I'd like to make a couple of points... This comes from experience with retrofitting several other vehicles. I'm currently researching doing wife's 2014 SE... 1) Your light pattern is wacked. You are blinding anyone you meet, up to 18 wheeler height. If I met you on the road, I would NOT be happy. I think this is primarily due to the fact you used a COB style LED emitter. Had you used CSP SMDs or a narrow flip-chip bar emitter, it would have more closely approximated the tungsten filament of the factory H11 bulb. 2) Though I was surprised there was room for the fan cooling, you really should have gone with a passive heat solution. I'm familiar with the LED bulb you used (and you WAY overpaid), and it looks like there is a solid 1.5" clearance from the back of the mount to the rubber cap. Thank you for demonstrating that. I wish you had shown new bulb / old bulb on your garage door. That would have demonstrated just how much the light pattern of the halogen was destroyed. By flipping the video back and forth between 2:00 and 7:35, it seems the top of the light pool was raised about 3". Also, the left / right spread has virtually disappeared. That's going to make it hard for you to see anything coming from the side. Having lived in CO, I could see that being an issue with the mulies... or kids.
@burningfeet 53 OK, SuperMechanic... they weren't HIDs. They weren't Philips, either. AND, I'll let you in on another small secret: HIDs don't have tungsten filaments... Not everyone is as stupid as you'd like them to be. Maybe if you'd actually READ the comment your are supposed to be "tearing apart" - before launching into the pedanticsphere.
@@itzsteven1251 Karen? I hope you don't use that insult much, as you clearly don't know what it means. I guess little trolls in mama's basement don't read much - except for youtube comments. Maybe ignorance and lack of comprehension skills are troll traits.
high beams are 9005 hb3, are u planing on getting rid of those ugly orange ''fog lights'' cover? i have the same car and the same spec and i want to do that
Have you had any issues with the cars computer? I recently attempted to but similar LED lights in my 2013 escape and the vehicles computer shut them off after 30 secs and said “low beam failure” Thanks N
I had the same issue when I changed the fogs in a 2018 Lincoln to LED. I used a program called ForScan to change the setting. Actually, I used the program to change LOTS of settings. Pretty cool... very powerful... proceed with caution.
I did the same light replacement but, when I turn on engine computer sends a message there is a missing bulb and turn off the light. do u know how to fix this?
You can use FoCCCus Software (ford.xtlt.ru) to configure the BCM to stop the scan. Version 0.8.3 is confirmed to work. Basic overview is that you will need to set the Hi-speed CAN Bus Headlamp type to “Alternate HID” and the Dimmed Dipped to “Without Dimmed Dipped”. There are multiple references for the procedure on the web. You can use ForScan Software (forscan.org/download.html) to clear the DTCs you have set.
Any of you getting your bulbs to work? I'm getting the same problem as you. I've done some research and some places say to buy leds with "can bus" decoder or to buy D3s lights. #TIA!
@@wesleymarkham3343 yes, I finally got them to work. I used focccus . you have to change the light type from halogen to LEDs. let me know if you need help. I still get the "low beam fault" warning but the lights stay on.
Hey bud...great vid....for some readon I cant get the bulb out ...its stuck....lol....i have a Ford escape titanium ...can you help?....if I try to force it w an adjustable wrench will it break?....thank you brother.
