Just bought two days ago the JBL Xtreme 2 and immediately did the firmware update, it just blew me away. Never been a JBL fan but this thing is just great. This weekend i will take the Xtreme2 to the pool to do some tests. Just want to say thanks to clavinetjunkie, keep the good work going.
For me I feel it depends on the genre, house music sounded really good on the jbl because of that extra bass but I feel Bose sounded really balanced with different genres.
yea now that i have 360° speaker i can appreciate it now because as front firing speaker you have to put it in the corner of the room for you to hear around the house.
I have the charge 3 and just recently bought the revolve+. I love the bass from my charge 3 but clarity and room-filling sound, revolve+ is the absolute winner for me. bass is not that bad. it's close to the charge 3 but not that deep.
I rarely post a comment (too stresful dealing with the correct English!:) but.....These two speakers are really a bit hard to compare - and the fighting below is funny. JBL is more of a party speaker...while Boss is more audiophile orientated and more mature. Songs from basically all comparison videos are (I do not know why) a bit "dumb". Mostly house, insane amounts of unballanced bass and spiking highs. If you want to be shaken from the inside by the amount of bass, half drunk at some party and the only criterion for a good time is the amount of "BUM BUM" from the sound source, than buy an appropriate speaker for this (JBL). However, if you want to sit on your sofa and enjoy MUSIC, go for the Bose. Bashing Bose revolve + is like going to a fine dining restaurant and complaining about the portions being too small, get it? According to acknowledged audiophile review sites, JBL is never (or rearly) the speaker of choice. Revolve + was voted as one of the best (if not the best) under $300 speakers several times and it falls more in to a cattegory of B&A beoplay A1 and similar. One should not underestimate the bass response on Bose revolve + (or even revolve!) before hearing it in person! It is not only the amount of base but also how accurately the lower frequencies are destributed...and believe me all this Bose hating thingy going on right now is really just a popularity thing but has no real ground. You should listen to speakers in person not over youtube and listen to the songs appropriate for the speaker's intended purpuse. Therefore, I rather read reviews and trust the experienced reviewers or go and listen to the speaker in person.
Great review! I own Bose Revolve+ and yep, not too bassy. Its about portability and compromise. I love the Extreme but had only 25min battery life (refurb) so I returned it. Long term use, Bose. Best semi-portable BT speaker for $300, Aiwa Exos9.
@@abdulkerim01627 i dont have an extreme 2 so I cant compare. If size is similar to the original, i would go with Bose Revolve +, more portable, esp for outdoor, it is 360 sound. The extreme is nice if you are listening to the 'covered area'. I dont know about battery life long term though. Bose customer service is top notch (US). That is my opinion, yours may vary (application wise).
Hi Oluv - Have you tried the JBL xtreme 2 firmware update ? Apparently it addresss the issue with loudness at higher volume ..... it should pack more punch now ? 🎶👍🏻C
With a sound that is crushing the bose, 360° is irrelevant, considering the JBL fills the entire room. I dont put a speaker in the middle of the room. I put it facing a room. The same can apply for the outside. I think neighbors would prefer something not 360° also. Maybe I'm just old fashioned lol.
I have two of these, and in stereo in the two corners of the room, it sounds amazing!!! 2 revolve plus. A wooden stand would be a perfect bass “speaker” under the revolve plus.
Hi, I have a JBL Charge 3 and a Flip 4. Both of them sound great in bluetooth mode, but whenever i plug them in via aux cable, the sound quality worsens and a get a constant buzz going through the music. I tried different aux cords, and different sources such as my phone, my pc soundcard, and a dac/amp that I have, and all of them have the same issue. Anybody else have this? Any ideas what to do?
Excellent video and reviews again I have to hand it you I like your style You seem to do it properly from different angles but remember the jbl extreme 2 is not surround shape the sounds only from the front the bose is aa speaker in it own class but each to their own Taste nice bit of music you have There many thanks again always Enjoy your videos very very much Thank you
I’m listening on my new soundlink from Bose I couldn’t decide today at Best Buy . I think now maybe I should of got jbl. Jbl was more money but in my range . It was between these two . I can return . Thanks for your help
I have no idea as I haven't heard the old L either. I won't get one as it would be too expensive, i would rather be interested in a new and updated M as I still regard this one as nicely portable.
