I liked him more in Nsync. His voice was better than Justin. Just that Justin was more outgoing, and I guess more in the public eye being with Britney at the time and then breaking up.
@@toomuchfourU Yeah, seems like she's got a better grasp of what it is than you do. He sounds similar to Robin Thicke here, and if you think that man doesn't have soul, you are desperately confused.
Of course his chances were partially sabotage. Look at the format on how pop entertainers rise through the ranks today...subliminal messages (brainwashing, i.e. playing only selective songs on repeat), setting certain individuals up with the right producers/songwriters, etc. Let's not forget one of the biggest factors, age. JC is 5 years older (though now days you can't tell because Justin has kind of aged badly, while JC being the 2nd oldest in the group looks mostly the same unless he sports some stupid experimental hairstyle). In the music industry it's cost efficient to invest in someone younger than older (cause market trends do prove younger people are more likely to consume/spend the most). There's also plenty of other reasons (mostly due to the politics of the industry).
...no.... he is my favorite member of nsync but this song is hot garbage and never should have been made. It's the poster child for what you DON'T do going solo from a popular group.
Didn't have Timberland producing Him. Jay Sean was supposed to be working with Tim but cancelled the agreement to go work with JT. Jay Sean subsequently joined Cash Money with Little Wayne
+Zahir Byam This song was dope. people who like trash music are the reason this song didn't do as great as it could have and should have. the music out now a days is trash.
*NSYNC’s manager saw that Justin was the draw, the “heartthrob” and pushed him to the front. Think Deena in Dreamgirls (2006). JC had/has the vocals but Justin was the look.
Dear Jc Chasez.. If you ever read this.. Please give us, your loyal fans, an album. We love you, we loved Schizophrenic, we loved the leaked singles from your cancelled second album.. You are a voice that our ears cry to listen to.. we are tired of the autotuned nonsense and meaningless music we are subjected to.. You have it in you, that God-given heavenly voice needs to be out there, and we, your fans, will willingly grasp it and cherish it..
I realize that you posted this 2 years ago, but I just looked this video up today. I’m a 49 year old mother of a 28 year old and I blast this song in my car too!
I can’t believe that this song was produced 20 yrs ago. The sound and lyrics are very modern and fresh. I think JC’s solo album is very creative and so different from Nsync. I feel very pity that his album wasn’t successful. But he’s a true musician.
@@LookinAtHimthank u! Finally someone said it!! He could’ve honestly copied Justin’s Justified album to a fucking tee and true nsync fans wouldn’t have minded at all.
I will never understand how JC was not the biggest breakout from Nsync. He had the voice, the dance moves, and was so handsome. I cannot help but think that Justin’s career was helped significantly by the attention the Britney situation brought.
JC didn’t have the music to back him up nearly the same way. Justified was a good album all the way through and had a direction and a a1 producer. Had jc had that with more hunger for success he would’ve made it. And while I’m not saying Britney had no help in Justin’s popularity later, he and jc were already the most popular in the group in 97-98
@@romaretaylor9953I was in the music industry at that time. Actually, played for Justin Timberlake. I can personally tell you when it came to JC, the word was “we don’t need another Justin Timberlake”! Even when this song dropped, people thought it was a rejected by Justin, and that’s why he got it! Truth, that’s what was being said in the industry. The only way JC would have made it BIG was to go strictly R&B route and get the respect of the bruthas and Sistas, or go a completely different route. The hip hop route, he was looked at as a clone to JT, unfortunately.
@@Keepdapocketso if he had went the Robin Thicke route, that would’ve set him apart? It’s a shame they both couldn’t shine. I mean, they were in the same group for gods sake. Of course they may be a little similar, especially when it’s a debut album. They’re just going off what they’ve already been doing. Jc’s second album was more ballads and R&B.
@@k.t155 here a couple examples. Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, LFO, 98 Degrees, and many other white boy bands were out at the same time. Pink, Brittney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore, Jo Jo, etc were all out at the same time. With the boy bands, BSB and NSync were top dogs because they cornered the market, so to speak. The others, had a few hits, but was no where near sustainable. Same with the ladies I mentioned. Christina and Britney sustained in that “hip pop” genre. Jo Jo was more R&B and fell off. Pink used hip hop as a springboard, then completely switched over to straight pop. Jessica had a decent run due to her relationship with Nick Leche, but musically, she fell off. So on and so on. You proved my point. JC and Justin were similar, but Justin already has the spot.. JC was always going to be looked at as “following Justin”. That doesn’t seem or get you bigger. As I stated, I was in the industry. The talk was to try and make him another Justin. People was going to go for that. JC had to find another lane. Undoubtedly, he has a better voice than Justin, but just having a better voice doesn’t matter.
