My Xtreme 2 has this passive radiators problem too when connected to AC... with some songs it really ruins the listening experience. The first Boombox (PL version) also had this problem but with the newer version (ND) they fixed it so I really hope they’ll do the same on the BB2. Keep up the good work man!
JBL Boombox 2 ND-AK model has the bass issue. JBL Boombox 2 ND-LK is the new model. ND-LK doesn't have that bass issue. If you want a JBL Boombox 2, don’t buy the ND-AK model, buy the ND-LK model. You can check the model number at the bottom of the box. You will find the model number.
that's just a design flaw. the bass from the woofers is pushing so much air inside the cabinet, it's causing the radiators to over-flex like that. it only happens at that certain frequency. it's not broken or ripped or anything. your boombox is fine man.
1:15 I didn't hear that sound before and now I do (your speaker is fine)every speaker has a small processor they have to connect to Bluetooth and do basic things ect just because something has the capability to do it doesn't mean it has to.A limiter is there for a reason it should be better tuned.
I hear nothing at 1:15. But your right, they should've tuned it better for that certain frequency. but let's be honest how often do we hear that certain note when listening to actual music. not very. and for the amount of things this speaker does RIGHT, these two "issues" your having wouldn't really bother me. this speaker is fantastic and still better than any other speaker it's size.
@@TheAscendedTechNinja ok the issue is how jbl make there speakers are crap they will try to say ohhh it’s waterproof and stuff like the boombox is pretty waterproof but what you saying Is how the build it like for my xb23 when I do bass test it never vibrates or rattle at all because of how the build of the speaker cabinet works and built and if it does rattle your speaker while on a table then that’s actually a bad quality speaker I get it if it is like a 20 or 30 dollor speaker but for 500 bucks no thats why for me I never will get it I have almost thinking of getting a jbl but the issues they have are crazy
Well like I was saying before it's the limiter problem they try to put emphasis on bass so much it mix the highs and mids get lowers to reproduce bass that is not meant to do but I really don't see this problem on any other JBL speakers my Xtreme 2 does it whenever I plug it in and turn it to max volume in certain songs but never broke still lame tho but I already sent that back and ill be getting a new unit by the 8th
this is normal after some time that rubber gets weaker and mid-speakers inside bb2 will deliver more punch to the passives , if you are handy you can remove from behind passive radiators that barriers that are smashing from passives (idk why jbl just installed them to close). or easier way, just buy acoustic foam and get plenty of that behind passives and just one slice behind woofers (it gets better and maybe lower bass and give less pressure for passives but it also reduces movement for both speakers and passives.
@@originaldomino69 you might start hearing a little bit of something here Nad there after some five but nothing like that. But it's good to replace a speaker after 5 years
@@TheAscendedTechNinja yes after 5 years it is good choice but i have still charge 3 that get repaired and still working, you have new boomboxes but if you will use them alot outdoors for 2 years , you will experience same problem like this boombox 2.
My boombox 2 I never had that problem. Mind playing very well and it can handle that big bass very well. I have no vibration problem with my jbl boombox2 .
You recommend the Boombox 1, I have the charge 4 and I have seen that the Boombox 1 is similar to the Boombox 2, of course version 2 has a heavier bass
Well I did but I always like the latest stuff and I plan on upgrading everything to partyboost but I want to get as many comparisons as I can before I start selling my speakers
Well I got mines for 425 but a used boombox 1 yea, I see why JBL gotta make there money back they did of course by now lol but just try to catch it on a sale still expensive as hell
Only use frequency generator under 50 percent volume without lfm and btw its the passive raidiators that are doing that the speakers inside are just fine its probly hit a wire or something is loose btw im sorry for you loss and I am shure hes proud of you being strong and helping your mom
Just a warning as I don't know if you are or not using this. If your using "low frequency mode" don't use it. All the videos out there showcasing lfm are giving people a misrepresentation of what that mode is for. It is NOT a mode ment for customers to use. LFM is designed for troubleshooting purposes when you send your speaker to jbl for repair. It's ment to find issues with the speaker. Using LFM at max volume can push the bass drivers harder then they are designed to go. Hence over excursion. There are people blowing there jbl speakers all over RU-vid using lfm. In fact I had a flip 5 and decided to sacrifice it to see of it really would break it. Dont think the flip 5 sounds good anyway. Well I played bass heavy music without lfm for 24 hours straight at max volume. No issues. Then I switched to lfm and it broke in under a minute. I was able to fix it but for most it would be unrepairable Also I have had a JBL Boombox two for 4 -5 months now and I use it daily and it has the cleanest deepest bass out of all my speakers. And I have about 50 of them. I also using frequency generators all the time when doing comparisons but a lot of those frequency generators have warnings about not using them at high volumes as it could damage your speaker. I never ever go over 65% with frequency generators. There is no real reason to anyway as you start to lose bass at higher volumes.