This is the most unfair comparison I've seen in a long while. Comparing a single fullrange driver speaker with 360 degrees sound to a 4 driver conventional speaker design? That's like comparing a car with a motorcycle: They will both take you anywhere you want, can cost about the same, but are fundamentally different devices. These two speakers are so different that this comparison isn't going to tell anyone which one is better. That will depend on how you're going to use your speaker. I own both the Harman Kardon Go & Play 2016 and the Bose Soundlink Revolve+. Both are great speakers: The HK is suited for conventional use, where you'll put the speaker near the wall of a room, and the Bose can be put on a table and give everybody around that table the same music experience. Two awesome, but fundamentally different speakers which can't be compared to each other, in my humble opinion. - By the way: Thank you Clavinetjunkie, for the endless stream of these bluetooth speaker reviews & comparisons: Your channel made it easier for me to decide which BT speaker to buy. Thank you for that. :-)
I am certainly aware of their size differences, but would you mind elaborating their sound quality and style? I do own the Go+Play right now, but I'm thinking about whether to purchase the Revolve+ due to its weight and battery life.
@clavinetjunkie who is the best for all uses; my bedroom, bbq, pool, beach...? i actually use bose sounlink mini ii but sometimes i need more power. I tought these speakers; revolve+ (250€), denon envaya(150€), megaboom (170€) and b&o a1 (200€)
The sound on the bose is better, but for party purposes and to listen off axis the Bose does an excelent job!. Bose imho is for crowds or to carry it to the pool or on any party outdoors. In resume Bose is more all round. Not the better on sound but the 360º sound is a good plus. Thank you! your channel is gold!
I mean to be fair, what Bose managed to do with a single full range driver is pretty impressive. Despite that, the Xtreme is cheaper and sounds better so it's really kind of irrelevant.
no doubt, xtreme 2,3,4 mabye are not designed for critical listening and bose revovle either. if you have muscle and wanna louder sound, pick 2.5KG jbl. but think about BOSE plus only around 1 kg, much smaller. how can people compare products by price? 300 dollar you can get pair of Q acoustics q bt3 2.0 bluetooth speaker. in front of them, JBL sounds like $#%@$^%#&^. but we believe they are incomparable.
Also, the compacity of the Bose vs the Xtreme is to take into account to be fair ... But I agree too, the Xtreme is better at full volume. If you need a party rocker, go for the Xtreme, otherwise the Bose with the dock is very nice ! (I had it, but sold it due to the "non use" vs other speaker since I didn't take the Bose ouf of the home to "preserve" it :p)
Hi there 👋 I have a question for you Oluv, and that is, what is your oppinion about buying two jbl charge 4 and have it in stereo, or to get one Xtreme 2? The room is around 10m2, its small space, nicely damped. I like nice stereo sound, but dont know if its worth spending 240 e on xtreme2 or 260 for 2 charge 4 :) Thanks in advance Best regards
I appreciate you taking the time to share this with the youtube community if you could slow down a bit cuz between you talking so fast and your accent I'm having a hard time understanding you.
Would not have considered this to be a reasonable comparison. Not sure why people would and to compare these two speakers. Thanks for everything your do.
The secret of getting more bass out of the Bose speaker is putting it against the wall preferably a corner, of course this isn't always feasible outdoors.
JBL if you have one in a corner of a room (I have one for my bedroom) and have it in the corner facing towards the middle. Bose is more of a middle of room speaker, like a party speaker.
Bose is always over price yet still bose sound carp with no bass at all. This is why i bought the jbl xreme 2 because it sound lot more better with deep good bass.
Need some help which of the below is best as I'm looking for something with awesome sound (volume and bass) and if it can be a smart Speaker ;) better : Aura Studio 2 Onyx studio 5 Jbl link 500 Jbl Extreme Jbl extreme 2 Google Home max Bose home speaker 300
Thanks for this great review. I'm looking for a 360 Portable Bluetooth Speaker for outside (in the garden for example). which one is the best between Bose soundlink revolve + and the livratone zipp mini? Thanks!
Joep H. I know I’m gonna use it as one.i did it with my charge 3.i just put it in a bin and put the bin under my bed facing the wall.with the two flip 4s in stereo I can’t hear anything but the bass coming from it.so it’s used as a sub
I have already brought the jbl exreme 2 and I am happy with the sound quality to. The bass is pretty deep and sound pritty good to. I am now going to buy the Bose revolve plus. The revolve plus sound pritty good to however the bass on the Bose is tolley mind blowing to.
