That was an awesome review. Thanks so much for all your effort! I just bought the Flip 5 and I'm completely blown away by the quality of the sound. So powerful and a very deep bass playing out of this small portable speaker.
The flip 4 is more useful for an average user, meaning someone who isn't an expert at sound. It has a headphone jack and a mic for calls. I use the headphone jack to link the flip 4 to my laptop, which lacks a powerful sound. When the bluetooth is not activated, the flip 4's battery can easily last 2 days. Going from the flip 4 to the flip 6 wouldn't be advantageous for my daily usage. The flip 4's sound is good enough. It's better than a lot of budget speakers on the market.
@@GYMCADDY Yeah, the mic is not great. You have to keep the speaker very close to you for your voice to be picked up correctly. But the option is there though. It's better than nothing.
@@babayaga2890 Agreed, I Have JBL Flip 3 Stealth, And It’s Still Sounds Great For Me, It’s My First Time Using An JBL. I’m Planning To Upgrade To Charge 3 Though, It’s Not The Lastest One, But Still A Great Sounding IMO. I Like The Stereo
That's right i have a flip 4, but after 7 months of using it, problem appears, in one sunny day i turned on my flip 4 and for no reason there is no sound!! Lights are on and Bluetooth connected but when i played music it doesn't make any sound not even the sound it makes when i press the power button, and i don't know why really i was so sad that day!
I tried to reset it and nothing happens, i tried to do a software update and it successfully updated but still there is no sound at all, i thought that the connection inside the speaker was disconnected but i opened it and everything was as good as new, basically untouched!
Flip 4 is the only one with a built in mic. A game changer for that boardroom meeting, hands free calls around the house and of course the cyclists water bottle holder. Have 5x JBL Flip 4's synced on connect+. Range and Sound is awesome, and unit is built like a tank. Will wait for flip 8. Need that mic!!!
Idk why nobody talks about stereo and mono .. flip 5 and flip 6 are mono speakers.. no stereo separation .. piece of crap While flip 3 and flip 4 are stereo speakers . They have beautiful stereo seperation. Also don't forget that in mono many songs have phase cancelling issues which leads many instruments to become dead in life
Good tutorial thx. Wished you talked about the repairability of each model, changing the battery of my flip4 was a huge pain in the ass, and in my experience battery died in less than 2 years, twice. Cheers
Thanks for the in depth review! I think I'll be keeping my Flip 4 as it's the only one of the three that is stereo. While that may not be a deal breaker for some, I sometimes enjoy reading a book or sleeping with the Flip 4 playing on my chest, and at that range you can definitely hear the left and right speaker separation. And I also use the 3.5 Aux input a lot.
The flip 4 is good with latency. I accidentally discovered my new Soundcore Boost and Soundcore Mini 3 have too much latency for video (probably >300ms).
This flip series are outstanding got them all they keep getting better sound quality as they produce new speakers and the demo song is outstanding great video as usual.
I’m gonna be honest - a woofer/tweeter configuration still doesn’t replace the instrument separation and width of dual full range drivers. Mono downmixing sounds terrible with modern songs. I understand that sound width and quality is very subjective, but when some song just refuse to play normally on the newer mono speakers while they work ok ok something like the archaic flip 1, JBL has a real problem.
I agree but the part were you said "some song refuse to play normally", I think it really depends on how the song was recorded. For instance, I know of some songs that when played on a mono speaker, one or two instruments are missing unlike when played on a stereo speaker. So it honestly depends on how the songs were recorded.
@@joshking4679 yes, but that shouldn't be an issue yet it is for mono speakers, thats why i believe mono is unacceptable. It's kinda like saying black and white TVs are mostly fine despite showing zero color information... and despite color tv being a standard for years. Same with mono, it's just inexcusable
Mono has definitely been coming back. Most people i know just buy a flea market cheap Chinese tower speaker when they need something loud and they're great for loudness or parties but the quality is terrible
Great review man! I just saw a guy comparing Bose sound link to JBL 6, and while comparing the two somehow he ended up putting JBL vertically, while the Bose were laying flat. It pissed me off pretty bad xD Watching your video gave me a relief! Did a great job comparing sounds with fast switching! Thanks!
