Thank you for this video series. As a novice contemplating a SuperBeetle project I really like your concise, no nonsense approach and have learned a few things already.
This is the first video I’ve seen that did not pop holes in the new floor pan down the tunnel side for plug welding onto the tunnel. What am I missing?
Bro great video!!! i am the happy owner of a 1966 beetle and we are in restoration process, my question is the floor pan size are the same in the early and late bugs? i mean the only difference between old and new models bug floor pans are the seat supports? Can i cut off the seat supports of a 1990 floor pan replace with the supports of my 1966? thanks!!!
Thanks Luis, yes. The floor pans are the same dimensions at the chassis for ALL year Beetles, and even Super Beetles. The only differences on the pans are the seat rails / mounts. A 1979 Super Beetle floor pan could be installed in a 1954 Beetle, etc.
I picked up the rollers at Harbor Freight and bolted them to some cut down front end supports that were welded to a tow bar mount. The bottom of the pan was undercoated afterwards, the topside was painted.
