idk if its okay for the subwoofer cuz it does sound very powerful like if i was at a movie theater 😅 idk if hard solid floor are better for bass wave😅 can u tell me if it is or not?
Sure, solid floors are good for bass travel. I would recommend relocating the subwoofer around your space testing for better results, possibly close to you area where you sit.
Sure, If you have a Sony TV and you really want to stick with sony products than sure HT-G700 but the JBL Bar 500 is a 5.1ch vs Sony's 3.1 here. I would recommend the JBL especially if its on sale.
Searching for a soundbar but the subwoofer is much bigger than iv thought. Have to find a place for it and it is not that beautiful..Looking for alternatives up to 450 €.
I won't advise it, you won't really get what your looking/listening for, I recommend getting the sub close to you and that will make the real difference.
I own a Sony HTS 400 and it sucks. It’s good for movies but fails badly with music. Absolutely no treble. Soundbars need tweeters and most Sony entry level and even mid level soundbars don’t have them.
