So if you’re looking for a large portable bluetooth speaker either so that you can listen to some music during this quarantine or for summer 2020… JBL is a very popular brand to choose from especially cause they have a lot of speakers to choose from. But today we’re going to compare the JBL Xtreme 2 to the JBL Boombox 2. Now obviously since the Boombox 2 is way larger its going to get louder than the Xtreme 2, but there are still some key differences between these two speakers that you should definitely know before you pick either of these speakers up.

Boombox sound difference is not so big it maybe has a VERY little deeper bass and it goes a little louder but the xtreme is pretty nice aswell. Think about what you want to do with them if u want to take it everywhere take the xtreme.

I went into Best Buy planning to buy the boombox, after playing both the boombox and the Xtreme 2 in the store we decided the Xtreme 2 actually was very impressive on how loud it got and the sound quality was amazing. We walked out with the xtreme 2. The only time I regret not getting the boombox is out on the lake on my boat when we’re hanging out in the water away from the boat, and when we’ve been drinking and suddenly it’s “not loud enough” lol. That’s the only 2 times I’ve ever wanted the boombox. You really can’t go wrong with either

For everyone who can't decide: If you love bass and expect bass that you can feel then you should NOT buy the Xtreme 2. It's a good speaker but you can't feel the bass. The boombox 2 gives you bass that you can feel. It's about a bit stronger than half of the partybox 100, which is very good for the size. So you want bass that you can feel? Get the boombox 2 If you want bass you can feel in a big room, get a partybox

Soultion is to buy 2 Xtremes and party mode. Both are the same wattage, thus bigger is louder, but when 2 Xtreme speakers paired double the wattage, lighter weight.

I think with same wattage you mean 2*40 watts from a Xtreme 2 = 80 watts from a boombox 2. You know what? Just guys who don't know anything about speakers compare with watts. Watts aren't anything. When you take 4 Xtreme 2s for example they have 160 Wats like the partybox 100 but 4 Xtreme 2s aren't as strong as a partybox 100. So as you can see it doesn't depend on watts

In future videos, please test these speakers plugged in. The power passing through the drivers increases a fair amount, especially for the Boomboxes. I listen to my Xtreme 2 while at home, plugged in. It would just show the true power of the new JBL BOOMBOX 2 being a 40W rated speaker

Bought the extreme 2 and it’s great! Very happy with it. It seems to work best at 50-80 percent volume, above that the bass levels out and only the hi notes get louder

Thanks for this review, I was disappointed going to Best Buy because there covid policies prevent you from browsing in the store. So I didn't get to listen to either speaker, and based my decision solely on this video. I ended going with the extreme 2 (because it was on sale, and most importantly I have 4x jbl flips to pair). After using it for only one song, I was definitely satisfied with my purchase and happy I made the right decision. Thanks!!

Bottle opener? I don't drink. I always take my speaker with me, boom box ² is the right choice. Bigger is better. That strap, c'mon, we can see that swinging speaker is all up in your way. Just like a "murse". If you want bang, get a boom box². If you want less than a UE MB, get an extreme.

Just curious, have you found a solution to this problem? I had to return 2 pulse 3s for not connecting together. I always have problems with my boombox and charge4 they never stay connected for more than one song. I basically use them by themselves, feels like that feature is pretty much non existent

I mean one of the biggest disappointment that no ones mentions, is that you can’t personalize and equalizer on the JBL app... can’t activate it from a distance, from this app... The fact that there’s is not even these basic options on this app is just ridiculous in 2020. I’m so sooo disappointed about this. I have to modify the equalizer of my music app every time I change the product for example from earphones to JBL Xtreme 2...). And when I connect the Xtreme 2 on my computer... I just have to content myself with the initial sound... so disappointing

Those with Jbl Partyboost feature will connect only to other Jbl Partyboost speakers and those with Jbl Connect Plus speakers connect only to other Jbl Connect Plus speakers. Xtreme 1’s feature is ‘Connect’ and Original Boombox’s feature is ‘Connect+’. I don’t think they can connect. I haven’t tried though.

No. Xtreme 2 has Connect+, whereas the BoomBox 2 has PartyBoost. The original BoomBox has Connect+, so it'll connect with the Xtreme 2.
