JBL ES250PW subwoofer design fault

Probably every owner of this subwoofer going to experience this problem. I would like to aware every one not to leave ON your subwoofer when you do not use it. The stanby on this subwoofer does not turns the powersupply OFF. Only muting the amplifier. If you leav it ON for long. It will cause burnt printed circuit board. Or if you are not lucky even more damage .
I do not take any responsibility for any damages. This video just for demonstration purposes.

Hi I have a JBL ES250P that have the same problem, I did your fix on mine , And yes it was a little burned thanx for this video!!

hey you all i found a JBL Venue SUB 12 it was over heating, it may sound dumb but i drilled a hole and put a fan on it the dam thing does not over heat or power off. Fault on the SW is does not have no vent no heat shink but still need to vent reverse trouble shoot the issue and this is my find i hope this helps. send it to repair if you all have to and make vents

Hi, I hv ES 250P, it is not switching on and it is always in standby mode (red LED), what would be the possible causes? Thnx in advance

I was just analyzing the schematics. So there is a relay at the output, to disconnect the sepaker. Activeted by mute and the speaker protection. The green LED is ON normaly. When the mute activated The Green LED goes OFF and the speaker get disconected. But not the power supply!!!!!! The red LED activated by the DigitalAnalogue converter of WIFI connection. I would use the analogue input rather WIFI anyway. (There is no lossless AD/DA conversion).

Hi Attila, I have some problems with the subwoofer also and I would like to get the amplifier plate out and the subwoofer. How did you get the plastic box with the amplifier plate out, I have removed the screws but the plate seems to be firmly attached to the wooden enclosure. Can you tell me how to get this thing out..

I have jbl es 250p seams to have gathered a fault when input not loud enough it should switch off but instead it keeps switching back and forth for 10 to 20 times then goes off...also when back in use won‘t automaticaly switch back except when i smack flat hand on top..i would say something loose..can you help?

Subwoofers are very prone for contact fault. Because you constantly shaking the parts inside. I would check solderings. Usually large parts gets cracked soldering. The other thing I would check are the electrolitic capacitors. Look under neath them. The electrolyte leaking from them. It is difficult to repair them because they use silicone to secure parts.

The assembly is totally enclosed by a plastic cover. Will it help in overall heat dissipation if this cover is removed?

You have too separate the electronic parts from the sub. The low frequency would shake the parts off of the board. There is a significant air move.

I do not remember. But measure the main (230 or 120) on the transfomer. If you have it. Measure the voltages at P107 14th page of the manual. And follow the schematic. Or the troubleshoot diagramm.

I have the same JBL ES250PW subwoofer - It has a heart beat, thud thud all the time. I took it apart and there is no damage to see but it must be a design fault. How can you fix it ?

You have to add extra copper heatsink. You can see them on the bottom right corner. Those transistors always ON. They over heating.

Is it doing it when you cool it off by disconnection? Or you have to wait until heats up?

A 110V-os és a 230V-os közötti különbség a transzformátor. A mellékelt képen a 230V-os látható. obrazki.elektroda.pl/4171288700_1441659001.jpg A legolcsóbb ha elviszi egy tekercselőhöz a traszformátort. Vagy ha tud vesz egy ilyet.

Koszonom szepen a gyors valszt,de sajnos nem vagyok szakmabeli,honnan lehetne rendelni egy ilyen vagy egy megfelelo transformatort,ahogy lattam a lengyel link az csak egy forum,es a kepen lathato transformatoron talalt kodok alapjan nem talalok semmit :(

Nem tudom hogy hol laksz de kell hogy legyen egy tekercselő a közeledben. (Google) Csak oda kell adni a kezébe és mondani hogy alakítsa át 230V-ra. Nem kell forrasztania kiszedéséhez. Egy nagyon egyszerű munka ez neki.

Ez egy toroid transzformátor. Sokcég csinál ilyet. Pl. toroid-transzformator.hu vagy www.toroid.hu/ vagy www.tekercseles-transzformator.hu és még ezer. De biztos van a közelében is.
