Little bias on the Bose. Yes the Bose did sound better but the jbl still has a great sound and you do still hear some bass. I think you may have ear plugs in when doing the jbl review. The jbl are now under 100 so it’s a bargain in my book. Some draw backs but the jbl is still a great product with this.
They knew what they were doing lol... making a cheap copy of a cool new bose product. It's like comparing a vizio tv to a Samsung... they are great until you experience them next to the competition.
Already have one i only used 1 month, as you say is only for particular occasions and purpose is not a replaced a headphone. You must aware where you used be caused can disturb the people around you. The bottom line is when you watch a movie and you have a ambiental sound (let say raining) or any ambient noise there is the magic is like you was there and the rain or sound is around you like 360 degrees. Yes Spence but if you can obtain is really nice to have. The other bad is you living on placed where is hot weather, is generated hot around your neck and can sweat becaused the bose soundwear. Both i liked...!!
These are absolutely brilliant, hot, humid weather and in a small apartment in densely populated mega cities . Here at the equator where temperatures are 100degress american/imperial on average everyday all year, having good sound means IEM. I bought the bose soundwear and its the speaker/headphones that get the most use
Great comparison review. A lot of comments think that the tech idea is dumb as opposed to in-ear or headsets. In my state, hands free devices which includes such in-ear & headsets are allowed during driving personal vehicles. BUT, not the case for CDL drivers. They are not allowed to cover any part of an ear while operating a Commercial Vehicle, including the ‘ol single Bluetooth with mic. Could you imagine being a CDL driver & the company issues you a vehicle with no radio... or when they call your cell(no CB or 2-way provided), you can’t just pickup & answer. You have find the safest place to pull over & call them back for further instructions. So I thank all the tech companies that are taking on this approach for us guys who love their tunes & job, while still free to work in a safe environment.
I work in a somewhat noisy environment. Has anyone tested how loud these and the Bose speakers are? If either one are capable of over 80 db, I'd be interested. The LG tone plus sport is not loud enough for me.
juls youtube my job does not allow headphones, plugs or bone conduction headsets. Something like this would be the only allowed wearable personal sound device.
For jogging, I hate having headphones because I cant hear my surroundings, what if a car hits me and i could have dodged it if I heard it coming, thats where this is perfect!
I subscribed because of this video and offering an exact review I expect. If it's not up to par, just say it and move on. I'm going to watch the bose review and I see the video is 3x longer. I'm expecting you to see your shock and excitement on how well it performed for being such a specialized use "speaker"
The Bose are too far from your ears for a truly immersive sound ( due to their size ). JBL on the other hand is amazing. But only in the mid range. The highs are lacking as are the lows. And talking, car crashes, etc all sound like it's coming from behind you. Def annoying. But youre also talking $179 vs the $300 Bose. That's a huge difference. I'd get the bose if the speakers were bigger or the system was closer to your ears. It just feels like i'm listening to portable desk top speakers. I wanna feel like im inside the movie, concert, etc. Bose just doesn't give that experience where as the JBLs does. but like i said, the JBLs sound isn't ballanced. too far in the back and over powering mids. Neither device is woth over $150. imo. Maybe the second gen will address the faults of these 2 units . That said, I bought the JBLs for $120 new / open box. And i'll cut it open to see how far i can expand it thus moving the speakers forward so everything doesnt sound like its coming from behind me. Gonna be a project that's for sure. and the structural integrity will be compromised. But it's woth it for the amazing mid range sound. As i've said before, both units are lacking is certain areas and certainly not worth $300 for the bose. Though the bose speakers were balanced. great sound IF the unit was closer to your ears. I was in haven when i lifted the unit up about 2 inches. It's amazing how much the sound quality drops up in just a couple inches. And cranking the volume doesn't have the same as having the units close to your ears. Im sure Both Bose and JBLs next gen will solve these issues. Till then don't waste your money on the $300 bose. And unless youre willing to experiment on the JBLs to move the speakers forward, don't buy those either. You can tweak the highs, and lows with an EQ ap, though its not ideal, it's still an improvement in balancing out ththe e frequencies.
Down voted for being a JBL hater. Notice how he says how great it is to have a longer battery life but doesn't mention the downside of being an hour longer to charge? I agree the JBL has faults in the range, but the Bose sound like they're dest top speakers not the submersive feeling of the JBLs. And if you're gonna hate on the JBLs so much ( hater is defined by not mentioning anything good bout the competitor. ) Then at least do a sound comparison so we can hear the difference. As well as holding the Bose 6inches from the mic ( avg distance form shoulders to ear. ). and then 3 inches. Notice the amazing sound quality difference that even cranking the volume doesn't remedy.
Tyll, thanks for the review. You saved me some time and money. I don't know why JBL would ever have a poor sounding product. They have some of the best audio researchers in the business. Perhaps they should run every product by Dr. Floyd E. Toole before they put it on the market.
@Konad Benz: give me he models of the JBL Bluetooth speakers you’ve tried. I own different JBL speakers/headphones, ranging from the Flip 3, Pulse 2, Link 20, Everest Elite 100, Everest Elite 150NC up to the JBL Rumble and Boombox. The Rumble has the best soundstage and frequency range, thats why you still find this used for over $150.
Yep, all a bearded middle-aged man needs is one of these and a wooly hat ;) Lets get back to those 6K HiFiMan headphones and the 3.5K DAP to go with them, Tyll - this thing is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.
