JBL Xtreme One, Two, and Three 10 A Battery Explained

The mystery of people talking about a 10Ah battery in the JBL Xtreme, the JBL Xtreme2, or the new JBL Xtreme3 explained.
It all comes down to how the battery pack is configured.
You can read up on how to calculate the capacity of battery packs when the cells are wired in series, or how you calculated cells in parallel.
The JBL Xtremes have both, series and parallel wiring in one pack, and that makes the printed label on the pack say 5Ah what is the same as 5000mAh.

The Xtreme actually has a 2 x 5000mAh batteries, placed parallel. Both are 37Wh (7.4V), and together effectively operate at 10.000mAh, 74Wh (3.7V) Basically The Xtreme works in double voltage hence 5000mAh represent the same amount as stored energy in 10000 mAh

KPetrova what? Nothing has 74Wh in this setup. The voltage is 7.4V times 5A and that calculates as 37W, and not 74W!

KPetrova There are four 18650 batteries in there with 2.5A each. That makes it 2.5 times 4 equals 10A at 3.7V each cell, and that’s effectively 10 times 3.7 equals 37W. Very easy.

Sir I destroyed my original bms board of xtreme 2. Now i want to fix it with new (eHUB 2S 8A 7.4V-8.4V 18650 Li-Po Li-Ion Lithium Battery Protection Board BMS Circuit Module) . So wer should i connect those yellow and white wire?? Please help me

Therefore it is better to talk about watthours when it comes to capacity. Add a battery and you add watthours no matter if it is parallell och serial connected.

Ok, sir, but if I connect these batteries according to your first diagram, will I get 3.7v and 10 A? And if I connect the batteries according to the second diagram I will get the 7.4v but with 5 A? Fede Lucardi that’s the point, the battery pack has 5A and not 10A as advertised. In fine print they say 10A equivalent.

Würde es auch bei der BoomBox funktionieren wenn man selbst ein Akku Pack mit 18650 zusammen baut, weil der Akku macht schon langsam schlapp und wollte nicht ein Lithium Polymer für die BoomBox suchen. Dabei will auch das die BoomBox auch 20,000 mA bekommt und nicht die 10,000 mA die sie verbaut haben

DIe 18650 passen da nicht rein vom Platz her. Und dann die Kapazität verdoppeln würde noch mehr Platz brauchen... Bei der Boombox 1 würde ich die originale Lipo einbauen.

Sir my jbl xtreme has a problem, when i pull out the charging cable my jbl only live in a few minutes then it turn off without battery low alert and when i try to charge it the device still has 4 bar battery, is there a problem with my battery?

I have that too did you buy used it when it was above 50% and you try charging it overnight and that does not work still at the same % as you last used it and then it goes down slowly day by day and then that happens in the end i have that i dont know whats wrong iveb been trying to contact them but i got it to be sent back but we dont gotta drive 4 hours to send it so its worthless
