Hey JC, I am wrapping up two WONDERFUL weeks in Cha Am and Hua Hin. Everything you discussed and showed in your videos was spot-on including the medical services. I had a very affordable and professional laser surgery performed in Petchaburi, toured a bunch of condos, apartments and houses, and even started a friendship/relationship with a beautiful Thai woman that is a nurse at the GOV hospital. And I now completely know what you meant about the “No Fly Zones” as compared to these two cities as well as several others in Petchaburi that I visited. One comment I want to add is to stress something you mentioned and that is “be aware of your surroundings as you move around”. Whether you are walking through a market, riding a bicycle, motorbike, or car watch your step. Remember to look before moving forward, changing lanes or going around someone. Let others know your intentions by using the bell on your bike or blinkers on other vehicles as well as “being aware”. Thanks for all! P.S. I plan to return in four months :-)
good video, i stayed in cha am for 5 days in january this year got a train from bangkok cost 34 baht and stayed in a guest house for 500 baht a night. got there on a monday so to miss the weekend rush and found cha am to be so relaxing and friendly would recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet time, looking forward to part 2
There are two HSPA+ Edge/3G/4G versions available in the States now -- one for T-Mobile and one for AT&T. It's my understanding you can configure one of them to work on the Truemove-H network for 3G, as the device supports the 850mhz frequency. There are instructions on the XDA developers forum.
I will be mentioning this in a video soon on RU-vid. My members already have all these details. It is open season on drivers now and in high tourist areas. In these areas there are no longer helmet stops but they check for everything including a drivers license. It seems the only ones they will accept now is Thailand licenses or an International Drivers License.
The mask has a few different purposes depending on the country you are in. 1) Shyness if you see them worn in videos. 2) When the person is sick they usually wear them. This is more common in japan and I think vietnam, not thailand, but it is used that way sometimes. 3) He mentioned the smoke/dust and they may be worn for that reason since she has to stay outside her whole job.
I didn't see any in bangkok in 06, but I was taking in temples, roseland, etc. just wondered if they did that there. new fad here is boccie ball, replaced house shoes since it's easier to roll a ball than throw 2 lbs of steel. lol older now ya know?
Looks familiar. In Ao Nang, near Krabi. Love this place. Good air to breath, a bit touristy of course but no wave runners, just longtail boats. If you come here be sure to go to Crazy Gringo's for texmex, and live band & dancing. Place is very romantic setting so make sure to bring a friend! Lots of tourists from Sweeden, so cute blonds as well as cute Thai ladies. Double plus! 555
JC, In general, about how long after you shoot the footage for your videos, do we get to see them here? I understand that the more footage you shoot, the more editing there is, but then on the other hand, you do break it up into "parts". Just curious. You are truly doing a great thing. Thank you for the time and thoughtfulness you put into each video.
Ya, I'm wondering also which one I should get when we take our next trip to Thai. Nexus 7 or Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, 7inch or 10inch. I like the idea of access to Google and the internet with a sim card or wifi when at a hotel. Switchable between Thai and English Caricatures. I am fine with having a separate phone.

Anyways, I am from New York City and I want to say that I love your show and I really can appreciate and also get a feel what Thailand has to offer through your programs/videos. Hey JC, would you by any chance still be anywhere around Cha-am at the moment..? I was sitting by the beach and saw someone zoom by on a motorcycle that looked quite a bit like you. Haha
you would not recognition it now, most areas are not the sleepy fishing village that made the keys popular. new strip malls line the hwy with chains taken over the mom / pop stores. looks like miami without high rises. most trailers have been taken out & new condos replaced them.
@retirecheapjc. Have you been to the, (Mix &Match) cafe) just outside the entrance to, Market Village in, Hua Hin? Very friendly cafe. From breakfast onwards they have alot of farang expats & I think farang couples who either live in Hua Hin or spend six months per year in the Town. Good Coffee too. Apart from your sense of direction (albeit google maps) it is quite an ability to navigate the way u do - More than that your ability to drive in all kinds of conditions - in a van or on mtrbike - Have you had any special training or just adapted naturally or both? I would have crashed long ago - impressive! not to mention you commentate hahaah
Pardon my curiosity, but it looks your route included the Bang Phli - Suk Sawat Expressway. One would think it would be more efficient to travel via the west side of Bangkok. I only ask out of curiosity, not trying to be obnoxious.
I got a Google nexxus 7 about 6 weeks ago for my next trip to Chiang mai in July. Are the directions still in english? I was going to share with you to purchase one because it has Google maps. I will see you in July John
yeah right now there a lot of smoke and yellow dust from china workings its way down. keep moving south, but not too far south where you have to worry. looking forward to the next video
hi JC, i enjoyed your video very much. I wonder if you had ever getting confuse driving in Thailand for you use to drive on the right-hand side in the states but in Thailand it on the left. How do you coup with it? Do you have a driving course before getting your Thai driver license?
Driving isn't the issue. I keep wanting to turn on the turn signal and keep getting the windshield wipers!!! This happens in both countries so go figure!! :)
John Segura A lot!! First spend about a month or 2 living in Bangkok before considering living full time there. If you aren't near the BTS Skytrain or MRT you will spend hours everyday commuting short distances. Not to mention people in ANY big city have a different set of values than the average person living in smaller cities. Also note that a foreigner cannot own a house in Thailand. There are ways around this that are discussed in the member site for you. Contact me inside there and I will give you the link. Just remember though that any option though is circumventing the intention of the law.