It is a bit sad that this song and JC were not a bigger hit. This was produced by Dallas Austin, who had hits with Boyz II Men, TLC, Monica, Pink...just to name a few. And Justin even said himself that JC was the best singer out of any of the boybands that were so popular in the early 2000s. JC voice is butta. If you've never heard him on "Give In To Me" by Euge Groove...you're missing out.
+Danni Jae JC and Dallas are still friends, he worked with him producing for other artists in London quite a few times this past year. I thought that was cool, now if only Dallas could convince JC to release his own material. :D
You've gotta understand that it's not about who is the best singer but about how talented and unique you are in the music industry and that's what JT has that JC hasn't has . JC may be best vocally but JT is way much a whole better package that has a once in a lifetime talent
@@cookinwitp0ppin331I so agree this song wouldn’t even be half as good if it came out today they time it came out was good but his promotion team was shit and the song needed a better hook
2:24 Jc: why can't you just give me a chance Tara Reid: I just need for you to smell my breath tho 🤗. I just ate garlic & need to know if you think my breath smells like flowers 🧚 This is almost like that mj video. Where that female keeps dissing him
JC should have left Jive and went to a different label. Yes his voice suited RnB better. I would have loved a rock album from him tho, I liked the All Day song. But at the time of its release, I didn't like it cos he jumped from boyband to fboy real quick and I was like 18 at the time lol His fanbase was younger altho he was in his mid-20s already.
@@knmonlinemediayea he should’ve saved that for like 2007/2008 when that sound was coming in during lady Gaga and all the other indie rock bands. New kids on the block did something similar, going from ballads to “dirty dawg” and the new Jack swing sound. Loyal fans didn’t like that either and thought they were fboys so their 1993 album flopped, although being my fav! They go wrong by not being subtle in the transition period lol
he's overrated way back when he's in nsync hes a incredible and we know that but his songs werenot that good no matter how good singer you are if your songs suck then it wont be a success
+mevelle martin I love his solo album, I love many of the songs that leaked as demos for other artists or for his second unreleased album. JC's songs were fine, they showed a great deal of musical ability and knowledge, they were clever and had a great vibe. Plus he's an amazing performer.
+Afrodisiac21 One reason for so little views is that this video usually isn't available in the US. Today for some reason it's available but most of the time no one in the US can see it.
This randomly popped up as a suggested video and I looked at the title like "Wait a minute!!!!" I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS HIM SINGING THIS WHOLE TIME LMAOOOOOO. I don't even remember watching this video but I knew the song - I even remembered the chorus😅🤣 Poor JC he def deserved a better shot at a solo career 😕
They played this on Pop 2k XM radio 2 days ago. I went wild, what is this!?! Can’t stop listening to it. I don’t even remember it from the past. This should have been everywhere!!!!
This song is still so good! I remember being a major fan of JC's solo stuff more than JT's work back in the day and catching hell for it. Yes, it was risque for a boybrander at the time but it was so well produced, catchy, and pop perfection. Truly ahead of its time. I even saw him live at Wango Tango, he remains the only member I've seen live in terms of solo music.
When I was younger I did not appreciate his look in this video this song, but BOY HAS MY MIND CHANGED!! He looks absolutely gorgeous and this song deserves so much more than it got 😭
This song just suddenly popped in to my head so I had to find it on RU-vid! Man he was so underrated. As great as Timberlake was, JC was clearly as talented and capable as an artist. He had a great personality also...such a shame the industry has to hand pick the one ‘star’ from a group and groom them for stardom whilst they turn their back on the others. This was an amazing track and stands toe to toe with any Justin Timberlake track. I also loved ‘Plug It In’, the collab he did with Basement Jaxx. So unique
This, this is what his first album should have been like. This is fire and clearly had the support needed to make a great song and video. It makes me sad he did not get what he needed for the rest of his solo work.
His vision in music is a bit futuristic, that if this was released today, it would have peak off the charts. I don’t know what went wrong during this time but he has so much potential to be bigger than this. Sigh, JC, it’s a little late for a comeback but, better late than never.