One big downside to Bose Revolve plus, I loved this speaker. It sounded amazing! Perfect for indoors but would fall apart outdoors. I dropped the bose in the pool while outside one day and it was dead. $300 down the drain literally. My wife bought me the XTREME 2 and I was blown away, couldn't believe it had the same quality as my bose but with a more rugged and sportier finish. Huge plus side is that it is water proof! Both these speakers are great but it all boils down to your life style and personal preference. If you travel and are constantly outdoors like I am I would consider going with the Xtreme 2.
I must say, I’ve owned the Xtreme and now own the Revolve+. The Bose is the best Bluetooth speaker I have ever had. Never had any problems with Bluetooth connectivity and the Revolve+ has great battery life, much better than the Xtreme. The sound of the Bose is maybe a little bit less, but it’s a lot smaller too. The Xtreme does not sound good for it’s size, it’s underwhelming (especially in bass area, does not go deep enough). The Bose sounds better than it’s size will suggest, with deeper bass and sparkling treble.
I agree with this. After switching between the two for a while, the jbl extreme 2 sounds very underwhelming for its size. Frankly, it sounds cheep. With the revolve I get warm, room filling sound that is easy on the ears.
The xtreme 2 is gonna get louder the charge use to be the same at first when it came out and after a couple updates it got louder when increasing volume
The revolve + is a mono speaker, it crisp and very very durable. also it's a smart speaker well worth the buy. Water proof, dust and drop proof. I'm in love with this lantern looking speaker. The xtreme 2 is a beast but not comparable to the first gen speaker. Not much of a smart speaker but very good for the outdoors too. well worth the buy for an upgrade.
For my next large speaker, I'm considering the JBL Xtreme 2, the Bose Revolve + and the HK Onyx 4 or 5. Which one would have the best overall sound quality? Thanks!
I coach beach volleyball out on the beach and need a speaker that can sit in the middle of 4 courts and be heard on all of them. The Brookstone Big Blue Party Indoor Outdoor Speaker was perfect, but I had to replace it because it’s a fire hazard. I bought the JBL Boombox and it does everything we need EXCEPT it only faces one way, so you can’t hear it from the two courts behind it. What is the best replacement? I need portable, bluetooth, loud, 360 degree or at least front & back speakers so sound goes 2 opposite directions, and waterproof if possible. Budget up to $500. I'm looking at the Bose Revolve+ but am not sure it's as loud as the Big Blue Party. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Get another Boombox, connect them together with connect+ and put it facing the opposite way 😂 AFAIK there aren't any 360 bluetooth speakers that can actually fill 4 courts. And if a boombox is enough for 2 courts, it probably is your best option cuz other speakers in its price range are not as loud or durable (Boombox is sand proof and it can easily withstand getting hit or tripped on etc) Partybox 100 could be a recommendation but that is not sand proof :/ so just get a second boombox xD
Compromises. Size, sound.. Love my revolve plus to a water bottle spilt on it. No Warrenty on water damage.. Even thou it's ipx4. The fact that these company don't give parts is horrible..
@@Luigi-ke1pb As someone who's in Band and had always had keen ears for quality, I can guarantee that the Bose is more refined, it's sharper and cleaner. BUT the Bose does not have as much of bass such as the JBL, the treble for the Bose is WAY better, but not in terms of bass. So, Anandhu IS correct that Bose is way more refined compared to the JBL, no argument.
Must sit right in front of Xtreme2, but has much better sound quality than x1. +I use it with a Flip4, which has better higher mids and can fill the sound of X2. Both have a stereo. Only deeper bass is missing.
I paid for this jbl 150 and return the store the same week i purchase this bose in 250 dollars and very happy the bose is no for exterior i haved for exterior ue Megaboom and ue boom 2
I'm about 2 years late in watching this video it looks like but I still give you props, but daaaaaayum, I can't understand a word you saying. Not sure if you speed talking or if this video is on fast forward mode.
Good day Oluv! I've been watching your videos for a month now. I'm torn between Xtreme 2 and Envaya 250bt. I know both of them are at very different category but I only have money for 1. I prefer sound quality but I also prefer loudness. Can you please do a comparison video? I'm from Philippines and I work as a seaman. I only have mobile phone and I can't really use your switcher tool in your website. Many thanks. I appreciate your work!
Cuerex I guess size for me is irrelevant. I'm more on weighing between the two on their performance sq/loudness ratio if there is such as sq/loudness ratio that is. I'm choosing for the jack of all trades. And I'm wondering how far different the sound quality is between the two.
like mentioned before Aiwa Exos 9. price/performance is also beyond realms. owned it aswell but stayed for Vifa Copenhagen which has way better soundquality but lacks in loudness
