We’re beginning the installation of a new wiring harness in our 1971 Super Beetle. In this portion we’ll get a new main wiring harness pulled into the car along with some additional wires that we’ll need for our aftermarket gauges. Follow along as we get started with one of the most feared portions of a restoration and see how simple it is, just take it one wire at a time.

I’m about to buy one of your full harnesses for a 72 Standard beetle. Do you also have a step by step video (or written instructions) for a 72?
@Sam_Mebane

Written instructions are included with the harness, yes.

@@Sam_Mebane about how long should it take to install one of these harnesses Sam? I’m looking at a replacement myself.

Do all the beetles have the same wiring almost I have a 67
@Sam_Mebane
@Sam_Mebane 3 года назад
Almost is a very relative term, and yes, all the wiring is similar. We actually wired a complete 1966 Beetle here :ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-an0KPO4jR7o.html The wiring on it is nearly identical to the 67.

Hold on a sec... What mirrors are those???
@Sam_Mebane
@Sam_Mebane 3 года назад
This question took longer than I expected, just some generic eBay mirrors I adapted to fit the stock threaded mounts.

@@joshcosta423 it's all in a name, but calling a German car a German look seems somewhat redundant. Not that calling a European car Euro isn't!

Back when cars had simple electrical systems that anybody with half a brain could figure out. Try replacing the harness on a new car, lol! Damn thing will weigh more than you do!

I’m pretty heavy... but you’re probably right!
