From the back looks like carbon fiber. First time i have seen a fiber glass box. I offen glass the inside of my boxes to brace them but they normally built from plywood. Keen to see when its done
dlf restoration yes sir A lot of these boxes were installed in casinos from what I have been researching and as well back in the days using them in concerts they definitely are amazing sounding boxes kind of sounds like a jbl vertec 4880a
@@SoundGuy-vn3kl they are cool the new oness are molded plastic but the plywood ones tend to go deeper. While you busy glass in some Bracing on the big inside panels and line it.
Hello mate, I own 8 of these subs with 4 top cabinets 4895. I would like to unmount the frame to give them the brand new paint they deserve, but I didn't find the way to separate the parts away... Can I ask you how you managed to do that please ? Thanks a lot by advance, Cheers
Peter hello there that’s awesome that you have them aswell I am from Canada as far as I no I am the only person in Canada that owns them I have never seen them in this country only in the USA and the uk it took me 5hours just to remove one box it’s not that easy plus you would have to heat the bars aswell with a torch because Jbl put a adhesive behind the bars and if you don’t hate them you’re never going to take them out you will end up breaking the box or cause a lot of damage to the fibreglass and then you will have to do big repairs with the fibreglass I am learning that now not much work
@@SoundGuy-vn3kl thanks to have replied ! Woaw it sounds like a job here, I'm not too sure anoymore to wanted to do it... As I don't want to damage the amazing job JBL done on these carbon fiber subs ! I believe you, this system is pretty hard to find as it was extremely expensive at its time and only big company could afford it. I'm from France and thanks to a huge event company that used to tour an impressive 96x 4895 tops + 84x 4897 subs system, people like me finally could afford it (in really smaller quantity for sure). They sold their entire system in smaller quantity so I definitely know that there's few people here that owns this system too. I watched some others videos from you these last weeks and months, and I find funny the fact that we both own another really uncommon speaker, Yorkville U215 ! I'll stay around to watch your future videos. Cheers from France
