JBL Charge 3 Battery Replacement (do read description below for missing instructions) 

Took me 5 minutes to remove the battery, 1 min to order a new one on Amazon, and 5 minutes to replace it. Thank you for the upload.

Very helpful advice and thanks for the heads up about the tabs. The computer repair kits usually have what you need to open the device.

we have a pair of these to link together, your video made it possible to keep my speaker instead of succumbing to the normal temptation to throw it away!!!! The tool to pry the skin off is worth it, the rest in the bag are totally worthless except to lift the tabs while you turn the end cap off.

Fixed mine! It was clipping and not holding charge. New battery from Amazon and this video helped. The radiator was a pain to get off. Took around 20 minutes of twisting back and forward. I also did not break the two latches :) Thanks! P.S. Seems like you need to fix your ant problem..... ;)

Thank you for the great video. I just did mine last night and there were a few differences in the Charge 3 in the vid and my Charge 3 (2016 model). Mine was advertised as "waterproof" and not sure if the red one was a different year model or what -- that could account for the different screws, tightness of the screws, and the waterproof gasket on my battery compartment. 01:43 The case on mine is not held by a screw. Both sides of the case are held by clips. You'll need a more robust tool than what is shown here -- like a plastic "chisel" you scrape automotive gaskets off with. 02:35 Screws!! OMG, the ones shown in the vid are silver. Mine were black, and they were EXTREMELY difficult to unscrew. Tight. Mine were all phillips screws. I was using a precision screwdriver kit. I ended up having to use pliers to twist the handle of the screwdriver to break loose the screws. One, I couldn't get out and it stripped so I had to break that tab off. ALL of the screws all the way down to the battery compartment will just as difficult to break loose. YMMV. 03:46 Shows three tabs. Mine had one. You have to pry it loose with something flat. 06:11 My battery case was clear and has a waterproof gasket under it. 06:54 My end piece had one screw that needed to come out. Then, there are two tabs -- take a small flathead screwdriver and wedge them beneath both of the tabs, then turn counter clockwise. It will come right off.

Great vid....worked for me! Although the screwdrivers that come with the battery are relatively useless. Thankfully, I have a very good Phillips with interchangeable heads. The smallest one worked much better...more positive fit on those small Philips headed screws.

Took it apart with no problem and ordered a new battery. Thanks

I found a mixture of miniature flat head screw driver bits and a small amount of blue tack to hold said bits in place, enabled me to raise the tabs enough while I twisted the baffle anti clockwise and was able to remove it without snapping the tabs :-)

I have the same problems to change the passive radiator, what I used was a lot of flat screwdrivers, so i put 1 or 2 on each flat space aroud the radiator to separate the base of the radiator. I never twisted the radiator because it was really hard attached and i don't want to force anything.

You just have to pay attention because it has two plastic latches to lift up, then just turn the radiator anti-clockwise I'll be hard to move but no worry

I think I will have to use this guide soon. Noticed a decrease in battery life in mine

You cut the video on part you broke the tabs of the side cover... I think you can leave it to show the difficulty to remove the side cover and try to show, on other side, how to open correctly, carefully lifting up the tabs...

I messed it up right from the get go because I didn't realize there were clips that need to slide out so i broke the grille right off. I wish you had shown that in the video. You skimmed that part pretty quickly.

One question for those who own this speaker new and had to do this replacement , did you ever you the usb 5v charger port ? Just curious I only used it twice the whole life of the battery hehe should’ve charge more devices

I can't get the cover open to begin with, as in using the scalpel at the very beginning, yours seems to pop open, mine doesn't, any suggestions?

What if a speaker vibrates a lot and sounds like it's broken? It will be battery change as at the base it comes out and stands out as a relief

Where goes the 4 sticky foam? I am guessing around the battery so you don’t hear it vibrating while music is playing..I’ve been fixing iphones for at least 7 years, never broke anything but i just Broke 3 out of 4 tabs 🥲

Can anybody recommend a good battery? ... I bought a Durapro 6200mah battery, but in reality it has very short battery life. Have any of you found a battery of the same quality as the original? Or at least better than the lousy Durapro!
