@@jorgeblen thanks.😊 I actually contacted Anker to ask and they confirmed it IS a stereo, 2 channel boombox. Pretty incredible. I deleted my earlier, idiotic comment. Thanks again. 😊😊
Soundcore has really announced their presence in the bluetooth speaker market with the Motion+ and Motion Boom. Rather than the JBL Charge 5, I think I'd get a pair of Motion Booms (and only have to spend about $15 more than the Charge 5). Especially for having so many possibilities and configurations for an outdoor setting. Great video as always!
Speaking of dropping..I get your point.. however I accidentally dropped a JBL extreme once and honestly it cracked badly right away..and the actual height wasn't that much. So even though the material on JBL might scuff less, it's actually just the outer layer that is covered. Underneath it's all just plastic like almost any speaker. But yes having more color options is always a good thing. 😅
Great video, as always. Putting the JBL right in front of that small rock cave is boosting the volume of the JBL, in effect, the cave becomes a speaker. The BOOM didn't benefit from that placement. Probably made some difference. Thanks for the vid.
The result would have been the same in the end. JBL to me has a more fuller, richer sound. The Soundcore to me sounds like there is a blanket draped over it, muffling the overall sound. Bass isn't necessarily the overall deciding factor.
I do agree soundcore should come out with a more appealing design for the Boom. Id remove the handle, I rather have a slimmer slick look with the straps like the JBL and I don't mind the plastic but yes some rubber injected plastic bumpers instead would be better.
You’re clueless if you think the boom has minimal lag for video games, lol. Don’t share your opinion on video games if your k/d ratio is less than 1/1 lol
Yo man you make my day so much better homie real talk. I just got my jbl charge 5 also in that dope ass blue, and man that thing slaps! Definitely beats my old $20 I home stereo Bluetooth speaker😂
not going to lie ... I thought the bass radiator was going to vibrate right out of the speaker, on the Boom, lol ... I was waiting for it to move around the side of the pool, based on the beat of the bass, lol
1. I love the review, you are good. 2. I want to talk about this pool! I love the small size. Was it a kit you dropped in the ground or did a local company build it? I have no idea where you are located. I really want a pool that size. Thanks for any info!
That bass on the sound core is 🔥. I love that. I don't have the soundcore. I do have the Jbl Charge 5. Not gonna lie but I love the quality of sound from this speaker. I use it every where and for almost everything. Especially when I'm shooting hoops.
The Charge 5 is awesome and is by far the best in the charge series, but you gave it a distinct advantage putting it in front of the little cave. You can also get quite a bit more out of the Boom with custom EQ settings. Also $76 vs $180!!! LOL! If JBL priced the Charge 5 at $120, it would be a great choice!
I own the select pro and it's "a-may-za-zing". The custom EQ settings put this speaker at the top of its game. Anker took the crown with these 2 speakers.
I am a big fan of some new budget speakers I just got, being the Tribit XSound Surfs, but if there is one I dont need but would love to have lol ... it'd be the JBL Charge series ... even THROUGH all the usual preferences of "audio on YT is compressed..etc etc" ... the JBL Charge tests I have heard ... sound GREAT ... the price is the reason i don't have any of them now
I think part of why i like the JBL's like this that i have heard (even if in a video, and not first hand) is the same reason I like Tribit's stuff ... they can bring the bass when needed, but I am a fan of CLARITY and balance too .... I have heard speakers that dont sound "bad" but .. they do sometimes at least on some tracks/genres, bring too much bass and it muddies up the mids and highs. JBL ... at least with this line, seems to have figured out how to bring that bass, but dial it back before it messes up the balance
You need that custom EQ for the motion boom. I copied the EQ from Alan Ross & Oluvs Gadgets. Both are similar to one another and both are better than any of the souncore presets by far
@@solodanny2198 Ahh Okay! The Motion Boom DOESN'T have a DSP! DUH and i'm a Audio guy! well, it does but its not noticable more so at high volume - on some songs the Boom's Bass is dominate but tamed at high volume and thats why some people really like the Boom. IT REMINDS ME OF LFM ON JBL SPEAKERS!
@@Khyree_Holmes yeeaa exactly 😂. Im pretty sure if u pushed the bass up to much in the eq the dsp will adjust the bass when u raise the volume so they dont break lol.
@@solodanny2198 I noticed with my Liberty Air 2s if I adjust the Bass in the EQ section the sound shifts to compinsate for my adjustment in which I do love in a way and i can get them to distort a little. Overall Soundcore/Anker is a very nice brand!
Thanks for this review bro! I was debating on whether or not to get this for my gym exercises so I didn’t have to keep transporting my studio monitor over to the clubhouse gym lol Amazon confined It should be in today 💪🏾
It sounds like JBL is super expensive in the US. In New Zealand the Charge 5 is $229 RRP and that's including 15% tax. If you convert that to USD it's $136 USD including tax.
Love to see your reviews! Most talk about features and price only, but I like how you test real world use. if you drop it in the poo while youre partying, you can know what to expect.
This is obviously an old video and I do apologize Antwan, but in my personal opinion, the company that typically overcharges for their products is not JBL. Well at least now anyway (they may have before). It's Bose. For example their Soundlink Revolve+ speakers last time I checked cost double that of the Charge 5, and for that money you could get 2 Charge 5's to equal 1 Soundlink Revolve+, and have PartyBoost enabled.
i like my charge 4, i like em all!! 5 has cooler look. i got the boom and the boom plus new one on the way. alot of people useing there charge jbl with there extreme jbl for vocals. and it does work! people got all kinds of different ideas. lmfao!! great video as always bro!!