Just by that demo the five sounded recessed almost mudded, and the six sounded too bright, the four may have less volume and maybe less range in the extremes but it sounded tuned the best
Hey bro, i just wanted to say, i watch ur vids many times, and u should still keep making this type of videos! Bc i enjoy them (especially with jbl speakers in them) and im sure many other people enjoy ur vids 2 so keep up the good work
I owned the flip 5 and it just didn’t have enough volume for my liking, felt like you could only play it just over half way before hearing significant quality in sound dropping, from this video it seems like isnt enough of a difference to make it worth the price tag, unless you are getting one solely for on the go id recommend a larger speaker
I was also planning to replace my Ue Boom 2 with the flip 5. I had tested it and the Charge 5 in a store. Although I do like the flip 5, I want to hold off to wait for the flip 6 to arrive here in Singapore
The rubber feet are nice, but the similar feet on my GO3 and CLIP4 all started to fall off within 3 months of use. Hopefully it doesn't happen on the FLIP6.
Really a drawback on build quality, sound quality for sure is better, but that make me think twice to get the new line up of jbl speakers which mostly use the rubber thing on a fabric, the body design before these are better
The flip 4 stays in my hard becouse it was my first jbl speaker and becouse that speaker made me fall in love with jbl (i now have a jbl extreme 3 and a partybox 310 coming up)
I've upgraded 2pcs. Flip5 to 2pcs. Flip6 and it seems to me like a jump from 128kbps mp3 to 320 kbps. I've said the same upgraded Flip4 to Flip5. Well, it doesn't worth twice price, but there is a difference. You should compare it for at least 10 minutes. I know you don't like Flip5 mono speaker. This one have a tweeter for high frequences. It doesn't sound so mono comparing to Flip5. You should listen it if you still have Flip4. I think it's like comparing MP3 to FLAC (flip4 & flip 6). But the price. Do you need FLAC sound on the beach or noisy public place? Do you have extra money for toys? I think Flip4/5 is enough if you already have it. JBL App works fine and fast with 6. There are no detection issues.
Me too. A relative of mine had one recently and just GAVE it to me so I got her black flip 4 for free :) it's a pretty damn nice speaker to get for free 😂 no need to spend $100 for a flip 6 when the flip 4 really doesn't sound BAD at all you know? I'll probably buy a flip 6 (or 7) when the battery finally dies
Sound quality, i still prefer soundcore motion + but flip series is more comfortable to bring everywere and tough for outdoor use especially flip 6 is a tank.
You can still use the usb-c port for audio input. For that simply press Play and Bluetooth till the Speakers turns off. From this moment the speaker only work via usb-c inout. To exit press the same buttons.
Go and clip:portable audio Flip:hybrid between portable audio and outdoor audio Charge: more for home audio than outdoor audio Xtreme:mostly better for home audio less for outdoor audio Boombox:recommended for more stationary sound then bringing it out side These recommendation’s are not entirely accurate to certain people and are based on size and weight.
I tried the Flip 4 and 5, and the Flip 4 had much better high-pitched sound reproduction ability and resolution. I think they probably added a tweeter to the Flip 6 to improve its high-pitched sound reproduction ability. And Samsung chose mono just to sell more speakers.
Same here. I've had my flip 4 for 3 years and haven't had a single issue with it. Besides the dual dynamic drivers it has, it also has a built-in mic unlike the flip 5,6
Killer video as always dude. Could you float up a shadow of the previous iteration woofer-tweeter formations when you're showing the different formations of speakers?
