JBL Flip 5 - Teardown 

This whole time I thought the right side of my flip 5 wasn’t working 🤦🏽‍♂️

for everyone asking, the flip 5 is mono audio because on small speakers with 2 drivers like the flip 4 you can’t hear the stereo sound. the drivers are too close. the one driver that the flip 5 has is more powerful delivering louder sound with better bass and clarity.

But does it scratch at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7?

We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning ru-vid.comUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.

Don’t know why people are complaining about the fact the flip 5 uses a mono speaker instead of stereo. The reason why is because the body of the speaker is so small that there is no stereo separation so there is no point in having stereo speakers. The mono speaker is way bigger and creates more bass, loudness and overall better sound. Jbl are not going to release a product worst than their original. I have a flip 4 and flip 5 and I can tell you the flip 5 sounds way better. If you really want true stereo just buy another flip 5 which is basically also why they went with mono cause they want you to buy another unit

I found mine thrown away in the ewaste bin at a bottle depot. It was all dirty and had a little rip in the fabric. I pressed the power button and it started up! Then I connected my phone and it worked and sounded great! I got it home, cleaned it all up and I’ve been using it ever since. It sounds so good I got rid of my Klipsch heritage groove. The battery lasts hours. I can’t believe someone discarded it… it’s $169 at a local store still. We live in such a throwaway society

The sound is decent. Mids are most prevalent which makes it harder to hear in noisy enviorments (e.g. in the shower). It is lacking in higher frequencies though, they should have put a tweeter in it. Could have dominated the bluetooth speaker market if they kept it at Connect+.

I thought those 2 speakers in the old versions made them stereo...

I'd prefer the mono audio when it comes to bluetooth speakers, it produced better bass and overall loudness. Flip 5 should be perfect for people like me.

I see JBL is going the Mono route! is it to save production money? whatever the case, I won't be buying a mono speaker anytime soon!! it's too bad because I own a Charge 3 and a Flip 4 that I'm happy with. I guess when I'm in the market for a new speaker I'll have to look at other brands.

Hope to see a really good bass test and compare it with flip 4 lfm of course don't forget! but a driver this small and cute for its size is looking good i believe it will be really good

For me small speaker are great at Mono... Because i want the crispy and bass sound balance... Mostly portable...

I have something rattling around inside my flip 5 and when it hits something in there it makes a loud popping noise like when the speaker shuts off from too much bass

Really bad that JBL has spoiled the whole range of their speakers by turning the stereo speakers into mono speakers. I would never ever buy such a large mono speaker. Minirig Mini and Bose Soundlink Micro are perfect sized pocketable mono speakers with excellent sound given the size.

I contacted JBL and i asked a question if the all the connect + speakers will get partyboost and they awnsered: Regarding the Party Boost question: -Extreme 2 and Charge 4 have, and will have, Connect + feature, any JBL device with Connect + won't be updated to Party Boost feature, so they can not play together. -Only Flip 5 and probably the new devices that haven't been released yet, will have this feature

Caution: Most of my friends have JBL speakers, usually Flip 4 and 5, it works awsome for max 1 year and then it gets battery and sound quality issues. Just FYI

(Sony SRS XB12 × 2 speaker ) vs (JBL Flip 5). Both costs the same and packed with 20 watt i guess. So. Can you please help me which sounds better and provides better sound effect. 2 speaker from sony can provide better sound effect then single JBL Flip 5?

I have this exact boombox and after I had mine fall seven feet to the floor (when I was putting pillows on my cabinet while changing sheets and forgot it was there) I thought I broke it because sound was only coming out of one side. Turns out it was always like that XD