@@TheAscendedTechNinja that's good to hear. BTW check out the soundcore motion boom. For the price it gets close to my onyx 6. Bass below 40z just like the onyx just not as much or as clean but its close. Comparing them side by side I love both but something about the motion boom really impresses me especially being only 30w. Only 2 drivers, no tweeters and it has the bass and vocal clarity one would expect from a speaker that has tweeters. Honestly it sounds like a miniaturized version of the boombox two. Also with the soundcore app you can customize the sound to your liking. After I do that I actually prefer it over the onyx 6. Onyx 6 loses to much bass at high volumes and the vocals are to recessed.
@@TheAscendedTechNinja I agree it does look cheap and when you pick it up your like wtf. It's so light. Usually light weight equals crap. Heft in speakers is a good thing because the magnets on the speaker drivers are heavy. That said I was expecting the sound to be anemic. But I was totally blown away. It 100% does not sound how it feels and looks. The sound is top notch. I took the metal grill off mine and it does improve the look as the drivers are nice looking. Bro your right I watch oluv way to much. LOL.
Hey! I just got my boombox 2 today and without knowing about lfm I figured it was just some kind of bass boost feature. I think I had it on for maybe a few mins tops and didn’t get very loud with it. Maybe 60% -75% volume and it didn’t seem like the bass was very loud either. I didn’t hear any bad noises or anything. I’m just curious if I could have damaged the speaker in anyway, it sounds perfect now still. And also how can I tell this mode is for sure off?! Just turn the speaker off then back on and it resets back to normal?
This problem exists just on the first Boombox 2 models! (ND-AK you can see that serial number behind the charging flap or on the package) The new ones (like mine) don't do that. It doesn't rattle on any frequency, it's clean and powerful. So if you have the money buy one😉
Ik about the model numbers and all of that and it still does bottom out its just not defective like the 3 I had before I'm on my 4th one you should take a look at my newer videos
You should be fine but just make sure AC mode works and try not to use the frequency generator that's the time I hear it breaks but im going on my 4th Boombox 2 hopefully I get a proper unit
I realize that every time I see one but the unit I got is mostly fine now this was 2 Boombox 2s ago 😅 and I bearly have anything green so it wouldn't look right 😭
You don't have to be careful. It's called "warping" but it doesn't damage your Boombox 2. Also, I have a new boombox 2 and it doesn't do that, so don't worry
The update makes it overall sound better but it doesn't really get rid of it that much but the earlier Boombox 2 models suffer worse but the model I have now still bottoms out but it doesn't break
@@TheAscendedTechNinja Thanks for your response,i am actually dissapointed because i had the first gen boombox and it didn't had any of this problem and i hope jbl will fix this with a software update because the way i see it is the dsp
Np and as far JBL fixing this problem for the Boombox 2 I don't think they are but on the Boombox 3 which comes out late 2022 ore early 2023 maybe but if your not already a sub would really help out😄
Well actually you will gain some bass yea it's reduced a lil but it was already bottoming out around max so you well actually hear it more and the highs aren't as sharp but I think you lose lfm if you did use it
@@mudja9 Well in a good way actually it's more controlled it doesn't bottom out as much which actually takes away bass because its not properly reproducing it if speakers try to over do bass its actually less bass and you will hear a noticeable dip in the overall volume then to get a cleaner sound plus it's not as harsh to the ears but I will say the volume is a little more usable but if you like the extra bright sound for the little increase in volume and extra excursion and the ability to use LFM which breaks your speaker then doint update
@@TheAscendedTechNinja OK, thank you for the explanation. I'm not listening at the maximum volume, so I think I will do the update to doesn't damage the speaker. But for now it stays like this
