So over the last few months Sony has really been refining their box speaker and giving them a much more neutral and balanced sound signature. But JBL also just refined the upgraded their new Partybox Speakers. So today we’re going to compare the Sony XV500 to the JBL Partybox 120 and we’re going to see which small box speaker is right for you.

@carlosdbz1 high-quality binaural microphones would present the sound a lot better rn I just use my S23 ultra and it does a decent job overall but it has a harder time scaling loudness compared to my Note 10+

Pls do Sony mhc v3 series(v13,43,73,83)ik u have already done v13 but u did it with the wrong sound field.... pls... I have requested many times pls..... it can easily beat JBL in features but I want a sound comparision cuz it isn't available anywhere....pls do it

I think this time, at least in plugged mode, they are finally reaching a comparable level. Loving the sony boxes for their slightly more "natural" sound quality (and I think they still exceed in Metal and Rock), but I can not - and don't want to - deny the JBL Partyboxes are better suited for "Party-Sound", especially outdoors. I think both sound signature styles have their pros and cons. Edit: really diggin' JBLs exchangable battery packs! That's one major advantage!

PB120 having Bluetooth 5.3 and Auracast is a major advantage over Sony. Also small things like having a volume knob on the 120 is much better to use than having touch controls (but that might be subjective).

the partybox app says that the 120 and 320 are tws compatible ( in app only ) so can a 110 and a 120 be paired together by using the app ?

Not at the moment. They use different connection protocols. This might change with future updates.

The Sony sounds more "musical" JBL is just loud. I like it's bass though.

Not true at all. They both have really good sound quality to them - just different sound signatures. JBL puts more emphasis on bass while Sony sounds more balanced. It really depends on what kind of music you intend to listen to. Also JBL will sound more balanced outdoors while Sony will sound brighter.

As a music producer i’ll say, different music genres have different frequencies. Its all dependant on how you EQ your speakers, but if its louder, then thats the better option

Normally I prefer Sony, but here the XV500 sounds just a tad thin to me versus the Partybox 120. Maybe I would feel differently if I had both in front of me.

Really enjoy the reviews, but really want to see the jbl Club 120 and the Sony Xv500 compared to the Onn large party speaker gen 2. Really impressive speaker in this size category at only $150 while large speakers like these 2 retail for $400.

On the 110 vs XV500 video, the PB110 was a clear winner. This only shows how much the song choice matters in these comparisons and how different songs favor different sound signatures.

Must be speaker placement on room sound comparison of jbl 120 has much better deep bass and good treble than sony xv500 on higher volumes from other bass tests and comparisons between 2 speakers

Speaker placement is key actually it’s the most important thing as to achieving the best sound out of speaker in my room I get lots of deep bass but in other rooms not so much I get other frequencies boosted it basically changes the sound and Tuning

I own Sony xv800. With Sony you will feel the original quality of the music with balanced sound,more clear mids better instrument separation and satisfying enough bass unlike jbl’s overpowering bass that suppresses vocals making it good only for dance and parties but not who wants detailed experience of the music or for audiophiles. What do you guys think?

Nah it just sounds like too quiet and it doesn't sound as good as the JBL obviously the base is pretty terrible for the speaker size ratio it's so big and so little bass you literally ask me why like look at that big tower 10 and that thing doesn't even have rattling bass what are you doing New sound more worse then last time

Usually Sony just get demolished by JBL but in this particular song choice it was pretty close call and I think Sony sounded a bit better which surprised me. But as an overall package PB120 still wins hands down in my opinion.

Sony sounds better but who cares about sound quality if your speaker doesn't have enough Bass or loudness JBL has better loudness and better bass which is more important than sound quality Much better speaker overall