Im still using my flip 4 I bought back in like 2019 and its doing great, although I had to change the battery after just 1 year of use... The aftermarket one is cracked though, I don't use it that much and I only charge it like once every week or even longer
Only complain is that during the pound test you didn’t label which speaker is which. Yes, the flip 6 has the big letters. But i personally can’t tell the difference between 4 and 5
Hi Sir, do you have a video on how to fix JBL Flip 5 who does not Power ON anymore? I've follow the instructions on many different videos on how to fix it but it did not work.
I’ve just gotten the flip 6 I previously had the flip 4 I absolutely love them both my only issue is that there’s no cover over the charger port which makes me scared to get it wet 😂😂
@@merina8989eh once it’s dry you can blow into the charging port. I use the clip 4 has the same exposed port and it hasn’t been an issue at the beach yet or the shower.
Because they have a “road map” and have the next ten speakers for each category already planned and mapped out. These speakers run on batteries mono gives you bigger sound for less power. They are slowly making the speaker they want. We fund them to create new speaker parts by buying their current speakers. This is how TVs, computers, any electronics company operates. They can’t give you the best speaker right now because it would cost $1000. Instead they slowly creep up to that speaker quality $100 at a time so we can keep funding them.
JBL flip 5 not having an EQ is not an issue with LGs VXX Thinq phones. Default system wide EQ in the audio section. Only got 4 hours out of the Flip 5.. Took it back. Wasnt worth $140 at Best Buy.
@@GYMCADDY I picked up the UE Hyperboom recently cause of you. Other then the awesome sound coming out of it I love all the features that it could do. Remote on and off plus input changes is so convenient! It doesn't have super low bass like my Studio 5 but it makes up for it by being so much louder and clearer. Not only that the battery life is a lot better as well. I'm looking to pick up the studio 7 but still have my eye on a studio 6 in gray. If I see it for sub $150 then it's an instant buy for sure. The studio 7 are around $180 rn and even that is an awesome price cause I heard it's the best studio speaker yet.
Hi There!! currently I have Flip 4 but battery is giving me problem slightly... everything else still perfect!!!!! could you please suggest any other speaker apart from Flip 6, just little bit cheaper if so...or shall I go for Flip 6 only?
@@pamelah6431 no, no sound comes out the sides you see. all the sound comes out of the front left of the speaker (when looking at it head on), the right front side is where the battery is and the circles on either side are the radiators - they are there to stop the bass "leaking", keeping the base crisp but they also act as a cushion to protect the driver from too much internal pressure. they dont make any sound themselves, rather just help to keep the sound coming out the main front speaker crisp.
I would like to highlight a somewhat important fact: the Flip 4 has STEREO output, while the Flip 5 and Flip 6 are MONO. This might not be of concern for most users listening to it outdoors or with the speakers vertically on their side, but for those like me, that use the Flip 4 as a “soundbar” for their laptops, set horizontally and closer to their face, the lack of depth and left/right sound stage might unfortunately be missed. Also, as some other commenters already pointed out, the Flip 4’s analog aux-in input delivers zero latency, while this might not be the case with the Bluetooth-only Flip 5 and 6. I am a Flip 4 owner that’s been enchanted with this little guy since day one for the last 5 years, and from this review I decided to keep it a little more, mostly because it doubles as my house and laptop speaker (via aux-in, where stereo audio with no latency makes a difference), while saving for the higher bracket Charge 5. FOR THOSE ON A BUDGET: I just had the 3rd new battery ordered for my Flip 4 (yeah, unfortunately they die yearly) and would advise anyone that’s on a budget to buy or maybe even get for free on FB Marketplace a used Flip 4 with a bad battery (the main symptom beside short playing times is a wobbly bass) change it on the cheap, and have a perfect all-around speaker. This was such a helpful review, thank you!
The stupid App will not let you use the EQ settings when in Stereo Party Boost, Only when you are using a single speaker may you adjust the EQ settings. I have two Flip 6 speakers on the latest firmware, and the App is useless .
