We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning ru-vid.comUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.

Most of the people can't really understand the difference between these two speakers, which comes down to music taste. If you are a person that listens to bass-based songs, you should really go for the Charge 3, but if you are listening to songs with mids and highs you should go for the Flip 4 for the cleaner sound.

Also it does matter what kind of /size space you're going to use it in - and as he mentioned, how much portability you need. Personally, I'd go for the Xtreme (not the Xtreme 2) over the Charge 3... That's the one I decided on - but I just broke down and got the Flip 4 as well and I love it and the portable size!

Charge 3 has deeper bass and a more surround sound feel to it while the flip is all focused on vocal clarity. If you like rap & EDM, go with the Charge. If you like country go w/ the flip lol

I just received my Charge 3. I wasn't impressed with the sound -- the mid's were muffled and muted. I was all set to return it when I read about updating the firmware. After doing so I can't believe the difference in sound. The mids are clean yet the bass is still strong at the bottom. Amazing sound.

Christian Salcedo you need to download the JBL Connect app. Connect your phone to your JBL via usb cable, Choose your product in the app (JBL Charge 3), Choose "firmware update". It will take 10-15 minutes or so to update.

I use my flip 4 for hiking trips and disc golfing. It's perfect for those things. But charge 3 I use it for house gathering , both are really good imo.

I got charge 3 and my friend has flip 4. I can tell you that flip 4 sounds really great , sometimes even better then charge 3. Mids and higs are definitely better. My only reason why I went with the charge 3 is its battery life, power bank and litle extra bass it has (not that it was very important to me)

Both are excellent speakers. I think you should have bought the flip 4 cause u would play music with your friends, so make a greater sound, but charge 3 have some benefits

The Flip 4 is more portable because it's smaller, but bigger means more power so the Charge 3 is better in overall sound quality.

I dont know why everybody likes so much the bass...It sounds like the music is inside a box! To be honest I prefer to listen all the frequencies in equilibrium. I have a Charge 3, but I reduce the bass aways. You can do it holding pressed the Bluetooth and minus buttons for 10 seconds. Then, you can enjoy a better sound.

Thats because its designed to be kept in your home as an indoor speaker. the Flips and clips are portable and lightweight so they have lanyards to allow you to take them out and about.

If anybody is willing to buy this speaker or any similar speaker, don't doubt it. Ive been using my flip 4 for almost a year and I have no complains. Its not expensive, its beautiful, durable and the sound is great. Bass feels deep and low and has a great power.

I sold both of my flip 3's to purchase the charge3. So glad I did. C3 has a better sound if you add a EQ with it. I tried the F4. Two C3's with the EQ you can't go wrong. I use them in my bike shop and people are really impress with the sound quality. But don't sleep on the F4 it's a heavy contender.

The benefit of the Charge 3 over the Flip 4 is that with an EQ in your phone you can bring the highs a little more to make it more bright

Here in Brazil they are almost $100 apart. Considering the price gap and the fact that I intend to use the speaker in my home office at probably 50% volume, I assume the Flip 4 is a more informed decision. Am I right?

I don't know if this is still helpfull, but if you are planning on listening to rap/Edm (music in which bass is important) go with the charge 3. Of vocals are more important to you, go for the flip 4

I own the Charge 3 and what I do is I flip it a bit backwards so it rests on the corner of the bottom support and the "backdoor" port. Makes sounds brighter while keeping its very deep bass.

If I were to buy the Jbl flip 4 first (for mainly on the go, small trips) , and I were to buy the Jbl charge 3 (mainly for home, or on the go for big trips) would I be able to connect the two and play music out of both of them or is the compatibility out of the question since the flip 4 has the plus, and the charge 3 has regular?

According to the JBL website, the Flip 4 will only connect to JBL Connect+ Speakers, and the Charge 3 has the original Connect. The Charge 3 may get an update to Connect+ in the future but I am not sure when.

Blitzfrrb55 Yes I use both in the same room and the latest updates allow for connect plus...I have 4 charge 3 and one flip 4 and music in every room . Very nice and easy to do with the updates and app. Also can change the name of your speakers to customize and for identification at a party or gathering...make sure you get YOURS back and not a fake someone swapped.

cat 69 I own both and I disagree with that, I had my charge 3 before the flip 4 and bought the flip 4 when it came out and regret it, the charge 3 is better all around in my opinion and doesn't sound muddy compared to the flip 4 at all.

it just makes you think that it's clearer because of the booster treble on flip 4. You associate high treble with "clearness" because back in the day when we still had shitty recordings, the most notable difference to well made records was the muffled treble.

I was at T-Mobile a few days getting a new charger and of course the sales rep said will that be all? How about a speakers or headphones. I ended up getting the Charge 3. It's $6 a month extra on my phone bill. Viunveijari is right. It's not really clearer. The audio has a shrillness quality to it depending on what you're playing. If you're listening to high quality flac files off your device, there's a noticeable difference. The Charge 3 is much better, that of course until the Charge 4 comes out. You can't keep up with this stuff.

I have a Clip 2 and Flip 4. And after saw the video a prefer the flip 4 at least for sound quality and portability. Thanks

Filip x5 right. I've owned both and there is absolutely no way. flip Def sounds crisper but cannot compete with loud background noises. traded in for the charge that is loud enough to use in my very loud work.