Don't hate on the JBL bass. It all depends on the song. Because I was listening to this one rap song I've heard plenty times and I was amazed on how much bass it had and how well the bass sound. It almost sounded like it was coming from somebody's car stereo subs but I was the only car around for miles. Cuz I live out in the country. I was the only house for many miles as well. And this was only at 50% volume. I'm actually very impressed with the JBL's quality of sound with the highs mids and the lows. I dropped my speaker eight times total even from shoulder height and I'm 5'10. And the speaker has no dents not even a scratch to be honest with you. So I could understand why the JBL charge 5 is 180 bucks and it's worth the money because I dropped it eight times two of them were from soldier height and like I said it has no scratches no dents and it still plays really good. Although it doesn't have 20 hours of playing time at 50% volume and it definitely don't have 8 hours of playing time at 100%. But if I use the JBL's USB type-c charger to charge it it does charge it very quickly surprisingly. I'm not hating on my speaker I love it 100%. And you can control the bass and treble the JBL speaker. You can use the JBL app. It's called the JBL Portable. That's the name of the app and you push the little figure 8 button once you open the app and the app would communicate with the speaker and you can see the The battery level bar matches the speaker battery level bar. And it only has three of the presets one for highs one for mids and one for lows. And it even has the party mode feature on the JBL app.
And the JBL app is even more amazing when you have two or more speakers paired up to each other that's when the app becomes badass and it sounds amazing. In the JBL speaker does get very loud too because I was playing basketball at a park and I had it right next to the basketball court closest to my car which was on the street and I heard it all the way from the restroom inside from like probably like a football field away. And I was surprised on how how loud it gets for stuff to small speaker. I want to get the more larger one. I don't even know what it cost but it looks exactly like the charge 5 just more larger that one also does not have a handle but it has a place where you can put a strap on it. I'm pretty sure that one has a hell of a lot more base and a hell of a lot more trouble and is a hell of a lot more louder than the charge five. So if the charge 5 can be heard on the other side of the park and could release that much treble and bassthen I'm kind of curious and anxious to see how the big one stacks up.
12:24 yea mines broke because of that sheesh I'm having second thoughts on buying another one but I need content so imma get it again and nice pool btw😄
Interesting point there concerning the build quality and the benefits of rubber. I like the sound signature on the JBL but in case anyone is wondering just remember its a Class D amp that most of these Bluetooth speakers use and so you will find certain shortcomings in sound particularly around the mids in my experience but Class D has come on leaps and bounds in the last 10 years and sound so much better now than ever before and its an system that is still bieng improved. I can still hear a slight Class D 'dry box' sound around the mids even on the Charge 5 but again still alot better now than before. Yep, I do like the Charge 5 overall. Thanks for the reality check in the garden bro, spot on!
The cheap drivers that they use in these BT speakers are going to colour the sound a lot more than any class D amp supposedly will. FWIW, I went class D for my car audio amps years ago (Alpine PDX) and that 10- year old tech sounds great.
This was an awesome review glad I found you, beautiful backyard too. Just subbed! 👍 But I have a question? I'm currently at version 0.6.1.0 on my Charge 5, would it be wise to upgrade to the latest version or will the latest version ruin the sound quality?
Can you share a video of your back yard system. And if you are going to do improvements in future. Just idea for my backyard. Great video. Just purchased the Soundcore motion plus.
I would love to get the motion boom bcuz of deep bass for outdoor and in noisy environments but it’s more expensive than the jbl charge 5 in my country Nigeria, so am getting another charge 5 for quality stereo sound and bass and the jbl looks more rugged good looking compared to the motion boom
If you can pair JBL speaker to actually what the music really sounds like it's reproduction quality it's harmonica reproduction is extremely accurate I've actually measured it it's over 99.7 that other one it's not even ninety it sucks
Looking for the best waterproof by speaker under 75 or very close…. Looking to get my nephew an Xmas gift and his dad asked everyone to keep gifts under $75 this year.
You should make a video and use low-frequency mode on the JBL Charge 5 hold down the Bluetooth and minus button for 15 seconds to deactivate it do the same process
I like the boom but man that design is fugly. Worst than an unbranded 80s boombox from China. Love the design of the jbl and its sporty ability. I can take the jbl to the beach on a boat, traveling and it's always convenient. Boom doesn't seem as portable. Sofor me jbl wins it but man if soundcore can come out with a similar design to ue and jbl, itll dominate the market. It's the only thing holding them back
It's actually both. It's the smallest pool you can get, but it's small enough to make usage of spa jets. Some call it a plunge pool, others call it a cocktail pool. We just had it built because we didn't want to consume our entire backyard with a pool. We love the way everything turned out.
They're both waterproof, but the Sony sinks straight to the bottom of a pool. Here's a video that may also help. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ilN_SExnS4k.html
@@NewStuffTV1 thanks. But which one is better when it comes to sound and volume, xb43 or motion boom? I want the one with the better base, sound and volume for outdoors at high volumes. Love your videos!
I have a Motion Boom and not happy with it even with various custom EQ settings. It's missing something ( Not bass.). I'm going to get the Motion Boom Plus or the JBL Charge 5. Any suggestions ?
